For those of you who never caught an eel , heres how to unhook them . Grab hold of it with both hands . It will slip through your hands but thats okay , keep at it . Eventually it will tire out and you will be able to secure it . Then remove the hook and release back in the water . Then take about fifteen minutes to remove a 1/8th inch thick coating of slime from your hands .

The furthest I've actually seen a fishes wake strike a lure is about ten foot .

I have a friend that does that and he catches some big bass . Once I feel I covered the target well, I move on . I did catch one this spring on the fifth cast to the end of a laydown but I saw movement and knew there was one there .

Close to where that x is at . I think there is a spot that holds big bass . I havent found it yet but I'll keep looking . I have caught bass there but nothing big and there are plenty of big bass in this lake .Its kind of weird .It looks like a point but its a big flat under water but there are defined channels

I fish for bass mostly the last three or four years but I use to fish for anything and everything . Had a camper on Mississippi river backwater where I honed my carp fishing skills . I miss that .Done an awful lot of catfishing , crappie , white bass and bluegill . There was even a time when I would take large chubs and fish for gar on the sandbars .

When I go out on the flats for white bass I will usually catch channels and blues too . They will violently hit a yo-yoed Red Eye Shad . I think the reason they slam it so hard is to beat the whites to it .

Yes , I take a depth finder there every time and have fished channel ledges with no results . I still think there is a sweet spot with some large bass living there . It takes a lot of time with a slow electric motor to zigzag back and forth across the channels . I have planned on dedicating a whole day to it just havent done it .

The bass world has gone finesse crazy .I guess it works for them but not so much for me . The way I see it , bass have huge mouths for a reason , to swallow big prey .

There is a section of lake that I know holds a number of bass off shore . Its an elec motor only lake so its hard to spend a lot of time dissecting it . I want to know where that spot is . There are creek channels connecting somewhere out there and I sure would like to find them . Thats my question . Where is this spot ?

I tried 4 inch worms , western weenies , neds... It did not result in better fishing . I've come to the conclusion that bigger baits work better at least for me . Even when fishing clear water the dinky lures have not performed like normal sized ones . Six inch Texas rigged Jelly worms really whack them . Thats about as finesse as I go .

Read and watch videos about jigs and Texas rigs or find someone who knows what they are doing and have them instruct you .

When I was younger in my twenties, I almost had a boating accident and it was totally my fault .Got distracted for a few seconds and events in front of me changed .

Pitching would be difficult . If you havent learned the sidearm roll cast then start and make sure the lures are heavy enough to do it effortlessly . So many people now days use the lightest lures possible but those can be difficult to cast accurately with ease . The reason largemouth bass have such largemouths is so so they can eat large prey .

I have caught a lot of channel cats on bass lures , so a chunk of bait moved slowly along the bottom will work . One day I anchored above a dike on the Mississippi river and cast out a shallow diving Manns Razorback pig .I got it right over the dike and held it still , allowing the current do the work . It just sat there and wiggled in place right on top of the rocks.I caught two nice channel cats on it .

If it requires a spinning rod then its finesse .?

You can move the bait like you said , Ive done it before but its usually better to leave it set . I like the hook on bottom . But yeah, I use to let the wind blow my boat across flats while dragging a Caorlina rig baited with shad until I caught a catfish . When the fish hooked up I'd quickly toss a buoy to mark the spot then anchor there and tight line .

I named a knot after me , the Dane . We were having knot class at work and I doubled the rope and tied a boline . It made three loops . I thought "this could be used as a rescue knot" . Then watching the movie Hacksaw Ridge Doss did the same thing and he used that knot to save numerous lives . So , I cant call it the Dane anymore . Its the Doss .

This tropical storm that is suppose to drop a ton of rain , I hope they wont have to cancel the tourney again .

I had this same question in the bait makers forum .According to Smalljaw , who is a spinnerbait guru, wider spacing makes the bait more stable for burning , closer gives more vibration .

So yesterday I hung a crankbait in a brushpile about 8 foot deep . As I was jiggling the lure , hoping it would come free a two pound bass hammers it . I mean it hit so hard the rod bowed over . The bait was a flat-sided Strike King, no rattles .

Hootie is who I was thinking of .

I like Dingers on a Texas rig but I dont care for the slit . The hook point always seems to be barely protuding and getting snagged up .I'm thinking about rigging them sideways . Anybody try that ? Dont see why it wouldnt work just fine .
