  1. and just for an FYI-the Rage blanks do use the same graphite as the avid but they are rolled in Mexico using the same equipment and techniques as in the states. The email I received basically said the rage offers less options and different lengths and actions so that is why they are made in Mexico. Anyways, carry on....
  2. I know where i am water temps are in the low to mid 80's but as we all know, bass do what they want, when they want so nothing surprises me anymore.
  3. So i just looked and while the resort is on turkey lake road, it is not on Turkey lake which looks to be further north east. The resort is actually on Big Sand Lake but i am not sure if the resort has an access point or not to the lake because if they do, I will no doubt be checking it out and if not, it looks like there are so many places to fish around there it is ridiculous .
  4. This is true but i find the bicycle style easier on the joints and a more natural motion. We also don't know what the propulsion under the boat is going to be yet I am guessing it is a prop though.
  5. No, it just means you are stuck with a bad tattoo from the 90's....
  6. So the second week of August we will be making a trip down to Orlando to stay at the in-laws timeshare at Westgate Resorts. Even though it is not a fishing trip per se, I will be bringing some of my tackle with me as I should be able to get out for a few hours here and there throughout the week. My question is does anyone know of some decent bank fishing nearby? I am pretty sure the resort is on Turkey Lake which from what i can gather, doesn't allow boats but does rent them out or maybe I am reading the regs wrong. I am still on the fence as to whether to bring my kayak down as it is a long drive and storage once I get there may be an issue as I know most of the parking decks for the parks probably wouldn't fit my Jeep with the kayak on top. Anyways, just looking for any pointers or advice you can provide.
  7. If you want to be a police officer, then why aren't you making plans to make that happen? You can go to school and get a criminal justice degree which I am sure will help you in the applicant pool. Anything you want you gotta go get, it isn't going to come to you. Your happiness and self worth is in nobody's hans but your own and being the age that you are, you still have an opportunity to make a lot of positive choices that will make life easier as you go. As you get older and have more responsibilities the choices aren't as easy to make or do.
  8. that is a big pick up for sure. It just goes to show that once you are deemed a winning franchise who settles for nothing short of winning it all, big time FA want to go there. Now if just my sixers and Tankie could get it into their head that losing on purpose is NOT a good thing and the losing culture it creates does not sit weill with players, we should be good....wishful thinking though I know
  9. Question about the Helix 5 SI unit picture posted here...I am new to the unit and still learning it and have caught a few fish based on what i have seen on the screen. My question is why does the left side of the image show vertical lines? I know horizontal lines are from the kayak rocking side to side but i can't figure out why the vertical lines are there and only on one side. I guess it could be the bottom or because when the picture was taken i stopped moving. I did notice the same type of lines when i was paddling though too. Anyways, love the unit and am definitely getting into the whole electronics aspect of fishing, I think it is time to get some marker buoys though as it will help me to mark offshore type structure since i am in a kayak it makes a little more difficult to hold my position, especially after catching a fish.
  10. i know when i set the hook and it pops i feel pressure before it breaks. When pickerel do it, it just slices through and i usually don't feel the resistance. other than that, i wouldn't call it a pattern of breakage yet but you can always try heavier line and see if it works or go to braid.
  11. But it gives you options for larger bodies of water that require more paddling and still have the option of being a boat that can be paddled easily if you don't want to use it. Personally i like my electronics pod enough that if i was going to motorize my ATAK i would save and get a torqueedo
  12. i rarely if ever take anything to eat when i am fishing. I will when i know i have a long paddle and it is usually some energy bars or a hoagie. The key for me is staying hydrated so i always have gatorades and water.
  13. definitely an interesting piece of machinery. I am looking forward to seeing it, the price and I am assuming it will but if it will retrofit into current ATAK models. I also don't want to lose my electronics pod though which i would since i am pretty sure they use the same space. Oh and don't get a 1,000 dell anything lol
  14. Are you catching fish? Are you enjoying your time on the water? if the answer to those is yes, then keep on doing whatever you want to do as it is working Sure more baits and techniques will broaden the possible bass you catch but it isn't a guarantee nor will it guarantee you have more enjoyment.
  15. For those of you in the area and fish Diascund or don't because of the massive size and difficulty trying to figure out the lake, now is your chance to get there and see it all. The lake has been drawn down about 8 feet, talked to the DGIF there today, for some dam repairs. Looks to be this way for about a year. It was already a shallow lake in general but this should really help in finding the big bass that I know are in there. It has completely changed the reservoir and for those in kayaks, I would bet there are even more areas that we can get to that the powered crafts can't. I know I will be fishing it more often than before because I am sure this drawdown has moved some bass around to place that are closer to the launch. I would bet that the area with all the lilly pads that was 4 miles from the launch is not even under water anymore.
  16. People in my neighborhood have riding mowers and they fall into the latter of these categories. If you have a lot of obstacles, you will need to get one of the zero turn deals or you will be spending as much time trimming the areas you couldn't get to as you would if you push mowed. My thought is unless i am burning an entire tank of gas on one mow then I can push.
  17. i am pretty sure that the blanks are made in the US and shipped to mexico for assembly. I am digging through my emails now to their customer service as i am pretty sure i asked them about it before and that is what i was told.

the kids keep score and know who wins at least my 5 year old son does. The other parents started calling him the unofficial score keeper in both soccer and t-ball this past year
  19. not having your own bills i guess makes "budget" a loose term lol
  20. wow cheap is $200 or less lol I like my st croix rage in MF and ih ave one in MXF, both are good rods. Not sure i would want them for drop shot but for all your other criteria they work well.
  21. Is this to the left while looking at the bait from the front or from the bait's perspective?
  22. does it actually impact the performance of the jig? I mean i have never even noticed if my swim jigs flow straight through the water but i know the still catch fish.
  23. I think the DNR does as good a job as they can given the limited manpower and resources available to them. WE are all quick to judge a situation we deem as bad but neglect the others that are doing well.
  24. I thought blue and flathead catfish were actually stocked by the DGIF at one point to increase the available sport fish to the fisherman but i could be wrong. I am pretty sure at least for flatheads it was the case in the James as I know a lot of smallmouth anglers aren't to happy because the flatheads really like to eat young smallmouth
  25. I am with the other posters in that I convince myself it isn't a bass lol I guess your tips from the other thread aren't 100% foolproof on how to not lose any fish
