  1. That is what happnes with cheaper sunglasses. The distortion in the lens can cause your eyes to work overtime. Now not all pairs will have the problem but you see it more often in the lower price points. I would pick up a quality pair of Costa or Smith sunglasses. If you look at www.sierratradingpost.com they always have sunglasses in there and for great prices.
  2. Now i see where you are coming from. It isn't the cost as much as it is the inconsitency of the cost. I totally agree that nobody wants to be on teh shipping or receiving end of an item that is damaged in transit. I actually had a fed ex package delievered to me that was supposed to be 2 50" thule bars. I received the item with one end busted out and obvisouly no bars. How the crap do you lose a set of bars lol Luckily the seller/shipper was cool and refinded me some of my money and was then later reimbursed by fed ex.
  3. I will be pulling for pittsburgh this year since obviously my phillies are jacked up. I hope the braves implode......again. I wouldn't mind seeing a Pittsburgh indians WS
  4. Do you really think he would come out and say yeah i packed it like crap? That is even more silly than saying 25-30 isn't reasonable to ship an oversized, hard to store item cross country. I seriously doubt anyone packs an item with the intentions of it not making it one piece but with shipping, and anything, experience comes in to play. Just like i doubt you fish the same way you did when you first started or the first time you change a tire on your car you learn things and do it better and potentially different the next time.
  5. You really think it is riduclous to mail something cross country for $20 -30$? Sorry but i think it is a pretty good deal myself. I know i couldn't drive myself and deliver it for that cheap. And nobody knows how it was broken. I have seen cardboard tubes get banged up pretty good before and being a round container i am sure it doesn't want to sit right in their trucks both in transport and in the actual delivery. The OP never said if the cardboard tube was damaged jsut the rod was in pieces so who knows whose fault it really is.... Sorry to derail....
  6. I was perusing the standings today jsut to see exactly how bad the phillies are....and yes they are really that bad. I also noticed that there is a seriously good potetial to have multiple 100 game winning teams this year. There have only b een three teams since 2008 to notch 100 wins and only the yankees won it all in 2009 the year they did it. In 2005 the cards had 100 wins and the white sox had 99 but that is the closest it has come since 2004 when the yankees and Cardinals eclipsed the 100 win mark and in 2003 when 3 teams met the mark. So after all that i guess having multiple 100 win teams isn't super rare but it has been quite a few years since it has occurred.
  7. I wouldn't worry about getting the schedule 20...the schedule 40 is cheap at about $4 for a 10 foot piece of 1" or you could probably use conduit, it's grey and used for electrical not plumbing, as well which for a 1 1/2" piece runs about the same price. The conduit is more flexible but if you have it in a cardboard tube you will be fine.
  8. I would love to see him in the phillies pinstripes again next year but i can't blame the guy if he leaves. He came to philly to win a championship and came close but no dice so if he left to go to a contender, outside of the NL east, i wouldn't be that upset. Even with a mediocre offense with hamels, lee and halladay the phillies could do alright and be right in the hunt if they can get into the playoffs.....one can dream.
  9. Are you sure they don't have it at home depot? Every time i have been there they had it and they also have it listed online. And if they have just the tubing and not an end cap just stuff the ends with packing material and tape over it then slide the entire thing i na cardboard tube and you should be good. If you are looking for the screw end caps i woudln't worry about that and just slide the cap on the end and tape it before putting it in the cardboard tube. As far as where else to get it, you can check with plumbing or electrical supply houses.
  10. Are those polarized sunglasses at least? Nice smallie though....
  11. Definitely a cool video. We used to go down to the mountain creeks whenever there was a big storm back in college. Which by itself was ok but we were stupid enough to try and swim across them when they were about 8 feet higher than normal......i only did it once and it scared the bejesus out of me when i jumped in went under and popped up about 300 yards down stream in a matter of seconds.....we are all lucky to still be around. To bad there weren't gopros around back then because that would have been some killer footage
  12. yup haad the same thing happen last year. I was fishing a bedding bass and finally coaxed her to bite. Got her in the yak had her laid on my hawg trough went to snap a pic and she flopped and was out of the boat as fast as ever. I learned a few things though. 1-don't lay the hawg trough across the gunwales of the kayak 2-get out of hte baot if possible to make sur you can secure the fish before pictures. She measured at 26" and was fat as fat can be....my best guesstimate was 9-10lbs and would have won me a kayak in the online tournament i was in but such is life. Unfortunately the lake she was in was drawn down a ton for dam repairs so i couldn't find her this year.
