  1. ...and that is how its done .
  2. I have to second this
  3. I remember the Kangaroo lures . Didnt they have a pocket molded into them ? I might still have a couple worms but no grubs.
  4. Buzzbait if I can get away with it . Stanley Ribbet if the algae is thick . I'll work on those deep water bass later , early in the morning I'm giving a top water a shot .
  5. .After catching a bass large enough to merit a photo I put a fish grip on its lip , attach grip to a stringer then place it over the side of the boat . Then I set my camera up on a tripod and set the timer for ten seconds . Retrieve the fish , hold it up and get the photo .
  6. One with a mild disposition .
  7. The problem is whenever I disassemble a reel I cant piece it back together .
  8. I wouldnt just take a jig . I'm out to catch fish not play around . I may use a lure a little every trip but not ruin my fishing outing because of stubborness .
  9. Not me . I have yet to catch a bass on a chatterbait .
  10. One of the largest bass I ever caught came below a bunch of carp sucking on top . I tied on a Long A minnow and ripped it through the carp, hoping to snag one . Big ole bass hit it .
  11. Yeah , those goofy carp .I've been fishing with a couple of fellows who thought they were bass jumping . I couldn't convince them otherwise .
  12. Lots of things I havent caught bass on , only because I dont use them .
  13. Only one backlash in two years?
  14. You have to learn to recognize the bite then set the hook . They should not swallow it if the hook set is made in a timely matter . I never haver bass swallow those lures .
  15. One of my favorite lures .
  16. In my 20's I whittled out a worm and made a 2 section plaster of paris mold . Melted my saved worms then poured . The worms were wide and flat kind of fluke shaped with a thick hook tail . The problem I had was there was always an air bubble in the nose . I still have that mold and if I could figure out how to stop the air bubble from forming , I'd pour some more . They worked but all worms work . I think they would go through the chara algae as a top water well .
  17. My dad was a very simple fisherman . He had zebco 202's and the cheapest rods made . Started me off with a cane pole before graduating me to a 202 .Most of the time the junk reels wouldnt cast so a dunk in the water made it a little smoother .So I grew up catching bluegills , bullheads and such .It was pretty easy fishing , not complicated at all which I guess helped me enjoy it . At age 12 I got a spinning combo for my birthday . A Shakespeare Wonder Rod and reel .Finally , I could cast . I still have the rod .
  18. I know a brush pile that is almost impossible to drag a texas rig or jig through because on all the monofilament broken off by crappie anglers . Its still worth fishing but I will get hung before finished with it .
  19. Now first Texas rig fish I caught was on a black Mister Twister twin tail grub . I put a black spinnerbait skirt between the sinker and worm trying to duplicate a jig that another angler was using . He was catching them on a jig and pork frog . I didnt have either so I duplicated it the best I could . After that it was game on .
  20. My dad and one of his brothers didnt like bass until I fried some up . I have a niece who doesnt like fish but she gobbled those bass fillets down .They are not as tasty as walleye , crappie or bluegill but they are close . I Like them better than catfish .
  21. You used live night crawlers Texas rigged ? How did that work out ?
  22. If I'm fishing a certain lure and nothing is happening then its time to do something different . If I'm getting bass that are face hooked , barely hooked, just nipping or slashing at the bait , then I'll try to dial it in with changes to get the bass to hit better . Often a color change is all that is needed .
  23. This was no little cat fish , well over 5 lbs .So if a big fish scared it , that would be a "big " fish .
  24. Might not be the coolest thing I ever seen while fishing but yesterday I saw a large channel catfish come completely out of the water and on bank thrashing around , then flopped back in . First time in my life I seen that and dont know why it did it . Was it after something to eat on bank , chasing shad , dropping eggs? I just dont know .
  25. I wish all manufacturers would make rattleless versions . The hooks make enough noise most of the time .
