Advise For A Florida Trip
All along Destin/Santa Rosa Beach/Sea Side coast there are small dune ponds/lakes that from what I've heard have great LMB, speckled trout, and redfish fishing in them. A few of them rent kayaks and there's a lot of bank fishing opportunities at many of them too...Probably a 45 minute drive east of Elgin.

Bps Revolution Low Profile Reel = Next Gen Pro Qualifier?
There's the new BPS Revolution Low Profile baitcaster shown on sale in the BPS Spring Classic ads. 7 bearings, dual braking, aluminum frame. Hmmm...sounds a lot like the specs the PQ currently has. And with the PQ being practically given away during the Classic, makes you wonder if they are clearing out the PQ's to make room for this one to take over where the PQ left off. Too bad there isn't more details about the Revolution on BPS's website right now.

Kayak Pfd
I use the Stohlquist Fisherman also. It's a great vest. I got mine at backcountry.com for a great price a couple years ago but Austin Kayak sells them for $99.99. I was going to get a cheaper one, but I wanted one with storage compartments for my phone (in a dry bag of course) and other small items and this one fit the bill, plus my excuse I told my wife for buying this more expensive one was that my life is worth the extra $50 I'm going to spend on this life jacket. The auto inflate ones are nice, but I'd really hate for that thing to not go off if I fall overboard and I hit my head on something and can't pull the cord to inflate it...

New To You Baits For 2015 That You Have Never Used Before?
I am going to see what all the fuss is about the Midwest Finesse Rig, aka The Ned Rig.

Yep, he cradled it against his body.

Camouflaging Fishing Line
You are right. Unless you need light line to preserve the action of the lure/fly/bait, use the heaviest line you can get away with. Youtube Chris Zaldain Umbrella Rig and it will show a video of him dragging a GoPro in front of his A-Rig on Table Rock to show what it looks like underwater. The bass could give a care less if he was dragging the rig with an anchor rope.

Camouflaging Fishing Line
Not after seeing the way that bass attack an Alabama Rig with all the very visible wires I don't. The biggest fish these gimmicky fishing lines catch are the FISHermen that buy them.

Camouflaging Fishing Line
If a fish doesn't care that the baits are attached to five stainless steel wires they won't care that your fishing line is camouflaged. Remember, the red fishing line is designed to disappear in green water but the red hooks on lures are not.

Best Rain Gear For The Price?
I want to say my rain gear is Frogg Toggs Pro Action jacket and pants. Luckily I've only had to wear the jacket twice, and the pants once, although it was a deluge when I had to wear both in my kayak and I still had about 7 miles to go to the next river take out. Except for the cuffs and around my neckline I was totally dry underneath when I got done. Will they hold up after more use? Not sure, but they have worked great so far for what I've needed them for. I think they were right around $20 each at BPS.

Looking For A Wooden Rod Rack
Build your own? Probably a lot cheaper than the manufactured ones and you can build it to suit your needs.

Kayak Bass Fishing!
I fish out of an Ocean Kayak Trident 11T outfitted with a Lowrance Elite 4x-DSI fishfinder. Nothing else real special about it other than it gets me out there where the fish are. No pictures as it's kind of cold this time of year and its away in storage.

Mlf In Maine
Yeah, but then I have to watch it on my computer which isn't as comfy as watching on the big screen. I usually go in half with a buddy and get the online coverage.

Mlf In Maine
It was a fun show to watch. KVD really is the master when it comes to those smallie lakes. And then to have the show end like it did was pretty exciting and heartbreaking for that 5th place guy because he's a good guy too. Too bad my TV provider charges extra for the Outdoor Channel.

Mushroom Heads Vs Regular Jig Heads (Neko Rig)
It also allows for a drop of superglue to be placed on the back of the jig head to keep the half of the zinker right up against the head so it doesn't slide down the hook. Makes one Ned rig last for many many fish before the zinker needs to be replaced.

Ever Caught A Bass Or Fish W/ A Lure In It's Mouth???
I was trout fishing once at Taneycomo and was using a rooster tail. Super clear water so I could see the rooster tail coming in as I reeled it back. If you've never been to the upper parts of Taneycomo, you can see a lot of fish usually when the water is low. One of the fish started freaking out about 4 feet from where my rooster tail was coming in and then I saw my rooster tail shoot off in a different direction without any fish around it other than the one that was freaking out. Come to find out I had wrapped the rooster tail blade around a tippet that the trout had broken off. The line was wound around the blade enough that I was able to land the fish that had a small #16 or so fly in it's mouth. I still have that fly.

I'd have to be voting those city leaders out since it's your tax dollars that are paying for that lake...and their salaries.

How To Prevent Arm Tanning
I wear Columbia UPF fishing shirts and pants always no matter the temps if it's sunny. They are cool and dry quickly if they get wet. My next shirts will be the tech material shirts with UPF though as I really don't need the pockets the fishing shirts have.

Wacky Rig Hooks
I use size 1 or 1/0 Owner Mosquito hooks and I use a double wrapped Goody's ouchless ponytail rubber band with the hook through the "X" that the rubber band makes when it's on the senko. Works much better than the o-rings and keeps the hook perpendicular to the worm for better hookups.

Ever Lost A Rod?
I actually got my daughter's rod back tonight. I was dragging a jig near where it went in and up popped the bobber. Pulled the line in and out came the rod. It was all covered in slime and was pretty nasty. It cleaned up well though and still reels like it never happened. The LED lights in the handle don't light up anymore when you push the button though.

Catching The Same Fish
What's the most times anyone has ever caught the same fish? I have now caught the same 2lb bass 4 times now out of my sister in law's pond. I know it's the same fish because the first time I caught it was on a large segmented wake bait and it left a pretty good gash on the right side of the bottom of its mouth. That was on the 3rd of July. Then I caught it two more times that weekend on a jig. This evening I caught it again on a jig to make 4 times total. The gash had healed pretty well in the two weeks since it was made.

Most Successful Senko Rigging Style: Wacky Or Texas?
A couple years ago I caught a ton of fish on a white 4" or 5" BPS Stick-o or YUM Dinger rigged weedless, but I haven't caught any that way since then. Since I've tried them wacky, that's the only thing they'll bite now. I've also tried other colors, green pumpkin with gold flake being the most popular it seems.

Ever Lost A Rod?
I had it happen over the 4th of July weekend. I was at my wife's sisters house that has a small pond behind it that is full of catfish, a couple big carp, and some decent bass. I was fishing with my wife and 2 year old daughter for catfish with some nightcrawlers with a bobber. We bought one of the little Barbie fishing poles for my daughter but she decided she had enough fishing for the time and went inside. So I continued to fish with my wife, with her using her pole and me using my daughter's small pole. My wife had caught a smaller catfish and was having trouble getting the hook out, and I was down the bank a bit from her. So I tossed my line out and put the rod on the ground. The last thing I thought of before I headed over to my wife was to prop the rod up behind a log I was sitting on in case a fish were to bite while I was away helping my wife, but I just left it on the bank for some reason. Went to help my wife and on the way back to my pole I noticed my bobber was under so I ran over to get the pole, and, well, it was gone too. I'm guessing that once the fish spits the hook or it rusts away the bobber will pop back up. The pond is about 12' deep and I was fishing about 10' from the bank so eventually we should see it and possibly retrieve it although it won't be in any sort of usable shape by then unfortunately.
