  1. How deep ? I have different favorites for different depths .
  2. I remember very early in his career the buzz was how consistently he finished in the money . He hasnt slowed down .
  3. Maybe split the tourney in half . Half fish saturday and half fish sunday .
  4. Next theres going to be a thread "Has this ever happened to you? " about catching a rod and reel with a fish on it . I had a channel cat yank my rod in the water . I just set it down for a few seconds to do something and off it went .I dove in head first and got it .
  5. I have a box for lures that dont work . Isnt it funny how some lures are really good and others junk . I have two Rattlin Thin Fins that are night and day different .
  6. Small bait vs big bait ? I just try too make good decisions based on the conditions. Could be small or big but mostly medium .

I would fish it but would never follow anybody . I like to find my own fish . To me thats the whole sport . If I see a pro I would probably give way to him but would like to have a brief conversation . Now the wanna b pros wearing their jerseys and fishing bent rod patterns , I'll give them no leeway .
  8. I'm a worm guy but I'll tell you that I have caught most of my tourney fish on Texas rigged lizards .
  9. I had three anglers in the bottom twenty .
  10. Boiling Plastic worms will make them softer .I have done it .
  11. Texas and Carolina .
  12. This is the answer to most questions about bass fishing lures .
  13. The biggest bass I have caught the last few years was on a buzzbait during a light drizzle . Love top waters during a summer rain .
  14. Bass anglers run into the same scenario all the time . Unless the bass are feeding heavily on them at the surface , which it doesnt sound like they were , I would keep an eye on them but try to locate some nearby cover or structure . I wouldnt chase after them but if one bust surface within casting distance I'd fire a lure that way .
  15. Hall of Famers still produced that I use . Norman Deep Little N and Bomber model A .
  16. I've been wanting one of these since I was a kid .Traded for it . Nylon 66 ,, cherry .
  17. The reason I use them is because it is what the local tackle shop sold . They are hand poured . I bought them on cards by the dozen and still have quite a few left .
  18. How do you guys feel about jigs with the one piece " Y " weedguards ? Those are the ones I use the most on an Arkie head .
  19. Correct . If theres a 15 foot thermocline in 100 foot of water , then you can eliminate 85 percent of the water column . The thermocline may not be the magic zone , it can be anywhere in that 15 foot range .
  20. Like others have stated , eliminate water below the thermocline . . Next thing I look for is the zone where most of the fish are located . It could be right at the thermocline or shallower . Even though the thermolcline is at 15 foot , for example , the sonar may show most of the fish activity at 8 foot , which was the case on a lake I went to last week . That is the depth I caught most of the fish at that day . Why the fish were at 8 foot I can only speculate . I'm guessing it was a comfort zone , perhaps the most O2 rich area of the water column .
  21. Trilene knot is a lot simpler to tie if you put your index finger in the second loop created .
  22. I was fishing at Bull Shoals and there was a storm in some far away hills . I wasnt too frightened by it . I was using a tube on a quarter ounce jighead . I made a cast and my line would not lay on the water . The lure was in the water but the line was trying to stand straight up in the air . I connected the dots rather fast and got off the water .
  23. At one time a lot of top waters were white with a red front , so they are good fish catchers , I just havent done well with them . Its probably just a confidence thing
