Congrats on your big day! That's awesome. I personally don't drop shot very often, if ever. Just not my cup-o-tea, but it certainly is an effective presentation. Next time take some pics of those pigs and show them off! What were you using on the drop shot?
  2. Nice to know that not much is different between IL and PA. Some of the things people eat from these waters have got to be toxic, so their loss in the end I guess.
  3. I was sleeping between my 4:30 am baseball practice and my 11:00 am class. I remember my mom calling me up to tell me, and turning on the tv, only to end up seeing the second hit. I'll never forget seeing that. I can't even imagine being there when it happened.
  4. LOL true man. Great videos too, he does a real nice job on them.
  5. There needs to be more of this...there are a million articles here that could answer 95% of the posts made. Also the "SEARCH" bar up to the top right of all forums is a freaking brilliant invention. Use it. Trust me, it works and has since the almighty internet was introduced to man kind. Sometimes when I am reading posts I just translate it to "Hi, can you catch the fish for me because I don't want to read or try anything new." Half of the fun of fishing is figuring "it" out.
  6. Any more ski's lately SpeedBead?
  7. You need to go smallie fishing asap. While I do agree panfish fight like crazy and it can be fun, nothing fights like a football shaped smallie.
  8. Strike King Hack attacks and KVD swimg jigs have served me well.
  9. Got my stuff September 8th. I think I took that online survey about a week or 2 before my last post here. ~6 weeks. Anyway, I got the 3/0 Worm hooks and a decal. Haven't used them yet but I'm sure they'll perform great. Thanks TroKar!
  10. Deep Woods, 95% deet. If it burns your skin putting it on...it will surely protect you from the bugs.
  11. Out of all the fish in most of our freshwaters, LMB has got to taste the worst (IMO). I wouldn't even consider taking bass to eat just because of that. Put me on a honey hole of Eyes and the fryers going to be going. I do like perch and crappie too. When I fish Lake Michigan I take my limit of salmon, however they don't taste nearly as good as Alaskan salmon. But if bass is your thing..then you have every right to take your share. Pains me to see 5lb LMB getting sliced up though Take the 2 lbers if anything. Quick story....2 years ago a man was questioned on a lake by DNR while ice fishing. Had over a limit on him..so he got fined. They went to his house and he had 2 freezers filled with over 200lbs of LMB and panfish fillets. All of it was confiscated and he got slammed with fines. It's a shame too because the lake he got caught on, is a wonderful bass fishery but the past 2 years has shown a significant loss in size and quantity due mostly to winter kill. But guys like that who are taking more than they can eat in a season deserve to be exiled from fishing forever. There is no excuse for hoarding.
  12. I have had pizza from numerous states and nothing is better than Chicago style pizza. We are truly spoiled here. Pepperoni bacon mushrooms green peppers are my favorite toppings. Thin to deep dish. It's all good.
  13. X2. I have a crankbait addiction.
  14. Do you have any proof that you write for BAM? Im not saying you do or don't. I am just curious.
  15. Get some of each. Fish will prefer one to the other on a day to day basis. I use primarily Red Eyes , simply because of the flutter on the fall. It is truly the best action of all lipless cranks imo. Second choice would be live target lipless crankbaits. Very pricey though.
  16. I will be the first in the post to say give it a try and see how you like it. I love fluorocarbon for my cranking rod. I have used a few brands. Vicious,Berkley,Seguar, and BPS XPS. I think a lot of people dislike it because fluorocarbon takes a little breaking in on initial spool. It's all about line management. Once you get it softened up it casts a mile and it is far stronger than mono. If you want to get cranks down deep and fast, then use braid. You can get cranks down faster with a thinner diameter fluoro line, but risk breaking strength to a certain extent. I would use 10lb for deepest and 15-17 for normal cranking. Good luck. Dont be afraid of fluorocarbon.
  17. I use a Rage rod from St.Croix. super light and sensitive. I use the 7'1 MH fast. They make a couple bigger if you're looking for more length or power.
  18. Awesome story. I have 4 month old identical twin boys and I can't wait to get them going. I know I say that now and probably will hate myself for it later but its only a phase as I see it. I've had a taste of it with my nephews who now at 6 and 7 do ok without too much of a mess.
  19. I have had Curados for a while. I love them, so I'm sure the Chronarch will satisfy equally if not more. I also have a few Quantum reels too that I like a lot, so I'm not really on this Shimano only bandwagon. If I did have to choose between them, I'd take my Shimanos but the Quantums I do have are nice reels too. I'll let you know the results after the weekend.
  20. Your birds nest could have caused the line to cut through or partially through itself. KVD line conditioner is magical with fluorocarbon. It will soften it up really nice. Apply it before you go out and a few times during. I hate to be blunt, but it's more than likely that it was an error by you. Check your guides too. Bad guide could have put a nick in the line.
  21. Got mine. 200E5. Cranks are waiting and ill be out this weekend. Can't wait!
  22. No. Never. Just citing examples.
  23. Is there any distinctive differences from the two species, other than appearance? I was under the impression that the fish were pretty identical. I've caught plenty of walleye, but never a Saugeye/Sauger. I think a good majority of recreational fishermen probably do not even know the difference between them. For the million saugeye they stock, I'd be willing to bet they put five times as many walleye fry in the waters to that number. Walleye are such popular game fish and table fare. So I'd have to say NO, as far as the subject goes.
