  1. My Ocean Kayaks have scupper holes UNDER the seat, and its a seat that sits on the kayak, not one of these fancy lawn chair seats. It was the first thing I did after having a wet butt for my first trip and that was to get plugs for just those. My kayaks have 4 other scupper holes, 2 in front of my feet and 2 in the rear deck well. I usually plug the rear ones so my gear back there doesn't get wet but I don't worry about the other 2 since one has a transducer going down it and the other doesn't let much water in.
  2. Do a search on Amazon for scupper plugs. Measure the diameter of the holes on your kayak and they should have some that fit to plug them up.
  3. Welcome. Sent you a message about fishing our area.
  4. I have a 2 piece Shimano Clarus 6'10" MH casting rod that I've had for 8-9 years now. It's been through everything and is still going strong. They still make them and the part number is CSC610MH2C. http://shimano.fishing-store.us/shimano-csc610mh2c-clarus-c-travel-casting-rod-2pc.html
  5. I have the 53dv with CHIRP on the bow. They are some of the best bang for the buck fish finders. They come preloaded with 17,000 lake maps in the US. I also have a non-CHIRP 73sv at the console.
  6. Flat eye meaning the eye of the jig is perpendicular to the hook. In other words its 90 degrees to the ones you have so it only needs one split ring to make the blade face the right way.
  7. Here's my 21" 4.5lber from a couple years ago
  8. Elite series only allows one bait at a time. Dummy baits are not allowed. From section C8 in their rules: Any umbrella-type rigging, harness or other device designed to hold more than one lure at a time – with or without hooks – is not allowed.
  9. Isn't allowed in the Elite series, so you won't see any of those guys talking about it.
  10. The Academy H2O brand does have a smaller frog that is 3/8oz and the work pretty well.
  11. I have Garmin finders and they are quick disconnect. I leave the bracket for the one on the console on the boat and just tilt it down when I'm trailering.
  12. Does anyone know if BPS Carbonlite rods float? Reason I ask is I saw a blooper video from this past Major League Fishing of Chris Lane where he's trying to flip his 5" Whopper Plopper and he hits the water with the lure before he flips it and it causes him to lose his grip on the rod and he loses it in the water. But the rod AND reel floats and he just reaches over and picks it up out of the water. The video is on Facebook or I'd post it up here. If you have Facebook it's on the MLF page. Anyways, it seems that Chris primarily uses BPS Carbonlite rods and reels and if they do that's pretty awesome that they float. Would save a good investment on fishing equipment if one would happen to go overboard while fishing or motoring. There is a picture of it floating below...
  13. Looks like it has both though looking at the other pictures?
  14. Well, seems that Garmin has changed their naming conventions as Wayne P said above. Anyways, if you want coastal maps with the Garmin Echomap units you need to look for the units with a x4 in their name, with x being the size of the screen. So you would look for a Echomap 44cv if you want a 4" screen one with coastal maps, 54cv for 5", etc. You can always get a map card for coastal maps from Garmin also.
  15. Striker has GPS but no maps. You probably don't have any Academy Sporting Good stores in MD but you might be able to order it online. In their ad this week they have a Garmin EchoMap 53cv on sale this week for $279. It's normally $499. Has 17,000 pre-loaded maps with about 8000 of them being 1' contour intervals. Just has standard 2D sonar so no down imaging but I think that's a pretty good deal. I have the 53dv, which does have down imaging, at the bow of my boat and it works great. Go to their website and its on page 18 of their ad.
  16. I found a video where a guy routed the xducer wire along the Maxxum mount instead of down the TM control wiring. I'll try that to see if it helps.
  17. So I just recently installed a Minn Kota Maxxum on my boat and at the same time I installed a Garmin echoMap 54dv on it. Today I took it out for the first time with that setup. When I have the finder showing traditional 2D sonar it looks fine until I start the trolling motor. I then get real thin vertical lines that show up coming off the bottom of the screen. It's almost like the transducer is picking up the blades on the trolling motor because the lines are equidistant from each other. The problem is MKs have the skeg on the front of the motor and the Garmin transducer for that unit is HUGE and takes up a majority of the bottom of the rest of the head of the motor and I have it as forward towards the skeg as possible. Any suggestions? Picture of the transducer on the trolling motor.
  18. Inno makes a relatively cheap rack (Compared to Thule and Yakima) and is what I had on my old car and what I use on my wife's SUV with factory rails. Inno also comes with locks to lock the rack to the top of your car so it can't be stolen where Thule and Yakima are extra. I got mine from ORSracksdirect.com You really want a solid rack though because a buddy of mine bought a cheaper Malone rack and had it come lose at highway speed with 2 kayaks on top of his car. He has a better rack now.
  19. Almost looks like a Big Bite Baits swim minnow, but the bottom fin is different
  20. I have an F150 with 3.55's and it tows my boat just fine. You only want the locker for when you are on slippery boat ramps where both rear wheels are in the water. With 4x4 though it shouldn't have any problems though, even without the e-locker. You definitely don't want to run the locker when you are just towing on dry pavement though, bad things can happen when you go around turns. The e-locker shuts itself off around 40mph anyways, not that you would ever need to be going that fast offroad with it locked. I will say that if you are going lift it to put bigger tires on it the 3.55's will act more like 3.31's or higher (numerically lower) depending on the size of the tires so take that into consideration. I am not planning on bigger tires so 3.55's work great for me. I have the 2.7L EcoBoost by the way and it tows my Bass Tracker great.
  21. Seems like a smallish sized lake for a Classic, less than half the size of Grand, and Grand isn't that big of a lake. Anglers are going to be stacked on top of each other. End of March in Houston is nice temps from what I've been told.
  22. For our Highlander I use Inno bars attached to the factory rails and the Inno kayak dual kayak carrier. I put the upright in the middle of the car though because it's easier to put the kayak(s) up there. Inno also makes a single kayak carrier that looks to work rather well.
  23. Looks like a foraging minnow or baitfish to me
  24. They do make touch screen safe spray cleaners that we used to use in my old job. Might be able to find some on amazon that would be worth trying.
  25. A friend of mine has a Lure 11.5 and he loves it other than it doesn't have much storage space inside. Allows him to stand without issue, although the added width makes it slow to paddle through lakes or long slow river pools. Has a great seat too.
