  1. What's your average bank fishing trip like? Some guys talk about 50 fish days and more but I'm assuming this is mainly from a boat with electronics and access to the whole lake. When you fish from the bank, how many do you usually catch and how long are you fishing for? Also maybe describe the body of water your fishing or better yet post some pics showing the spots you fish. For me, I usually get to the lake just before sunrise and fish for about 2 hours or so and I get about 2-3 fish per trip. I feel like I'd do better if there was more fishable shoreline. It's a 50 acre lake with an average depth of about 5 feet and lots of thick weeds all the way around. The only spots to fish are the dam (when there isn't water flowing over it which isn't often), 2 small areas along the bank of the creek below the dam, the boat ramp, a small bridge over a lane of water between 2 weed lines, and another small pond which won't be accessible once spring/summer hit and all the vegetation grows in. 2. Squarebill. Spinnerbaits are starting to become a close second.
  3. Good looking fish!

  5. I lost a big one last time I went. I was fishing a crankbait along a weedline and something hit it. I set the hook and started reeling but it didn't seem like I was getting anywhere and it didn't really feel like whatever was on the other end was moving so I thought I was just caught in the weeds. But as soon as I let up a little on it, I felt whatever was on the other end start to shake and before I could put pressure back on, it was off. Whatever it was had some weight to it too. Hopefully tomorrow I can land it.
  6. Congratulations! Now get a fishing rod in that kid's hand ASAP!
  7. Nice man! I'm planning on going out for an hour or 2 in the morning. Wouldn't mind hooking into a 4 pounder myself.
  8. Nice fish man...WTG!
  9. If your bank fishing, find a nice open area with as few snags as possible. I spend an awful lot of time getting my girlfriends lures out of trees.
  10. Whenever I'd go camping as a kid, my parents always just brought cereal with plastic bowls/spoons. But then we were always camping in a camp ground and ice was readily available so keeping the milk cold wasn't an issue. If your like wilderness camping, this probably won't work so well.
  11. Caught my first Rage Tail fish ever yesterday on a Shellcracker. I also tried out the Eeliminator. I gotta say I LOVE the action on these. Whether its the buzzing action of the tail when you burn it on top or the slow subtle back and forth twitch that it has when fished slow just below the surface, I just know this is gonna catch me some fish when the topwater bite picks up. I'll definitely be picking up a few more RT products!

  13. I agree with this. I don't think I've ever heard it used here in a negative way.
  14. Its not just forums or bass fishing. The terms used in skating, videogames, and just about anything else. I personally don't mind being referred to as a noob. At least not as far as fishing goes. In a few years I might have a different opinion but for now, its pretty applicable.
  15. Congrats on the PB! Personally, I think I'm done with trout now that I'm catching bass again. Besides, I think the power baiters caught up all the trout like a week after they stocked em.
  16. I like my 6'6'' 2 piece. I have a small car and its just a lot easier to fit the 2 piece rod in the trunk. I've never had a problem with the top piece coming off but I'm also pretty diligent about checking the part where it connects (as well as any other removable parts like the reel handle) every so often to make sure nothings loose.
  17. X's 2 on that. I first tried it on 10lb line and it didn't seem to do anything. Later on in the year I tried it on my trout rod with 4lb line and it had much better action.
  18. Awesome! I was just thinking the other day that I hadn't seen any monster Big-O fish in a while.
  19. Dang man...nice fish!

  21. Hello and welcome!
  22. Sounds like a good idea to me. Definitely useful to be able to identify poisonous plants and snakes and a good point was made about the different types of trees growing in different settings. Also might not be a bad idea to have some basic first aid knowledge. Not sure if you'd consider that 'wilderness training' but still good to know.