  13. Harper is a punk and his game is slightly above average. He is a flat out dumb ball player and talent only takes you so far in the league. I used to say i would like him if he was on the phillies but after his stupidity this season i don't even think that is the case anymore. I hope washington gives him an A-roid type contract and it hurts them financially for a loooong time ala the texas rangers. Like i stated before, the nationals got on their high horse last year and thought they would be back in the playoffs so they elected to mismanage strasburg's innings and now they are paying the price. Ask Cal Ripken how long you can go without seeing the world series after going what, when he was a rookie? The nationals heads got way to big way to fast and it is showing. Anyways.....anyone have an idea of where halladay is going to go next year? I heard on sports radio he is starting his rehab assignment and he says he hasn't felt this good in years. Part of me actually thinks the phillies could be right back in it if they sign halladay and he is 80% of normal and they pick up a little offense in the free agent pool. I am liking what i am seeing from Asche and Ruff now that they are getting some playing time and they are both really young players. The NL east is by no means strong and while the braves are running away with the division, if you take away their stellar start and the current run they are pretty much a .500 team who is benefiting fro ma weak division.
  14. That is how i fish mine 95% of the time.
  15. There is no such thing as a crappy job if it pays the bills or feeds the family. I was taught very young that there are certain jobs that may not be pleasant but they nee to be done and to never look down on the people who do them because you never know if you will be that person one day. Sounds to me like the OP has a little bit of a silver spoon in his mouth but i digress.....back to your regularly scheduled programming.
  16. I read somewhere that Alton Jones used that technique when searching for bedded bass that he couldn't spot due to the conditions. They would hit the bait and revela themselves which would the nreceive a quick follow up cast to the area with the same bait. I will agree that there are better baits for a slow retrieve but try it and see if it works, you never know.
  17. According to the commercials you can do anything and everything with it and have no worries about it breaking Any small baits that will benefit from having a whippier rod that aids in casting will work. I am thinking small topwaters, cranks, rooster tails etc...
  18. Nothing wrong with chucking live bait. I will do it in the winter time while i am working artificials to help pass the time and up my odds a little bit. Funny thing is this past winter i did better on artificials than i did with the live bait....go figure.
  19. Bummer but you know it is in there and unless you were throwing an ultralight, i highly doubt the spinning tackle had anything to do with losing the fish
  20. so it is more stellar because you enjoy it...that i can totally understand. All I meant was......ahh never mind. Work as much as you want to buy your toys and enjoy them as much as you can. There is a reason it took me 12 years or so to graduate college.....with a bachelors degree. To many hobbies and places to go
  21. If you held it even closer to the camera you could probably have said it was 6lbs!!! Nice fish and great job on getting your PB.
  22. I almost forgot about the norman fat boy.....i bought one based on your recommendation on another thread (i think) and that thing has flat out produced for me ever since.
  23. Since when is 7.25 an hour a stellar job? lol you have a lot of growing up to do Get whatever makes you happy because in a week or so it will change.....that is how fishing gear goes for some people.
  24. Another vote for the citica e or g.....i have both and they are both good reels and willl last for years and if you want you can upgrade during once of your yealry cleanings and get to pretty much the same performance level of a curado. Also think about how many hours you are working at 7.25 an hour for that difference in price. I do that myself when it comes to making decisions and it helps me to decide if it is worth that much more work.
  25. This year my big winner has been a Rapala DT10 in bleeding olive shiner fished along dropoffs or weed edges with your standard cast and retriece with the occasional twitch, stop or rip out of the grass motion. I have used the same color in various other depths too and had good success so it is probably the color or my confidence as much as anything.
