  1. lol your friends deserved that......I haven't sold anything on there but i will say when i want to have some entertainment for the day i read the rants & raves section....talk about some looney tunes
  2. Do you have the news story for this one as i can't find anything related to it begin true? I am a sucker for urban legends and this has urban legend written all over it.... thread hijack over now proceed back to your normally scheduled posting
  3. the idea is cool but i have enough plastics that i don't use so for now, i will not be getting any more lol
  4. get the UHMW if you can too.......everyone i know who has it loves and those who don't want it. it really helps to protect the boat and slide over any ledges or rocks you may run into.
  5. I plan on using the smoker in full force with at minimum 2 racks of ribs, a small pork shoulder, sausage and maybe a brisket point and some jalapeño poppers...after that it doesn't even matter . I like meat with a side of meat for these types of occasions
  6. Studies have shown that lifting weights will burn fat faster than just cardio. It builds muscle mass which boosts metabolism.
  7. I am a skitter pop fan as well and they do make a larger version......Honestly though most times if i am throwing a popper it is on the fly rod
  8. there is also a mid atlantic kayak series but that would be a haul for you as most are in the northern VA maryland area
  9. I watched that auction on discovery or something....completely ridiculous and even more so that some of the cars were still brand new meaning never titled!!
  10. i am in the braid crowd for cranking....8lb diameter gets the baits down deeper and more quickly than with flouro or mono in my experience. I wouldn't use braid without a parabolic bending crank bait specific rod though as you need some additional shock in the system to keep those trebles hooked up.
  11. there are quite a few online tourneys and i have seen them in the salt more than the freshwater but htey are out there. Do a searh for kayak bass fishing open....it is in Santee Cooper this year again i beleive for it's second year
  12. yup that is the exact boat he has i think lol....and yes the Riverpro is one of the top boats out there but everyone has their preference. A lot of companies do make outboard jets boats too like G3 and xpress boats i beleive. WHen creating a jet it has to have a tunnel hull to help in drawing water into the intake and keeping the draft shallow while on plane.
  13. there is no place you can't take a jet but you have to be more careful in grass areas when idling around as it can clog the intake. My dad has an inboard jet tracker and takes it on lakes about 30% of the time but they really shine on shallow rivers. WWW.riversmallies.com has a lot of guys running jets on shallow rivers so yuo might want to chek out the site and do a search to see what is there as far as info goes. If i was going to fish lakes as often as rivers i would look at an outboard jet simply beacuse it can be easier to unclog when needed. I know when i am in the market for a boat i think i am going ot go with an outboard jet for the ease of cleaning should i clog
  14. There is a guy down the street from my parents, and where i grew up, that had a bad a$$ nova, fully restored etc....unfortunately it has jsut sat and sat and has pretty much rotted away. When i was there over Christmas i took a look at it and offered to buy it for cheap but he had an unrealistic value in his head....so i guess it rots.....sad
  15. To me it is more of where you catch the smallies. I fish moslty rivers for smallies and i agree that i get more of a topwater bite for smallmout but i believe it is more because of the type of fishery and the lack of available forage, meaning they are more opportunistic feeders. I have fished for smallies all day and never took a topwater off the fly rod but that is rarely the case in largemouth fishing. One thing i will add is that i do not tend to get the big girls smallmouth fishing on topwater unless it is a prime condition for them where largemouth it seems to be more sprad out as far as size goes. Lake smallies, i cannot comment because i have never caught a smallie in non-moving water.
  16. Sounds like you need one of these too.... http://www.hammacher.com/Product/Default.aspx?sku=83858 :D
  17. I guess i am blessed in that weight loss isn't a primary goal of mine but rather just getting back in shape. I could probably stand to lose about 10lbs but i would rather just keep working out and let it happen as my body adjusts....i know one thing though, and this happens abotu week 3 in every workout plan i do, is my metabolism kicks in like no other and i am always hungry. THe other night i woke up at 4am with my stomach growling. Guess it is time to get a caesin protein shake going before bed to help me sleep lol
  18. I am about to start week 3 of p90x and have done pretty well so far with the diet and workouts but this weekend was a little bit of a drop off as far as diet goes...i tend to eat more carbs than i should on the weekend but during the week i limit them pretty well. I am really looking forward to it warming up enough to get the ice off the road so i can get on my bike without fear of killing myself
  19. one time deal but in the right conditions fish can be caught on top all throughout the year. I have caught largemouth and smallmouth on top with water temps in the low 40's but it was only when i saw action on top already on a warm day.
  20. I'll buck the trend here and say neither....to me you defeat the entire purpose of having a sleek phone when you put one of those horrible cases on there. Yes they do their job as intended but to me if i can't put it in my pocket then i am not getting it. I have one of these cases http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/IPH5KXNU/ and it has done me well so far. Also get the insurance and that way if anything happens you pay a deductible and you have a new phone....end of story lol
  21. flyfisher replied to Sam's topic in Everything Else
i agree with all the stuff other than this part....it is very rarely the top seeds that make the Super Bowl. I believe this is the first time in over ten years it has happened
  22. congrats to everyone working towards their goals!! I got back on the workout for workout's sake bandwagon a few weeks ago and feel pretty good. I prefer to not work out just to work out but unfortunately as i have gotten older i don't have the time to play like i used to but i always have an hour of time to do something work out related. I think i am going to sign up for the MS150 charity bike ride here in VA in June which will motivate me to get on the bike a little more often than normal. It sucks to not be in shape when trying to ride from Richmond VA to Williamsburg VA and then back the next day
  23. that thing is ridiculous.
