  1. I'm going to the Richmond VA show 1/25-27 they have Hank Parker and Shaw Grigsby, my 2 favorite pros... It is promised to be bigger, better, and more bass fishing oriented than the slowly dying Bass-A-Rama...We'll see, I am hopeful. Harrisburg PA has the Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show every winter, and it usually goes about 10 days and is Massive. It has become more and more hunting oriented, and most of the fishing stuff is either guide advertisement booths, or fly fishing stuff. Very few Bass related things, but enough to bring me back every year...This years is the starting Feb 2 thru Feb 10 and supposedly promises much more fishing and tackle related booths... http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071207/OUTDOORS02/71206016/-1/OUTDOORS02
  2. I keep 3 in my 'Panic Box' a silver, a gold, and a nickel colored one. I wind up throwing them quite a bit. They are excellent lures, and I don't even put a trailer on them.
  3. Thanks for the article. I was under the impression that BPS and Cabelas were putting their bagley's on sale to make room for a couple of new lines that Bagley is producing. They are coming out with injection plastic KB1 and KB2s that suspend. They have a new plastic topwater coming out, and they are moving from the clear plastic lips to the micarta lips. I love bagleys (aside from the fragile paint coat) and would hate to see them go. I'm glad you found that article.
  4. A cool new mean looking lure. I saw them today at Cabelas, but passed them up to pick up a King Shad... $10 each, they are a little steep for something not named LC or Megabass... Has anyone seen them or used them yet? http://www.spro.com/products/product_info.php?products_id=112
  5. I agree. I have had three different hook sharpeners, and I sold them all on ebay. They were garbage. You don't have to break the bank and get Owner or Gammies, you can find suitable sharp hooks at BPS for as much as you would pay in a sharpener, batteries, frustration, and time lost...
  6. Cool thanks. About how many tackle vendors were there? Any cool deals?
  7. Cool. If you can, post afterwards and let me know if it is worth the 3 hour drive for me on Sunday...Thanks!
  8. I have used Gambler Cane Toads, Sizmic Toads, Zoom Horny Toads, Yum Toads, Ribbit's, and the Power Bait Frog. I prefer Gambler Cane Toads and Sizmic Toads far above and beyond anything else. They outfish all other toads for me. Aggressive fish love any of the toads, but have found that picky fish want the Cane Toad or the Sizmic. If they are particularly finicky that day, I use the smaller sized Sizmic toad, which is half the size of any other toad on the market. I have had 20 bass days on just the small Sizmic toad in Pumpkin/Pearl belly version. Awesome bait. I don't even bother with any of the other brands anymore.
  9. I like the ones in the blue packaging, but do not like his 'Premium Balsa' line of baits. The Lee Sisson Line is very similar in look and quality to the Bagley crankbaits, and they are generally cheaper. I bought a bunch of his flat sided cranks, and have had no problems with them. I have had to tune them every once in a while, but no more than any other balsa cranks that I have.
  10. Anyone seen these? Although it's a musky lure, they look neat, kind of like a really big version of the MegaBait Charlie. Can't tell if it is soft plastic, hard plastic, or a little of both... http://www.eaglesportscenter.com/products/bucher/joe.htm
  11. Dang, that is an impressive number of bass. I didn't do nearly that well (and I didn't record nearly that well either!). 22 times out 93 bass (both large and smallmouth). Skunked only one time when I took my kids with me. I would say 70-75 of those were 3 pounds or less. Biggest of the year was 8 pounds 4oz. I don't think that's too bad for a shore bound angler.
  12. Never heard of them, but checked out their website. Pics on the products are fuzzy... Some stuff looked like exact copies of existing baits (especially the frog body)... http://deepcreeklures.com/cart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5 MT Worm description is funny.
  13. Does it have better construction than the Strike King Cranks? If I spend $20-25 on a lure, I want to be able to use it for a long time. And what rod/reel do you find best for your King Shad/Rip Shad?
  14. You can buy a mess of treble hook guards and then throw the baits into a hip pack or something...
  15. Cultiva/Owner Tango Dancer (the bait the Reaction Innovation Vixen was cloned from) is an excellent bait, it walks with ease, has great patterns, and the sharpest hooks out there. It is a little larger than the sammy or a spook, but that makes it even better for me. If you can find them, snap them up. You can usually find them for around 8-9 bucks. The Bagley Chug-O or Pop'N B are great popper baits that give a slightly different profile than most other poppers. Hard to find, they are around 10 bucks. Cavitron Buzzbaits are the best, but Booyah buzzbaits work just fine (don't buy that stupid one with the 12 wire shaft - waste of money). And another favorite, which is a topwater/very shallow running crank, is the Megabass Anthrax, a minnow stickbait that is build upside down to look like a fish gone belly up. It is a productive and fun lure to use. The best place to find all of these baits, In My Opinion, is Ebay. I don't have a convenient BPS and Cabelas (plus with the horror stories I've heard about both shipping departments, I would stay away from mail order). Gander Mountain will carry the LC and the Bagleys. I don't know where to find MB except for online.
  16. Well, in that case, Ebay here I come...
  17. I wonder if the coffee is a taste they prefer, or just strong enough to cover up more bad tasting stuff. Kinda reminds me of stories of drug dogs being confused by marijuana hidden in containers of coffee when dealers try to sneak them across the border... It probably works just as good as Yum, Anise, or other scent maskers.
  18. I have about 5 shallow of the cyclones, and 1 deep one. Both produce for me. Supposedly the lure has a totally different sound in the water than anything else, it 'whines' or 'hums'. It is wider than most cranks, and is a bit flatter like a frog lure rather than like a traditional crankbait. It swims well though, does not turn over at high speeds, and comes with hooks that are as sharp or sharper than anything else out there. The colors are intricate. I love everything about the cyclone. The cyclone is a bigger version of the Griffon, also a great bait, but pretty small.
  19. Whoa, I'm scrapping any bassarama plans and heading to that one! Hank Parker and Shaw Grigsby are my favorite two Pros. Thanks a ton for that link!
  20. You just made LC some more money... You are a minion of the bait monkey.
  21. That isn't the right one. Here is the one that says it incorporated the BassARama show: http://boating-industry.com/output.cfm?ID=1272673 Looking at the exhibitors of this show, I might not go: http://www.macevents.com/show.cfm/eventID/123
  22. Anyone going this weekend? The Bass-A-Rama show got gobbled up by the Richmond Boat Show, dunno what vendors will be there, but usually they get about a dozen pretty good tackle vendors. Anyone have a list on who will be there this year? Anyone plan on going?
  23. The Bass-A-Rama in Richmond VA is this coming weekend... It has been combined with a Boat Show, but I hear the same dealers from last year will be there this year... I also usually go to the Harrisburg PA outdoorsman show, but might skip it this year since the focus is mostly on trout and walleye these day...
  24. Lucky craft uses VMC hooks.
  25. Mine is a Bagley B3 in Black and Chartreuse, dive 1-4 feet. The one I have has two line ties one high, and one low, each one with a dramatically different wobbling action. I tore up some lakes and ponds this summer. Runner up would be the Bagley B2 in the same color. Also with 2 line ties...
