  1. This is too close
  2. If you really are buying into their technology, the one that helped Howell win the classic is an 8-10' diver but it's not out yet.
  3. I disagree with the sunny environment thing as the color ones are a lot easier to read since they are backlit better. If you aren't looking for a GPS to go with it, the new Lowrance Elite 4x-HDI ($199) looks like a great fish finder. I have the older Elite 4x-DSI on my kayak which only has downscan "3D" scanning and it works fine for what I use it for, but I really would have liked both the standard sonar (2D) and the downscan on one screen. The new HDI units have both 2D and 3D. I might have to upgrade. To get the same functionality (both 2D and 3D) with Humminbird you have to spend about $50 more for the 346C DI. Garmin also as the 301dv which has both 2D and 3D but it's even more at $270. For the money, the Lowrance is the best deal out there IMO.
  4. Thae removable center console thing the X model has that can house all your fish finder equipment is pretty sweet!
  5. All the Demon Craw DT6's that he was also using are sold out everywhere. LOL
  6. I've known a few people that have bought from this place. Finish isn't the best and the hooks definitely aren't great at all, but they've caught fish with them.
  7. The newest version of the FS12T looks great and they have really addressed some of the downfalls the previous models had such as enlarging the scuppers, better location of hatches, adjustable foot braces, etc. The only problem I have with them is how heavy they still are. Coming in at 77lbs, that's one heavy kayak to try to hoist up onto the top of a car. I have an 11.5' Ocean Kayak and it's 20lbs lighter and much more manageable to lift onto the car. If Ascend would use medium density polyethylene instead of the high density polyethylene like a lot of other kayak companies use they use they could save some weight without really compromising strength.
  8. I may have to trade up and get the 4x HDI as I only have the DSI now and I'd like to have both 2D sonar and DSI on the same unit!
  9. I have a Stohlquist Fisherman and it's a great vest http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/49865?productId=864539&qs=3016887_mercent_google_pla&attrValue_0=Moss%20Green&mr:trackingCode=0BD71996-B0F0-E211-A497-90E2BA285E75&mr:referralID=NA&mr:device=c&mr:adType=pla&mkwid=qMaR1752_dc&pcrid=34644940377
  10. Pretty self explanatory here Missouri Male Birthyear
  11. yep, small zip tie...works great for jigs too!
  12. The card inside the box said it's 1-4' which to me means it's a floating jerk bait. Seems it's a brand new lure and Lunar sent it out in the box for people to try first as they aren't even selling it on their website yet. The only mention of it I could find was on Lunar's facebook page.
  13. I'm a big fan of P-Line CX Premium. It'll probably be the only line I use in the future unless I have a braid topwater reel. I also use Yozuri Hybrid, and although I like it, I don't like it as much as the CX Premium.
  14. Welcome. Lots of good fishing close to St Louis. Go Blues!
  15. All I pretty much use is BPS 4" tubes and 5" stick-o's. Catch just as many fish as GY that cost twice as much and they last a little longer since they aren't as soft. As for cranks the XPS line has smaller and cheaper hooks than comparable cranks but change them out and they catch fish.
  16. Also what I use. Simple cheap and effective.
  17. Bass Pro has their spring classic sale coming up, February 28-March 16.
  18. That's what I've seen people melting down. Do a youtube search for melting down wheel weights. I know you do have to skim off all the crud that is attached to the weights, and you have to pull out all the steel pieces that are left after the lead melts.
  19. My wife always seems to outfish me when we go. I think it's mainly because I'm always fishing for the big ones with bigger baits when she's throwing a little 1/4oz rooster tail because it's easy to cast out and just reel in. She catches the numbers, while I spend time getting her fish off the hook and I don't get as much fishing in like I do when I'm alone.
  20. Lets you share way points, GPS, etc between two fish finders. Allows you to only need one transducer too. http://www.humminbird.com/leading_innovation/fishing-systems.aspx
  21. Sadly I couldn't get out fishing as much as I wanted to this year, and when I did I went stream small mouth fishing and those don't tend to get that big around here. My biggest green bass was a 2lb 1oz Spotted bass and my biggest brown bass was a 1lb 7oz smallie. Our local lake where we've caught bigger fish drained itself towards the end of the summer and that put the kabosh on any large fish being caught this year for the most part.
  22. Rage Rigged craws, tubes, skirted twin tailed grubs (anything that mimic's crawfish). Weightless flukes, jerk baits. Those have been my best bets...
  23. I guess I can agree with that...My kayaks are only 11' so I've never had a length problem needing front and rear straps, and while they do deform a bit when I strap them down with the ratchet straps, I've never had a problem with them not popping back out. No worse that when I used to buckle straps that tended to losen up on me.
  24. Not that the front and rear tie down's aren't necessary, but if you have a proper kayak carrier on top of your roof racks and use proper tie down straps, you will not need the front and rear tie downs. I use ratcheting straps and an INNO kayak carrier on my car and I've never had my kayak's move or even budge after strapping them down. If you are using foam blocks and not a roof rack then yes I absolutely would use front and rear tie downs. Austin Kayak has a nice kit that uses hood/trunk loops and ratchet ropes that work well for this.
  25. My job is great. I work for the state as a casino regulator making sure the slot machines are set up properly and are paying back what they are supposed to so people aren't being cheated. Hours are great, weekends and all state and federal holidays off. Much better than being on the other side working for a casino, which I did for 15 years previous to this.
