  1. I always thought of it as going down the bank and fishing anything and everything that comes along . Whereas pattern fishing is focusing on certain cover , structure or somethinhg .
  2. My dad gave me a box of these . I never used the bigger bass size ones but have used the smaller panfish size ones along bluffs . They work just like advertised and go backwards . Caught a lot of fish on the bluffs as the lure went back into it . Green sunfish , crappie and small bass .
  3. The first time I ever heard the term was in Bassmaster magazine during the 80's . It was about Guy Eaker and he was a good 'Junk" fisherman . My wording is confusing . It was meant fishing from a boat but following the bank and fishing whatever cover you come across . I fish elec motor lake only lakes and fish my way from spot to spot .
  4. Never done that . I always crimp the rivet in place.
  5. Your first visit to a 100 acre lake , elec motor only and have taken five rod and reel combos . You decide to just go junk fishing around the banks . You notice a rip rap dam , fallen trees and lily pads . What are the first five lures you tie on ? The weather conditions are , look out your window .This time of year . Water normal and stained .
  6. Anymore I make pour my own but any brand works . I'm not too picky with spinnerbaits .
  7. I'm trying to use up my existing supply of soft plastics, it will never get done . I have a couple hundred 8 inch blueberry jelly worms which is another oldie that catches bass . That translucent Manns blue is a producer that just doesnt get used these days .
  8. I dont buy many new baits anymore because what do I then do with the old ones that have proven to be real fish catchers . Jelly Worms still catch them but I dont think they are even being made anymore . The 6 inch ones are not even on the Manns web site . I still use my last Rogers Big Jim square bill . Rebel Deep Wee R's , Rapala Fat Raps , Storm Wiggle Warts , Bomber Long A Minnows , Bomber Model A's , Original Lunker Lure . There are times when a new bait comes along that I see a need for . The Berkely Dredgers are depth hogs for their size . The Red Eye Shad wiggles on the fall . If there is a niche to be filled then I may try it otherwise the old lures just keep on catching them . Well for me they just dont go through wood like spinnerbaits . So far this year I have caught 44 bass , every one on a spinnerbait . I tried a chatterbait for a few cast and the first limb I tried to go over , it flipped and snagged . I just havent found a niche for it .
  9. I have a twin arm , dont know the manufacturer and have never used it . Its in my spinnerbait box . It just never occurs to me to tie it on .

Thats right , the lizards I have are the old style Squimin Lizard .
  11. I think the original Lunker Lure is as good as any . Now days I pour my own . I almost always use a trailer hook and I have pretty much quit using skirts and go with a soft plastic swim bait . The swimbait cast better and retrieves slower.
  12. I pretty much use the same lures . I dont want to lose expensive lures due to snags so weedless soft plastics and buzzbaits get a lot of playing time .
  13. I did give mine away . The Force Motor needed work and there was major damage to the wooden stringers .I took the trolling motor and depth finder off first .

Are you talking about the smooth , six inch , skinny ones . I still have a bunch of those .
  15. I've only found a couple of packs of these in my life but a bright lime green has been fantastic for me . Both times I had them , they lasted just a few hours . One brand was the Fliptail worm and the other time was a generic worm . Mr Twister and Bass Pro use to make a chartreuse worm with a black core that looked a lot like them and they worked great too .

I use to throw them more than worms . When I was fishing tourneys a six inch lizard seemed to draw more strikes from those 15 to 18 inch fish I was after . They probably didnt catch keepers any better than worms but in my mind they did . I still use them . I use the same colors with worms , lizards , craws .... Zoom lizards in purples and browns are my primary colors . How I make a selection on what to throw ,? its usually just whatever I feel like . If I want a slower rate of fall , I'll tie one on in lieu of a worm and use the same weight .
  17. I went bass fishing by myself . Its my time to unwind . I took Dad out for catfish, crappie and white bass . When he could no longer do that , we sat on the bank and caught whatever would bite .
  18. Fishing is my time . I pick the most comfortable days and on waters that should be producing . I'm out to relax and catch fish .
  19. All time favorite is purple in all its various forms . Black grape , electric blue , june bug , tequila sunrise...
  20. I couldnt take my Dad bass fishing . He just wasnt cut out for it .So instead I took him catfishing or white bass fishing .He could do that .
  21. Smoked some ribs and a butt yesterday . I'm already tired of smoked pork .
  22. Well you do have to use the proper angles .
  23. The best hook sharpener I have used is the diamond file thats on a lot of Leatherman multi tools . Push the point on the file with light stokes . I sharpen hooks quite a bit . If they slide across my thumb nail they get touched up .
  24. Does anybody use these lures anymore? I have one of each and have never used them . I made a couple of cast with the Rogue but thats it . I weighted them to suspend . When would one use a suspending spoonbill and what depth would they be effective ?
  25. It happens all the time . Rope is the worse . As soon as I figure out its a snag , it starts pulling back and now I'm not sure .Especially rope in current .
