  1. Refs were horrible tonight
  2. Not tapered, just a straight piece of leader material
  3. that's just a baby....I know here in VA people don't even get excited till they are approaching triple digits. you would think with the long growing season down there that they would have some huge ones
  4. i have always used Umpqua leaders for trout and haven;t had any issues. If you are seeing the crinkling near the knot it is most likely because you are drawing the knot tight too quickly. Take your time, use lots of lubrication and it should go away. You may also want to try straight leaders as well. I know for any weighted flies i go straight leaders and have no issues.
  5. Guess you gotta hit the gym lol.... the key is finding the balance point of the boat and lifting it with straight arms...easier shown than explained. Once you get the one side on it is a piece of cake....i may get some rollers though because that would make it easier, i just don't like having something making it even higher up in the air. A trailer is what i really want though and it will happen, just a matter of when.
  6. hopefully not for a while So i took the boat out for about 3-4 hours yesterday and I am impressed. Pros: super stable-as stable as my commander Easy to stand in and sit back down very open and clean cockpit area-i can have 2 rods laid out in front of me fish another and have no issues paddles surprisingly well for such a wide boat, speed wise it is faster than my commander 120, maneuverability is about the same front storage could double as a cooler if you fill it with ice if you wanted to keep your catch seat is great floor silencing stuff is easy to apply and is pre cut to make things easier lots of space behind the seat for your crate Electronics pod is pretty awesome and will make mounting a transducer pretty easy center console can hold tools used throughout the day within reach but not in the way tracks for accessories pretty much everywhere Cons: Heavy balance is ok and i have yet to figure out the best way to cartop it but with experience I am sure i will get better Not crazy about the seat fastening system-it is in a track which is fine but the the thumb screws once removed allow the nut in the track to slide freely with potential for losing it. If the boat was trailered this would be a non issue High back on seat is comfy but given where the crate is located, it is a little problematic to reach items in the front of the crate No great place for an anchor trolley, would have been nice to have some tracks in the right locations so you could set one up easily Overall after one paddle of my boat i am pleased and am looking forward to rigging it up further.
  7. thats tough to say because from what i understand, they are similar hulls just one is a sit on top and one is a sit in. Personally I like SOT for fishing and especially for fishing as it allows for easier movement around and to stand up....i have only paddled the cuda briefly and it is a very stable boat and i had no issues standing in it. It also had a good amount of storage space for camping trips too. I would say find somewhere that is a dealer and make the drive or post up on the kayak bass fishing page on Facebook. someone nearby may have the same boats and be willing to let you check them out.
  8. Braid will get cut through like a hot knife through butter from toothy fish. What your describing doesn't sound like bite offs though. Are you lubricating the knot well before cinching as it can burn itself when tightening
  9. They have a stand assist strap to help but I took it off, one less thing to get tangled up in
  10. I wouldn't motor through them and trolling motors usually get through them ok but you have to pick your way through if they are really thick. As far as jet drives go, yes, they will clog up with vegetation pretty easily. best thing to do is to get to your spot cut the motor and use your trolling motor. idling around with a jet in vegetation will definitely make you have to unclog the intake which on an outboard isn't too bad but on an inboard can be a little more difficult.
  11. As luck would have it, they had the boat in stock in the color I wanted.......just got it home and have a soccer game to go to but after that I will put down the conseal floor pieces and the take it out and try it out. You can see the electronics pod is open all the way through so that will make it super easy to install the transducer and battery all in one spot. It is also easy to take in and out so that will be nice too. Man, I am looking forward to taking it out this afternoon!!! It is kind of heavy to load and unload off the jeep but not too bad especially since i have only done it once so far. I am sure as soon as I load it up a few more times i will find the sweet spot for carrying it and loading. First thing my wife said after she saw it was what's so different about this one than the last....of course I went with the safety route of it being self draining and having a better seat for my back Can't wait to take it out this afternoon!!!
  12. I finally found some pictures that showed the electronics pod so i am psyched...I am gonna go check them out tomorrow morning hopefully and maybe even come home with one I also wonder how long it will be before someone comes up with an aftermarket cover for the plastic cover in the front to shave some weight when you aren't worried about taking water over the bow.
  13. I am not in the market now but hope to be in the next year or so and i am leaning heavily at the Xpress boats. I like them when i saw them online but after seeing them in person, I was highly impressed. They are definitely worth adding to your research list.
  14. I highly doubt there were 5 teams that could come out of the east from the west. Sure the bottom of the East is pretty weak but the top teams in both conferences are good. LeBron has taken one of the most historically weak teams in NBA history to the finals and it isn't because of a weak conference either. Losing Kyrie is going to be too much for even Lebron to handle. I think they win a game or two but without some heroic contributions from role players, I don't see the cavs being able to win this series.
  15. sounds like a lot of motor for not a lot of boat to me....not to mention i would be surprised if you could even put that large of a motor on the back of a canoe without it tipping completely over.
  16. Do i really hear someone acting like university of Florida is some perfect school with no problem athletes, really? I would bet Mr. Hernandez might disagree...and the 50+ others who were arrested in the past 10 years... oh and it wasn't stereo equipment, i think it was a laptop and he has had zero issues since. People make mistakes, especially in college and the key is growing from them and moving on which it seems as though he has done.
  17. it doesn't take as long for them to start biting in a lot of cases. I have caught the same fish in the same area within 30 minutes before. But i guess the real answer is, it all depends lol
  18. i don't think having the money was the issue but cap space and figuring out if he is the reason they are performing well, but my question to all of that is always the same as it is for other teams, who are you going to replace him with that can step right in and perform at a high level......
  19. Give me a break, the dude played his guts out and took a team to the finals that has no business being there. That team is severely overmatched but they made it a close game and could have won. And you are right, he will never be Kobe or MJ, he will be Lebron and better than those two. To me Kobe isn't even close to MJ or Lebron but that is for another thread so I won't derail my own post anymore lol All of the great players in the last 20 years, for the most part are crybabies....MJ and Kobe being two of the worst offenders. If all the games are like this, it will be a good series. Not having Kyrie at 100% is going to really hurt them and their chances to win but I still think they can do it.
  20. I am pretty sure they retrofit to all ride 115 models because the seat change was mid production run. I also think they even had some sort of seat credit deal going for those who wanted the newer seat but it wasn't available right away. I am sure it isn't cheap though lol
  21. Yakattak park n pole. I know people make them on their own and it is cheaper, allegedly, but i haven't found or seen a homemade version that would hold up to the abuse i put mine through. It is also nice that they float. They make 3.5', 6' & 8' versions. I have also heard good things about the stick-it pins
  22. I have read many stories that WIlson is not going to get paid or if he is, it won't be with the seahawks. I like Russell but i do think he will get paid, somewhere because until there are 32 franchise QBs in the league, they are a top commodity. I guess that is part of the beauty of non-guaranteed contracts.
  23. It happens and if it went right into the fish's eye, would careful hook removing prevent any problems? I am guessing it wouldn't. As far as keeping fish goes, i have caught plenty of fish with one eye over the years so to release it at least gives it a chance to survive.
  24. Just curious but why does Lebron suck?
  25. I am just glad this thread wasn't started by Raider..... There is one cove on a lake I fish that has beds much like wayne posted but in an even bigger area. I have tried to get a picture but it never turns out. Maybe i will try again this weekend
