  6. The bass in the lakes I usually fish have pretty much shut down so Ive been going after trout recently. Ive been catching them on inline spinners but Ive seen others crushing them with powerbait. If you don't know any streams with a natural trout population, maybe check the PA DNR website and see if they stock them anywhere. You could also try pickerel. They should hit any bass lure you have.
  7. Hey knightiac, Ill take those KVD 1.5/2.5's off your hands if you don't want em!

  9. Mine is to catch my first 5 pounder. Can't wait for spring! Hey roadwarrior, love the santas. I think they're supposed to be tip-toeing but they look like they're moon walking. Nice.
  10. Fried crab cakes are where its at. You gotta pick the meat for em yourself. If you buy it I'd say use jumbo lump but fresh picked is better.
  11. Yeah thats basically what it is. But its way better if I make it myself. Whenever I go to a Taco Bell, I always end up waiting for like 20 minutes and the food looks like slop. In theory, TB should be good but the ones around here always fail miserably so I just save my money.
  12. Ive only been at this a few months and haven't really gotten into tournaments and pros and who won what on which bait. Like everyone else, the colors I choose on the lake are based on lighting/weather conditions, water clarity, and available forage. On the other hand the colors I choose when Im in the store are often based on "aw sweet...I don't have anything in that color yet". Im still building up my tackle collection and Id like to try and be prepared for anything. If I have all the basic colors of a particular bait, I might buy a more random color just to give it a try. Maybe give the bass something they haven't seen before.
  13. Excellent! I may just do that.
  14. Hopefully they'll get fixed. It shouldn't be a problem when it gets warmer and the bass go shallow but it's kinda shut down the end of my season. Ive still been able to get pickerel and trout fishing the exit stream below the dam but I haven't seen a bass in about a month or so now.
  15. Not really sure. I suppose its possible but the banks of these lakes are mostly rocky. I do know that the water was flowing pretty heavily over the dams since the hurricane until about a week ago. So Im guessing that anything that did get into the water most likely got piled up against the dam.
  16. Were talking legit concrete dams. I hope its not permanent. Theres only so many many spots on these lakes where you can get down to the water and I can't afford a boat.
  17. Thanks for that flyfisher. I had it darting pretty good after a little while. At one point was a fishing large patch of lilly pads with a couple of big branches in them and I see what you mean about being able to sort of steer the bait. Ill give nose hooking a try if Im around some open water but a lot of what I fish is pretty snaggy. What about the double fluke rig? Do you guys think that it would have enticed some bites or would it work better if the bite is already on?
  18. Heres the situation. I have 3 lakes close to me that I go to and Im fishing from the bank/dam. One is about 20 acres and the other two are about 50. According to the Maryland DNR website, the lakes range in depth from about 3-8 feet with the deepest water being right near the dams. Ive been fishing these lakes since July and this has seemed accurate. However, since the hurricane in October, the bottoms seem all moved around. Now I can see the bottom about 2 and a half feet down, even off the middle of the dam where the water should be deepest. The surface of the water is at the same level (right up to the edge of the dam) but the bottom is about 5 feet higher than it should be. From what I can feel when Im fishing, its now a long shallow flat as far as Im able to cast. It wouldn't be a problem if it were the middle of the summer but with the water temps dropping, 2 feet of water isn't really cutting it. Has anyone ever expierienced anything like this? Im trying to firgue out whats happened here and why. Also is it going to eventually get back to the way it was and if so how long will it take?
  19. I like the taco kits. Sometimes instead of ground beef we'll get the cut pieces of steak or chicken instead. I like making hard tacos and then putting cheese on a soft taco shell and wrapping it around the hard taco. Tonights gonna be chili with Tostitos scoops and cornbread muffins. Then homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
  20. Thanks for the tips guys. I just got back. Actually hit 2 different lakes. Total fish count: 0 Bass, 1 Pickerel and I didn't get him on the fluke. At least I was able to get the feel for them though. I fished them weightless and on a swimbait hook with steady, erratic, and sweeping retrieves. Gotta say they look great. I really like the action. Pretty much looks like a legit baitfish. I cant wait to fish them again when the fish are actually biting.
  21. Bout to go fishing. Stopping at this local pit beef place for a breakfast sandwhich. Scrapple Egg and Cheese and hash browns!
  22. Aw man...I want some tacos now. Haven't had them in months. Not real tacos anyway. Taco Bell doesn't count.
  23. Nice looking fish. I don't wanna sound dumb but I haven't been fishing that long. What exactly is a spot. It looks like a bass. Some kind of hybrid perhaps?
