  2. If you want the best in feel hold the rod in front of the reel and run the line through your index finger and thumb . If you feel a tic while the lure is sinking , thats a fish. This is not a good technique if your using braid because braid will slice you if you dont let go .
  3. Well , if were counting sunfish.
  4. I just bought the 7'2'' Dropshot Pro Advantage spinning rod at Wal Mart for *** dollars . I rarely use spinning gear , maybe I'll give dropshotting a try . Problem is I never been on the lake and said to myself " maybe a reverse carolina rig would work ".
  5. To achieve the semi tight line , when the lure is sinking drop the rod tip at the same speed .
  6. Every last one of us has missed lots of strikes . I've set the hook multiple times with the fish swimming toward me and still come up empty . LOL. Often the fish has the lure and there is no indication. Its hard to explain but I weigh the line without putting pressure on the fish . If it feels weird I set the hook .

When an angler ask spectators to move out of the way because he wants to fish that direction then they are interfering . That happened live .
  8. i've had it happen more than once . You remember those days and it can sure seem like bad luck . There are some good places that I expect to catch a bass first cast and if it happens , its going to be a great day .
  9. My first tourney did me in for the long run , 567 points . I just picked my all time favorites. Since then I've done much better . I even opted for Ike whom I cant stand .
  10. Nine dollars is outrageous for a Trap .
  11. I had three top tens and still got beat by most of you . You guys know your pros .
  12. I mostly use lipless baits off-shore in deeper water . The RES drops well . It does what a trap cant .

What are the fishing hours . Live coverage ends at 2:30 .I've been searching for two days .
  14. Theres a real good little lake just north of you by Moberly , Sugar Creek . I use to fish it a bit . Never caught any big fish but lots of three lbers .
  15. A lot of people are new to boating / fishing some people are just rude .I'm sure I made some people upset when I first started out . One day in particular I was catching bass on a shallow rock hump that is "plainly" marked with buoys . Here comes a bass boat on plane straight for it . I'm standing in the bow waving my arms trying to get his attention so he doesnt tear his transom off . He stops at the last possible moment creating a huge wake and idles on top of the hump , precisely where I am casting , then shuts his motor off . He then looks at me and ask what I wanted . When I tell him about the rocks he said " I know , I hit it yesterday. I just want to see what is here . " LOL. Either he was new to boating/fishing or a moron .
  16. Welcome .You are right about lots of places to fish . The MDC has lots of well managed small lakes everywhere and often times boats to rent . I take advantage of it .Lots of streams and of course the Mississippi . What part of Missouri are you in ? I use the same rods for jigging that I do Texas rigs . The hooksets should be the same . I use med hvy action rods for T-rigs and jigs . Med action rods for most other lures .
  17. I dont carry a Carolina specific rod . I just use a 6'6'' to 7' wormin rod . It needs to be able handle a 3/4 ounce weight .
  18. I havent experienced it but mostly I use them off-shore on the bottom .

    Especially on a 20,000 acre lake .
  20. You have to pay to be a marshal ?

What is the mind-set of people who follow the pros around? I would never do that .
  22. You can buy inexpensive battery operated temperature probes . I use to have one and used quite a bit . Mine was a temp/light meter . I was surprised to see zero light in ten foot of muddy spring-time water . Also, in the summer the light and temp would slowly change until it hit the thermocline then the changes were drastic . I bought mine at Bass Pro . I recommend one . I need to get another . I just looked for one with no luck . Maybe they are no longer made .
  23. I snorkeled a clear Ozark stream several years back . I would tap a fingernail against my watch and the bass would come have a look . This happened repeatedly up and down the stream . I would also tap rocks together and get the same results . What does it mean ? Who knows . My silent Red Eye Shad that makes a similar tapping sound is a killer bait . A-Jay reports the same thing .
  24. Tell you guys what . I was hesitant about getting into fantasy fishing , thinking it was silly but its a blast . I have to go to work but I want to spend the day watching the tourney and rooting for my team .
