  1. Buzzbaits are my favorite bait to throw . Stanley Ribbets have taken over for buzzbaits on some waters I fish that are infested with algae .Minnow baits like the Bomber Long A are really good post spawn .
  2. Some days fish will hit top waters with a high bright sun , other days not . I have a hard time fishing on the brutally hot summer days but when I was younger, a chugger fished in main lake standing timber on those days , was a steady pattern .
  3. Problem with my local lake is I rarely catch bass below the slot . Lots of bass in the slot and I limit out more times than not on bass over the slot .So once or twice a year I keep a limit of fifteen inchers .
  4. I woudnt want a guide . A cabin rental with a boat slip for several days would be more my style .
  5. Also , can you identify the vegetation ? If not , get a picture of it .
  6. The most important part for me is having enough weight to make easy pitches .. I like the Yum Dingers a lot and it pairs well with a 1/4 ounce weight . If I want a slower fall , a longer plastic worm with the quarter ounce weight ,like an 8 inch jelly worm . If I go with a skinny 6 inch worm then I need a heavier weight and I'll get a faster fall . Sometimes that fast fall works best . But if I use too light a weight , I cant pitch well at all . Other people may be able to go lighter than I .
  7. In June the Lake Eufala event is scheduled .My preliminary picks are . A Jake Whitaker Fairview, NC - B Brandon Lester Fayetteville, TN - C Gerald Swindle Warrior, AL - D Skylar Hamilton Dandridge, TN - E Tyler Rivet Raceland, LA -
  8. I picked up trash bags full at my subdivision pond, made it a daily routine. Confronted a couple of fellows who didnt belong there about the trash they have been leaving . Days later I had a brick thrown through my window . Dont know who did it but connecting the dots the picture looks like those two fellows .
  9. I have never kept a smallmouth . It takes too long to grow them to a decent size in the local streams . Largemouths I selectively harvest . Two years ago I got into a heated argument with another angler for keeping a limit of fifteen inchers . It got ugly .
  10. I dont bed fish because the water is to muddy to see them . Undoubtedly , I have caught many , many bass off of beds and not even know it .
  11. A lake I fish , 14 foot john boats are supplied by the conservation dept " for free". I usually have to clean the trash out of one before using it . Can you imagine being such a scum-bag , that a boat is supplied to you for free and when you're finished , just leave your beer cans , cigarette butts , fishing line....in it .That just befuddles me . Heck , I even drag the boat on shore and pull the plug so rain water doesnt collect , just to make it convenient for the next guy or gal .
  12. The rampant littering gets to me . The keeping of bass depends on the fishery . Some places I will keep some , other places never .
  13. To further complicate matters , according to this chart, the order in which light waves get absorbed under water has a lot to do with turbidity . In this chart, the short light waves "blue" is the first to be absorbed in muddy water . The article https://www.fatguppyfishing.com/single-post/2016/1/7/Selecting-Lure-Colors-for-Successful-Fishing
  14. That little floating Original Rapalas might be good this time of year , if the water is halfway clear . Just cast next to any object bass might be hiding next to and let it set . Don't move it until all the rings disappear and then give it a slight twitch .This really riles them up at times .

Exactly what I was thinking .
  16. My numbers are not exact but close .
  17. Yes , I have used spinnerbaits more early on . Thats because they have been working and where I have found the bass . As the year goes on , other lures will start adding to the numbers . Crankbaits are just starting to pick up as bass move out on the points . Spinnerbaits are slowing down . Texas rigs will be steady . Toads will pick up because of the influx of chara algae . Then this autumn , spinnerbaits should get hot again . If I fished other waters like the clear Ozark lakes , there would be different results .
  18. oops , wrong thread .
  19. I choose lures that are appropriate for the cover ,structure and conditions I find. All lures work . Soft swimbaits work well in a lot of the places I encounter so I should employ them more often . They just havent been as big a part of my arsenal as they should be . I'm stuck on lures that worked in the past and get tunnel vision .
  20. All I know is I catch bass on blue . Blue light waves are short light waves which activate certain cones in our eyes that the brain interprets as the color blue .Youtube it "Color Only Exists In Your Brain!" . Bass have cones too but that does not mean they interpret short light waves the same as we do .
  21. For the first time in my life I've been trying to keep a running tally of bass caught , what lure and date caught . I'm not getting too technical with temps , clarity and so on .So far in six outings , these are the approximate numbers . Its been a spinnerbait spring but the other lures are starting to pick up . Just thought it was interesting how much spinnerbaits have dominated early on . 153 bass caught . 107 on spinnerbaits 18 on toads 18 on crankbaits 10 on texas rig .
  22. For a month and a half now , in a lake I've been fishing for largemouths , morning surface temps has been in the low to mid 50's . Afternoon temps have been in the high 50's to mid 60's .For the first three trips the bite changed in the afternoons . Sometimes the fish move from outside of points and coves , to inside pockets or vice versa . Even though the temps have been in the 50's every morning , I think the bass here spawned three weeks ago . The ones I'm catching appear spawned out and they have shifted to post spawn patterns. Its been a weird spring , but the bass are biting as long as one is willing to make appropriate changes . Sometimes those changes come hourly . So it seems bass take advantage of sudden temperature spikes , become more active , feed heavily and will drop their eggs even though it still getting quite cold at night .
  23. Neither one is what I'm thinking about but may be what the OP is referring to . Found what I was looking for . Is this it ? Lazy Ike Wiggly Jig Crawler .
  24. The lure I'm thinking of looks like a metal crankbait lip molded on a jig . Designed to add a plastic worm too . May have been made by Creme ,
  25. I remember and use to have one . I cant recall the name either .
