  1. Originally from Central Illinois(Wenona) lived the last 38 years in St Louis and guided on the Gasgonade/Big Piney rivers in Missouri for the past 25 years and I now live on Lake Harris in Leesburg, Fl where I try to fish at least 6 days a week "S" ;D ;D
  2. Redtail...I'll take that offer LOL. No really I would not even consider shiners if my eyesight was not failing and I had to pay that much for shiners. I can get them with a little oatmeal and a throw net right off my dock. I have been a purist artificial fisherman since I was 12 fishing for bullheads up in central Illinois. I am soon going to try this shiner stuff though. Thanks for all the help. If anyone is coming the way and wants to try it let me know..I have a nice boat and live right on Lake Harris where the biggest BASS bas has come out of this year 11.3LBS
  3. RW That should really help thanks.. 2 questions though 1. How do you hook the shiner lips..D-fin or tail and do you set the hook imediately(sp) or let the run for a second???? thanks again ;D
  4. I just moved to the Harris chain in Florida. Are we allowed to talk about shiner fishing here? I have never done it and was wondering if anyone has ever caught any fish this way and would be willing to admit it "S" Tell me how, when and where if you can talk about it. I have never fished live bait, but I am told that is how to get the bigguns ;D
  5. You guys are lucky..my son became a computer geek and would not fish, I guess that was ok cause he now makes a living in computers, but it sure would have been nice to have a fishing buddy.
  6. Sorry Glenn I din not see the same topic earlier...guess I should have read more the write LOL....You can cancel this topic if you want ;D
  7. whar do you guys do if the water temp is in the 70's and there is a steady rainfall. I have been catching on spinnerbait and buzzbait. Go home or fish??? As always thanks and good phishn ;D
  8. My closes is right here on the computer LOL, but really Orlando is about 45 minutes away. I also go to wallyworld quite a bit. The local tackle store love seeing me come in also. Actually had a first the other day, I walked out of the store without spending a cent. The owner said he was going to have to lay a girl off and turn off some lights LMAO
  9. Try getting some confidence for the fisherman...you are beating yourself up...cheer up and try it some night with a spinnerbait
  10. RW. with that formula, I can see where you are so successful, but I still want you to show me where we can get these 6lb average smallies please!!!! pretty PLEASE!!!! LOL
  11. Not being real computer smart, can someone tell me how to use the F-Log on this site. Is it possible you can enlarge someway and enter my info and then save to my documents? thanks as always!! ;D
  12. Wow Marty it's nice to see someone as old as me LOL...those are some of the same lures I started with ;D ;D ;D
  13. I'm finding here in Fl that deep water is 8 foot, some of these lake are lake a bowl with no real deep water structure. Now what do you do??? ;D
  14. This is what make this site so great, people all know what they like and not afraid to say it. I like to start Ihere in Fl) in the canal or where running water comes in the lake. I usually start with a spinner bait or if I get to the water earky enough maybe a buzzbait if the temp is right. Good fishn ;D
  15. I think bait colors is something you will never figure out. For instance, I live on a Fl lake that never clears up, but it is a known fact that if you are fishing plastic here, it better have BLUE in it. No explanation for that...just fact, and other local lake will be similar. ie Claif lake and trout colors...go figur and good luck ;D
  16. Congrats Glenn I know you must and should be proud...It must be a great labor of love, cause I know it can't be much more. Keep up the great work on the next 1000 by the 4th of July ;D :
  17. I was in Missouri for year where bass season on the rivers closed and it was still legal to catch and release. I think is the law reads "possess" then it is ok to catch and release
  18. Luck is when preperation and knowledge meets opportunity....and that's what you call skill :
  19. I live on the Harris chain...I put 6 in the boat yesterday after the storm and the biggest was about 6lbs had another 4 and lost 2...1 around 5 or 6...caught 1 on a scum frog...1on a super fluke,,,and all the rest on a spinnerbait...all were in the pads
  20. the key is "several years ago"
  21. Sorry, but I guided for 25 years for smallies and I'm afraid I don't believe you can catch 12 smallmouth bass any place anytime that will average 6lbs
  22. Funny this should come up today. The other morning I was on my dock talking to a friend who was crappie fishing in the canal and he caught a small crappie and just as he was going to throw it back a hoot owl flew down and landed in the boat and I thought he was going to walk across the water to my dock. Anyway he threw the crappie up on the bank and the owl flew up there and got him. Later that afternoon he was fishing the same place with a friend, having told that story, he catches a small bluegill and said watch this as he threw it on the bank..yep...an owl flew down and got it...could not believe it...I told him he would have him sitting on his shoulder by the morning LOL
  23. I enjoyed the smallies on the Rivers in MO....but now that I am here in the big lakes of Fl it will be the green fish..I guess a bass is a bass whatever color :-X
  24. I used to have a float service on the Gasconade river in Mo and over the years the best smallmouth bait were in order 1 Stanley 3/8oz Spinnerbait in a discontinued color called "crawdad..2 a 4 and 1/2 inch Rattlin Rogue and color was good as long as it was silverLOL..Then a buzzbait third. I think too many people downsize too much when they hear the word "smallmouth" Can't tell you how many 4 inch smallmouth I have caught on a 4 1/2 rogue also how many 3 lber's : 8)
  25. Someone told me that the Tiki Stik is actually made the same place the Senko is made. Is that true????
