  1. Who else at one time used them with 5'6" mh or hvy action pistol grip rods ? Reel up the slack and cross their eyes , Harry and Charlie style.
  2. A lot of those other rigs are open water or light line tactics , thats not my style . The Texas rig begs to be thrown in the nastiest of brush . I'll toy with some of the others now and then but the Texas rig gets used way more than the rest combined .
  3. I have received a Billy Bass , a trailer ball bass and a couple of Flying Lure kits .
  4. I would trim that little tail part off too and Texas rig them with an offset hook . I also like that color . Some crawdads have bright orange pincers .I have never used that particular lure but its a good looking bait .
  5. I have caught hundreds of bass on a Texas rigged thin and long crawdad . The Larew Salt Craw and the Wal Mart brand Renegade craw to name a couple .
  6. Texas rigs . Thin and long , I dont understand why you dont think that would make a good Texas rig .
  7. That lower lake has an odd formation . Like Wrb said there is a saddle between the north and south point with deep holes on both sides . Look between the two deep holes , they should be easy to Identify . There is a saddle shaped ridge .
  8. I just started using them last fall , after losing a large bass . Another angler told me tungsten catches more because it doesnt blow their mouth open like a large lead weight . I dont believe that but decided to try them . I have noticed they are more sensitive .
  9. checked my trail cam today and captured my first bobcat .
  10. I'm listening to Black Sabbath so the name "Sabotage" comes to mind .

I've been getting some followers this year. Caught several short striking at the boat . Missed several too .
  13. I never feel the need to let a bass run with the lure . As soon as a bite is detected , I set the hook . Rarely have I gut hook a bass with a soft plastic . Cant remember the last time I have . Now I jinxed myself . Bass frequently choke down a crankbait . however .
  14. Different manufacturers have their own version of colors , so your Bomber could very well been called Smokey Joe . . I dont know if the Spot still comes in Smokey Joe or not .
  15. The rod is a 7 foot MH Lady Guide series from Gander Mountain with about three inches hacked off the handle , so now its about 6'9".The reel is a Quantum Kinetic PT spooled with 17 lb Trilene XL clear blue fluorescent . I traded for the reel and picked up the rod on clearance for twenty dollars .They are matching colors , purple .
  16. It was a grey body black back , looked like a shad .
  17. In the 70'S it was called the Cotton Cordell Hot Spot . Smoky Joe was "the" color for me .
  18. This . It takes a second or two.
  19. I dont even think about it unless its something with a strong chemical smell like DEET or gasoline .
  20. For swimming I like shad colors , for bottom bouncing I prefer darker colors like brown/chartreuse and purple,
  21. Doesnt seem like a good idea for me . My hookup percentage with big fat toads is horrible ..
  22. Water temps low 50's here and bass good on spinnerbaits .
