  1. i have heard of people using other items as stake out poles but to me, while it is worth a shot, I prefer equipment that is designed for the task at hand because they usually perform better. And i will also agree with J Francho that an anchor trolley is probably more important than what type of anchor you are using
  2. i would be pretty ticked if i was able to hear someone else's music while fishing....get some headphones instead, that is what i do.
  3. the thing you have to watch out with fish grips is if the branch is too large it will mess up the spring and holding power of the fish grips, i learned the hard way lol I use a stakeout pole 95% of the time and a drag chain the other 5%. I have one of the yak attak 6' stake out poles and plan on getting another in 8'. for storage i either put it in a flush mount rod holder behind me or i put it in the clips that i have mounted to my track system. usually it stays in the tracks until i get on the water and use it for the first time then if i know it won't be long till i use it again, it goes in the flush mount, otherwise it goes back into the clips. I do try my best to use the wind to my advantage rather than fighting it.
  4. I had the arm and didn't like it at all and went with a thru hull and that was peachy. Now i have a transducer ready yak so i don't have to do either lol
  5. I have a garvin industries adventure rack. It does not require drilling into the body for installation. This is the third marvin industries rack i have had on various Jeeps and they are top notch. They do have some racks that require drilling so keep an eye out for that on the descriptions. My other two racks required drilling at is was not a big deal so don't let that stop you if there is a particular rack you are wanting, just make sure that any body drilling isn't for weight bearing purposes.
  6. my thoughts are he isn't a young player, this is what his 6th year i the league so I doubt his attitude will change anytime soon.
  7. really this is a do or die game for GS. If they lose, they are done. Also, I am not sure about Curry. He seems like he has a bit of a bad attitude out there. I mean after he made that horrible behind the back pass, he looked around like it was someone else's fault...his entire demeanor has changed but to be fair, i only watched him a few times this season prior to the playoffs. Guess we will see what happens, but either way he is a great player.
  8. If anything, the refs have been in favor of GS but more on the missed call end as far as on defense. They are a jump shooting team so the refs don't get the opportunity to get the call when taking it to the rack. If the Cavs can pull out the win in this series it will be historic. GS is already one of the top teams as far as wins go, both regular and postseason, and if they lose, they will be the only team in NBA history to have 80+ wins and not win it all. Cleveland is no joke but i worry that Deli and LBJ can keep up this pace for the rest of the series. This next game is huge for them because if they can win, it will be all she wrote.
  9. i still think Deli looks like he belongs on a lucky charms box or in a church league basketball game, not the NBA finals but i think GS would say otherwise lol
  10. a little bit of both probably
  11. He might be, his shooting percentage has dropped considerably since he landed on his head.
  12. you guys are into it nothing wrong with that and those are some nice rods for sure.
  13. length of the boat also has a lot to do with managing to load it. My most recent kayak purchase weighs in at a portly 86lbs or so and i haven't found the best balance point yet for loading and unloading. It is manageable, but lifting and controlling it to the top of my Jeep wrangler is somewhat challenging.
  14. i guess that is true, just not how i view things. If i was making my own rods, which it seems that you are, then i would probably do the same thing.
  15. Did i really just read that a consideration of a reel is how it matches, color wise, to a rod? that is a new one for me. I have never used a stella other than in a store checking one out but i am happy with my stradics.
  16. you bring up a good point. There is a fine line between being blown around by the wind and being harder to paddle and load and unload. The height of the seat and hull design also plays a large role in how the wind impacts your kayak too.
  17. i wouldn't focus on the baits as much as i would your presentation. On small ponds you need to be extra stealthy and not get close to the area you are fishing if possible. Remember, these fish are probably very spooky due to the type of water they live in.
  18. I use braid as I usually throw them in grass or other cover where the braid comes in handy.
  19. That is nuts but i guess when a team is not good for a long time and finally has a good shot at wining it all, it drives prices through the roof. I would be curious to see what they actually sell for though as the time gets closer.
  20. i do think that the late 70's to the mid to late 80's was a great time for basketball. Those teams were tough, they stayed together because FA wasn't like it is now and there were true rivalries. The 90's had some decent teams but the league was watered down by expansion and FA. I think the league knew it was going in a downward spiral with all the all-time greats about to retire, so they did all they could to make the game exciting again. Tonight is going to be a huge game though and I think that if Cleveland can pull out another win, the confidence of GS will be severely damaged.
  21. inflatable kayaks have their place but fishing isn't one of them unless you are talking rafts and that is a different story. A hook won't puncture them so i wouldn't worry about that. What i would worry about is having to inflate and deflate each trip, then take it home and open it up again so it can dry out then pack it back up till the next trip. Combine that with if it doesn't have a frame, it will be flimsier and difficult to fish from, not to mention lack of storage. A conventional kayak will be better in my opinion and no need for a trailer, unless you want to or you get a heavy kayak, as most can be cartopped pretty easily. Investing in a quality rack for your car would probably be better in that case.
  22. sierratradingpost.com they always have flies on sale and you can find 30-40% off coupons pretty easy quality is pretty good and the price can't be beat
  23. I am not sure what is more sad, that teams use this as a "strategy" or that guys can't hit more than 50% of their free throws. I played some basketball in college and i am pretty confident that i could hit 50% of my FT with my non-dominant hand
  24. I hate the fact that to get back in the game GS did the whole hack a poor shooter away from the ball. Sure it is a legal strategy, unless it is within 2 minutes to play, but it is crappy. If you can't do it with 2:00 to go then why can you do it before, makes no sense to me.
  25. Maybe the league is trying to go away from the star treatment that they brought in when Jordan was playing. Lebron was getting crushed all night long. IT was a good game though and if the Cavs can somehow win this series, Lebron will need all the off season to recuperate from this one. He is a beast out there. And what is up with Curry, he seems like a cocky little punk out there...he has a sweet shooting stroke for sure but his attitude seems pretty poor. Anyways, looking forward to the next game for sure.
