  1. I don't think its bad etiquette to ask about lures/presentations but as others have said, being polite and genuine is the key. Sometimes I ask and if someone asks me, Ill give them all the info I can. As long as they're not trying to fish right on top of me, I have no problem with it. I can recall 2 situations where information was offered to me without me even asking asking. The first was my very first time bass fishing. I was on a dam and throwing a t-rigged worm and this old guy that was crappie fishing comes over and starts talking to me. "Catching anything? How long you been fishing? I caught a couple last week on a t-rig. That's a good color worm. Work it like this. Try casting it over there". Dude gave me a little 15 minute seminar on the t-rig. A short while later, I caught 3 within about a 45 minutes. Another time on the same dam I was fishing a crankbait with no luck. There were these 2 guys trout fishing on the other side and one of them pulled in a 2lb bass. The guy holds it up to me and shouts out "Caught him on a white roostertail!". I tied one on and immediately start catching em. These 2 experiences really stuck with me. So I'm more than happy to share my fishing knowledge (the little that I have) and I'd even be willing to share some soft plastics with the right kind of person. Hard baits, I dunno. I'd like to be able to but moneys tight and lures are a bit to pricey to be giving away.
  2. K. Thanks. Just out of curiosity what difference would it make? Would it change the bait's action if I did it the other way?
  3. Awesome fish!
  4. I'm trying to replace hooks on a Rapala X-Rap Shad. I found the bait and the hooks were gone to begin with so I have nothing to compare it to. The Rapala website says its supposed to have one size 5 and one size 6. But which one goes where? Is the front hook the bigger one or the back hook?
  5. Booyah Pond Magic Spinnerbait in Junebug Scumfrog Popping Frog in Green/Yellow Bandit 200 Crank in Solid Black Strike King Red Eye Shad in Chart. Sexy Shad $1 WalMart Spinnerbait in Red/Yellow I also got some split rings/split ring pliers. I found some lures last year on the banks of my lake with rusted out hooks and split rings. So aside from what I bought, I was also able to revive a Rapala X-Rap Shad in Olive Green, a Rapala Shallow Shad Rap in Blue/Orange, and another Bandit 200 in Mistake.
  6. If your talking about in your skin like past the barb, then 0 but I haven't been fishing too long and I know its coming. Seems kind of unavoidable.
  7. I don't fish a c-rig often but I like the idea of a c-rigged crankbait. How heavy a weight does it take to get a floating crank like the square a to stay down?
  8. Sucks man. I threw my back out skating like 12 years ago. I physically could not stand up strait for 2 days. I know a lot of people aren't crazy about them but I eventually went to a chiropractor. I don't remember exactly what the problem was but he took some x-rays, gave me a few quick adjustments, and I was good as new in about 5 minutes. Still a little sore for another day or 2 but the problem was solved. Whatever your problem turns out to be, get yourself right and get back out on that water asap.
  9. Nice fish! I was also fishing a 3/8oz SK spinnerbait on 10# mono and a medium rod today but I didn't catch anything. Congrats!
  10. I went out this morning myself with no luck. Caught a couple the last few times I went out but today I got skunked. Just keep at it. They gotta start biting sooner or later.
  11. Glad you had a good trip. Its always fun to fish a new spot, even if your not catching monsters.
  12. I use Zoom and I have a pack or 2 of the Berkley Powerbait ones but after trying some Rage Tail products for the first time recently (and really liking what I saw), I may have to try their lizards too.
  13. Agreed 100%. She was annoying since the first season and when she died I was like "yes! finally!" but then she comes back in ghost form. I'm anxious to see the finale. You know someone is probably gonna be killed off and everyone left is a really good solid character. I'd hate to see any of them go. I keep thinking in the back of my mind that it might be Glen or Maggie.
  14. Very interesting. I'm gonna start keeping a couple paper clips and a lighter in my tackle box.
  15. Didn't think about that. Gas ain't cheap and then what if something needs to be repaired or whatever. I've considered a canoe or kayak but I can be kind of clumsy sometimes. I can just see me going to set the hook and tipping the thing over.
  16. Welcome to BR!
  17. That sounds a lot like me. 1/4 oz Spinnerbaits, shallow cranks, frogs, and t rigs mostly. I really do like bank fishing and I guess since I usually only have an hour or 2 in the mornings, a boat would really be more trouble than its worth on those days. But I just feel like I'm missing out on so much of the lake.
  18. One of my favorite shows. The wait til next season is going to be excruciating. They just came out with the Walking Dead video game. Thinking about picking that up to hold me over til the show starts up again. I also want to read the comics. Barnes and Noble has the first 2 compendiums for like 35 bucks a piece.
  19. Nice way to get your season started off...congrats!
  20. Sorry to hear your first trip of the season didn't go so well. This stupid weather needs to make up its mind. It doesn't know whether it wants to be snowing or 60 and sunny.
  21. Varied responses as I expected. I'd like to try wading but there are 'no swimming/wading' signs all over my lake so I guess that's out. I think this season I'm gonna try and use more baits that the local tackle shops don't carry. Maybe give the fish something that aren't used to seeing every day. Hopefully that will make a bit of difference. This guy I work with and fish with sometimes keeps talking about getting a boat. It sure would be nice to get off the bank.
  22. Wow man...I don't think I've ever seen so many monster fish in one thread. Congrats to the 3 of you!
  23. Hello and welcome!
