  1. Bullet sinkers clanging off the side of my boat alerts bass . My cousin slamming his tackle box lid on the floor alerts bass . The backwash from my trolling motor prop alerts bass . A bass thrashing around on the bottom of the boat alerts bass . So is it unreasonable that sonar sounds might effect bass too ?
  2. I would use stink bait .
  3. I have caught suspended bass that are relating to points .First I find the fish and bait with a depthfinder that are close to the point . Cast a crankbait that dives at that depth onto the point . It digs into the bottom until it reaches its maximum depth , leaves the point and thats when it gets hit . Its the only way I ever caught them .
  4. I agree but I picked up a purple rod from DSG from the Lady Guide series ,that has found its way in the four rods I carry for fishing from a small jon boat . It is my prettiest rod .
  5. This is my favorite lipless bait . The silent model that ticks like a one knocker .
  6. Name a few . I might be able to help you out .
  7. When I here the word pond , I'm thinking small . If its small with lots of pressure and you think theres a few big fish in it then I would try after dark , when the fish are less leery . Just approach it like you would during the day . Dont forget your buzzbaits .
  8. When its hot I throw a lot of crankbaits and a lot of soft plastics . Buzzbaits early , late and on cloudy days .
  9. Good timing . The last two days I was fishing a lot of shore-line cover .I usually make short cast then pitch for pin-point accuracy .I'm suffering from tendinitis in the elbow and could not pitch . I've said it before , my biggest weakness in bass fishing is side-arm casting accuracy . Man , I'm bad at it . I went to a larger worm , smaller weight so my splash-downs would be more natural sounding , less alarming .A lot of times it would land right on top of the bass and they would nail it . I learned a little in those two days and will be using the larger worms lighter weights more often .
  10. A 3/8th ounce will cast further dig deeper . I dont know what my crankbaits weigh . None of them .
  11. There you go . I'm going to make one with a hollow body frog .
  12. I just thought of something . A buzzbait blade could easily be added to a straight piece of wire too make squealing frog buzzbaits ..
  13. I use basically four lures at night . 1 Buzzbait . I like my home made ones and Lunker Lures but any will work . I like unpainted blades and black skirts . I crimp the rivets to make them squeal . I usually use a trailer hook . 2 Spinnerbait . I love the Strike King Midnight special in black . They have rattles and the fish really home in on them . I usually add a trailer hook . 3 Plastic worm . 9 inch jelly Worms in any color are my favorite . Black grape is one I use in any condition . Caught a lot of fish on blue and red too . I dont think color matters all that much . 4 Crankbaits . A lot of people dont like trebels at night but i'm to stupid to know better . Rapala Crankin Raps and Wiggle Warts work good at night but I think almost any bait will work as long as it is going the proper depth . Good places to go are shallow flats and riprap dams/banks because they are easy to cast at when you cant see . LOL . Plus the fish are often active on them .
  14. You're going to teach kids how to use a baitcaster ,? I recommend buying the cheapest spool of bulk mono-filament available .
  15. Wait , heres the most annoying thing . Tendonitis in your pitching elbow . I cant pitch at all , it hurts like mad .I had to resort to casting in tight spots . Man , I need some casting lessons . LOL
  16. I had an A-2000 for awhile but gave it to my brother who was a much better ball player than me . He needed a good glove . All he did was play ball , I fished to much .
  17. Heres one I do all the time . I'm worming a nice brush pile/lay down log from a jon-boat , set the hook and no one is home . The bullet sinker clangs off the boat . Bass will not be biting on that one for awhile .
  18. Eliminating water and finding bass is what every angler strives to do . Its a challenge that makes the sport fun . Some days they will be on the steeper banks with a channel nearby and other days the opposite side . I really like Scott Martins You-Tube videos when he is pre-fishing for tournaments . I recommend watching those . The fact about points is they are obvious and everyone pounds them . I spent the last two afternoons casting to shallow shoreline cover in major coves when I should be out fishing deep . Results , I caught about thirty bass both days and with solid limits of fifteen inch minimum .
  19. It might on heavily pressured bass . A lot of Bass pros seem to think so . They need a new technology that has the sonar beams sounding like feeding fish .
  20. Famous lures I still use often . Jelly Worms , Wiggle Warts , Deep Wee R's , Lunker Lures . Flavor of the month , Berkely Dredger .
  21. I have one . Too pretty to use .
  22. I do have a Royals hat . and Pirates , Rockies , Orioles , Indians and my favorite Richmond Flying Squirrels . I love baseball almost as much as bass fishing .
  23. I bought the Fish Grip a few weeks back and use it a lot .
  24. I havent caught a big bass all year . This one was almost decent . I went old school . 8 inch blue Jelly Worm .
  25. Watch the fishing reports and do the opposite .
