  1. Here is the shimano warranty from their website.... THIS LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY DOES NOT EXTEND TO OR COVER ANY DAMAGE TO THE ROD NOT RESULTING FROM A NON-CONFORMITY IN MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP; ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BY MISUSE, ABUSE OR TAMPERING WITH THE ROD BY OTHER THAN NORMAL USE OF THE ROD; OR ANY NON-CONFORMITY OR DAMAGE RESULTING FROM REPAIRS PERFORMED OTHER THAN BY SHIMANO OR AN AUTHORIZED SHIMANO SERVICE PROVIDER. Shimano will warranty the following rods. However, if they come to us appearing to be broken in a car door, look like they have been used excessively, or we were informed by the customer that it was broken in an accident, then Shimano will NOT warranty them. Looks to me they did you a favor because trying to get a bait unhung is a classic way to abuse/break a rod.
  2. I think that was as much a BPS warranty as a shimano. I had a similar issue with two veritas rods and walked in and they said go get a new one off the rack. As far as upgrading goes, they offered me to get a credit of what i paid on the rod in store credit so i could get whatever i wanted so i don't see why they wouldn't do it on a shimano too.
  3. I'll try them when they come out. I like the ones that are already out but i prefer others when banging into cover but as a searching bait over flats they work very well. I will also echo that if you work them to fast they will roll over at times.
  4. Bottom line is you should not have exclusive access to a public resource like a lake. What people are doing is out of whack but apparently it isn't hurting people's bags as there are some big numbers being pulled out of the lake. Also the comparison to a golf course is not even close to the same thing, even if it is a "public" course.
  5. New stove and microwave...last of the appliances to replace in our kitchen.
  6. I'll add to the fray here and say go with family. I am in the midst of going to school for a career change for two reasons, one is i am tired of the corporate world and have always wanted to teach so that is what i am doing (with a pretty substantial pay cut too) and 2 i wanted to be able to spend more time at home with my family, especially as he is growing up. Who wouldn't want their son to be their fishing buddy all summer long I know i sure do.... No brainer, if you can pay the bills and get more family time then go for it. Good luck with whatever decision you do make as i know on paper the decisions are always easy but in reality they are more complex.
  7. This guy obviously likes selling and is apparently good at it by his own accord and it seems like he likes fishing too....so he made an attempt to be able to sell things he likes to use and maybe make a little coin on the side. It doesn't sound like he wants to make a career out of being a tackle touter but everyone starts small. I would bet that every full time pro angler started out small and went from there. And you are in fact doing the company a favor by begin a good salesman, especially if you get in stores they weren't before as that is how every company makes money...through sales.
  8. that is what the BPS flyer said....new lower price or something like that
  9. Nice!! the veritas isn't that great of a deal though....the new price on them is 79.99
  10. not a bad thing at all.....
  11. Since my name is Jason and i have driven through voorhees NJ i am going with jason.....FK seems like a kid who was picked on growing up so he had to make a glove in his parent's basement to get back at everyone....at age 40......
  12. "Angling is extremely time consuming. That's sort of the whole point." - Thomas McGuane "The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?" Lee Wulff Two of my favorites...
  13. Maybe the genie is merely letting you know that all your preparation, skill and timing is going to culminate in the bass of a lifetime on that next cast, not that they are influencing the next cast. The hard part would be if you don't, that means you have to give up fishing or give in and make the next cast but if you do make that cast you know that you will never surpass that fish for the rest of your life.
  14. He caught 5 today.....3 on day one. Makes the math much easier
  15. I always like statistical analysis.....my question is with regards to length of career and number of events begin the indicator. Were the same number of tournaments available back in the day? If not, than this would not be a fair indicator for weighting the career numbers. Kind of like NFL players don't have to play as many years to get the same number of games as those form when the league had 12 or 14 games.
  16. I want the Native Mariner. I like the hobie boats but i also like the ability to pedal in reverse and the circular motion of the native drive. Now take all this wit ha grain of salt as i have yet to pedal either but i am a cyclist so i am thinking the native motion will be easier for me. I have also read a few reviews about the flippers on the hobie getting bent up semi-easily where the native propel drive has a shear pin like a trolling motor and if you leave it unhooked it will pop up if you hit an obstruction. I hope to test pedal both this summer at some point and make a purchase in the fall when dealers are unloading their 2014 stock. I want to save for a trailer too so the process is a little slow
  17. I would keep the reels as the majority of freshwater species unless you get into big carp, pike or muskie you won't even be using the reel much if at all. It is merely a counterbalance and a line storage device. the problem with older rods, in my opinion, is they are generally slower action which makes casting bigger, heavier more wind resistant flies a bit more difficult. Not saying it can't be done, but it is easier wit ha faster action rod. Do yourself a favor though, if you really want to get into it go ahead and get yourself a fly casting lesson from your local shop and it will dramatically shorten your learning curve and probably get you a discount on some gear, at least the shop i used to give lessons at did.
  18. Good advice and i will also add with the raised seat positions some yaks need a longer paddle as well. I had to go to a longer paddle for my coosa after selling my redfish. Luckily it also works very well fro the captain's perch on the commander as well. Hopefully my next yak the paddle will be an after thought as i have my eyes set on a pedal drive :)
  19. That makes no sense about paddling faster and turning better unless of course the blade is way larger or better sized to your body or paddle stroke. As far as a light paddle goes, you will appreciate it when it is 7:00pm and you have a 5mile paddle to get back to the ramp before dark
  20. I think Linder could fish in a puddle and catch a citation szed fish of any species
  21. nothing really....much like many others who are on the jordan is the best wagon too. Nothing to change the game necesarrily but did what he did very well
  22. I will agree that hte best bang for the buck is a stradic and for 130 it is definitely a steal.
  23. I am gonna go with rick clunn. To win the biggest tourney on the biggest stage in three different decades with all the new tecnology, gear, baits and increasing competition each year is very impressive. He won his first bassmaster classic when KVD was 8. To be an all time great longevity comes in to play in my mind and while KVD will probably get there evenetually, he just isn't there for me yet.
  24. ehhh....no use arguing because there is no way to ever say who is the best tournament fisherman ever, even if my opinion he is not the best ever.
