  1. The last warm spell a year ago , mid November , I caught a limit of 15 inch keepers .It took me several hours to get the first bite but after that I got dialed in and the fishing was great .
  2. We all know how well a dog can use its nose . A bat can use its ears , echo location . Fish can feel their surroundings .
  3. All these baits mentioned work well all summer too . You may find the bass a little more aggressive some days or may not but they still bite the same baits .
  4. I have a tattoo of being skunked. Nothing .
  5. Bomber Model A crankbaits .
  6. The largest 6 fish limit I ever caught was on one of these . Bomber Prop A . Also the largest on back to back cast .
  7. The main difference between summer and fall for me is I will fish the extreme shallow back ends of creeks, coves and pockets , places I usually avoid in the summer. I still use the same spinnerbaits , buzzbaits , crankbaits , worms and jigs . I will try a point or two first and if the fish are not there then I go to the banks and cover water .
  8. In the fall I catch bass deep on points with crankbaits and worms. The same points and lures I use in summer . I also catch bass in shallow cover in coves and creeks .The same places I catch them in summer and on the exact same lures .
  9. Hard telling . Maybe crankbaits and texas rigs .
  10. Yes , thats it .
  11. I have no idea but good luck . I would go with a heavier baitcast rod and reel and make sure I get a good hook set .
  12. High winds ,fishing from the bank. Go to the windiest side . The wave action dislodges food that attracts bait fish that attracts bass . Use whatever bait you think can be fished effectively . I was camping one weekend and there were forty mile sustained winds , to windy to launch . I had a fantastic day fishing a windy shore from bank with a sassy Shad on a jig head . Caught largemouths , white bass , crappie , walleye , channel cats and a big flathead by simply parallel casting banks using a steady retrieve .
  13. I down size blades and go with a duller color , both right off the bat .
  14. A little off topic but I thought of this before . I assume a person could take a foam earplug or two , thread a line through it and it should float a worm to make your own floating snakes .
  15. I have two of the old Doug Hannon floating snake heads . They are made out of soft plastic or foam .Just thread it on your line like a bullet weight and then Texas rig any worm you want . I dont know how good they work , I have never tried one .
  16. Sorry but I cant ever recall getting skunked this time of year under good conditions when putting hours on the water . It could be lost in my memory but it would still be rare . Thats what the OP asked . Now, I've been skunked plenty of times late and early in the year , or under adverse conditions . My home lake is subject to extreme flooding at any time , I've completely blanked bunches of times in those conditions .
  17. I generally use chartreuse and white early in the year , black at night and some sort of natural looking baitfish imitator the rest of the time .
  18. A separate bag . I've used those inexpensive cloth bags from groceries stores .
  19. You did a heck of a lot better than me . My first was with an Ambassadeur 5000 on a 5.5 foot fiberglass Lews Speed Stick .
  20. First , I never use braid . I have colored mono with marker before in two inch segments with a black marker , just to break up the outline . Once I watched a 15 inch bass under a dock in clear water . I tried numerous times to get him to hit a plastic crawfish but it showed no interest . I then cammo'd my line with a black marker in two inch strips , flipped it in front of the fish and caught it .
  21. So you go fishing for 8 hours in a good lake during good conditions and not even catch one bass ? Not one ?
  22. You know your old when you have a box full of lake maps .
