Bomber Long A Minnow until the buzzbait bite picks up .
  2. There are just so many things to try and thats what you should do . Fish steep banks , flat banks , points , humps , grass , lay-downs... with lures that fish those areas well . if you watch pros practice fishing on YouTube thats what they do . Eliminate water and try to make good decisions . On the Bassmaster magazine articles " A day on the lake" they just go fishing and usually end up catching fish a different way then they started . As far as catching that crappie , I would just ignore it . Bass and crappie sometimes use the same spot , cover...or pull out the crappie rod .
  3. The first few names I tried were taken and Scar Face was on TV .
  4. I bury it most of the time .
  5. Combs has placed in the money 64 out of 80 tourneys . That means he can catch then anywhere . Heres how my luck goes . I picked him in the first two events and he wasnt even close . This time he will probably win it , being I didnt choose him for a third straight event .
  6. Yeah , I cant get satisfactory results with it . I'm just going to toss it .
  7. I cant answer that . Some days are good some bad . I start down stream ,make a couple of cast , then move a few steps upstream .
  8. I needed something cheap because I lose a lot of them and something to get the fishes attention . It kills on rip rap with heavy current .
  9. I drove over Mark Twain two days ago and it looked good . The muddy water is going to be rushing in now . Looks like the start of another flooded spring .Sometimes Twain stays high and muddy for months . Makes for some good summer fishing .
  10. I just use a piece of plastic from a margarine lid punched out with a hole punch . I put it about half way. It doesnt stay put , I just adjust it now and then .It doesnt interfere with the hook-set . I toss it upstream and try to keep it just over the rocks . I reel it slightly faster than the current .The only time I use it is in fast current . I reel it steady and try not to let it sink in those rocks . It should work fine . Largemouths , smallmouths , white bass , hybrid bass , walleye , crappie , channel cat and drum , I have never caught a gar or common carp on it . I have snagged some of those asian carp with it .

If Busch Light doesnt work then any bass I catch is out of luck .
  12. I would buy a buzzbait 5 dollars some hooks , bullet weights and 7 to 8 inch curl tail worms for the rest .
  13. I was given two jars of powder coat paint . One jar is fine but the other is clumpy and does an unsatisfactorily job . Should I just throw it away or is there a way to unclump it . I can squeeze the clumps into powder but dont know if its worth the effort or if it would even work if I did get all the clumps out . The brand is Netcraft .
  14. Brand doesnt matter to me . I'm at the point where I wont buy a new lure unless I see it filling a niche .
  15. Tom Mann is the only celebrity fisherman I ever met . He Emceed a tourney I was in and won . Bad part is I am an avid Jelly Worm user but that tourney I used a lizard from another manufacturer .I should have used the Jelly worm . He might have rewarded me with a bunch .
  16. Why is a fluke the only lure you are considering on a rip-rap bank below a dam with heavy current ?
  17. A Marabou jig is a good cold water lure but they are not popular anymore and hard to find with bass sized hooks .
  18. Sure . In hast current the lure needs to be noticed .
  19. Try slack water and current . I catch more fish and species in the current , the stronger the better . The fish will find a current break in the rocks and wait for something to come down stream , which is why I prefer spinners . They feel it and the strikes are usually hard . One of my favorites is something I rig up before hand . They are cheap to make and catch numbers of everything . I'll have a dozen or so ready to go . If my mind was made up to use a fluke I would go with a paddle-tail in the current .
  20. If youre going shallow to deep , find a manufacturer with a varied lineup and pick one of each . Strike King , Berkely . Rapala ... Crankbaits only work when fished at the depth bass are at . For instance the Dredger series would handle 5 foot to over 20 .
  21. When I fish a popper its usually big . We use to call them chuggers . I like windy rough water and make as much noise with it as possible . Sharp , short jerks of the rod tip that spits water 6 foot or more . The noisiest one I have used is an old Pico Pop . I still have one that gets playing time . My other one is a vintage Rebel which is about twice the size of a standard Pop R . Check around resale shops , there were lots of them made . Heddon was a big manufacturer of chuggers .
  22. I fish a dam with rip rap banks and lots of current . Baits are going to be lost . I like to hit it when the water is low and go lure hunting . I usually use inexpensive spinners like Strike King mini Spins , Road Runners... Cast upstream close to the bank and bring it down .
  23. Berkely Strike and Real Craw . I'm out of both .
