  2. I'll tell you where I dont use red . Thats a red fire tail worm . Those dang sunfish will peck the heck out of it .
  3. I have 1 angler who has the lowest percentage picked in his bracket , another second lowest, one second highest and two the highest .
  4. Chartreuse works well in both .
  5. Can you imagine having both barbs stuck in your hand ? LOL
  6. Lew's Sticker hook . I had some but dont remember if I liked them or not . I think i still have a couple .
  7. Awesome photo .
  8. Its really weird for me but I have trouble catching deep bass in early spring . My best luck has been fishing shallow on sunny banks in the afternoons . A lot of different baits have caught fish but they have to be fished real slow . I like deep diving crankbaits tossed against steep banks . I 'll position the boat in about ten foot of water cast right up too the bank , set the rod tip low and crawl it back . Thats been my best big fish tactic early .
  9. I use 7'6" flipping rods with Quantum 1310 baitcasters spooled with 15 lb Big Game . I dont go after monster cats . I caught one about forty lbs and that was on an ultra light .
  10. I pitch way more than I flip . I still use the two terms separately . It really doesnt make any difference except often people are not on the same page during discussions . .
  11. Something similar happened to me . I was fishing a quarter ounce jig . After making a cast and letting the lure settle the line was in an arc shape up in the air . There was a storm coming but still miles away . I reeled in and headed back .
  12. The center mass of single tungsten ball should roll toward the rear of the sound chamber during the cast more than the center mass of several BB's .
  13. I dont have a Two Tap [ yet ] but it may very well cast better , even if they are the same weight .The center of balance with a small tungsten might be different than that of a standard bait .
  14. A couple of years back I was using a Storm spinnerbait with light wires . It only lasted about 6 fish . I caught a 6 lber then one fish later it broke on a dink .
  15. I prefer a clean deck . I trip over trolling motor pedals . WRB I'm surprised you caught those bass in front of those guys . I would have waited .
  16. I'm a fan of Clunn but his method of breaking down a reservoir into three sections didnt make a whole lot of sense to me . I think Bassmaster was just looking for a filler article .
  17. I dont use tubes enough . My success rate with them is pretty good . I usually Texas rig them in place of a worm .
  18. They swim . haha If theres is a point or other break line at the mouth of the cove bass will use it . Otherwise they just move from shallow to deep and are harder to pinpoint . Bass are everywhere but a cove with a point attached is easy to fish . I often start deep on the point or structure and work my way shallow then into the cove but so does a whole slew of other anglers . Rick Clunn breaks reservoirs down into three sections just like a creek . That never worked for me .
  19. I use the same sizes as I did twenty years ago .
  20. Bouncing lures on the bottom is my forte . I learned by just doing it . Try a standard Texas rig and six inch worm . Strikes are light and you will have to learn strike detection . When in doubt set the hook . Weedy bottoms , I would think a light 1/8 ounce weight , would work well . Patience , diligence and confidence. Some people never get it and others pick it up quickly .
  21. Yeah , theres your problem , not enough hook for that body . The Bass Pro Stump Jumper might have a larger hook .
  22. Use heavier gear and a lure with a bigger hook gap .. I dont like to use light action rods for this very reason .
  23. I just use inexpensive Strike King Bitsy Bugs . They get bit .
  24. Dont try to copy the pros . You dont need a setup for every technique . If your fishing from a boat I would have about four casting setups that will handle everything . I dont have terribly expensive equipment and do just fine . I usually take a 7 foot med action rod that is used mostly for crankbaits . A 6'10" med hvy for worming . A couple of 6'6" inch rods for everything else . Throw in a spinning combo and i'm covered . With a 400 dollar budget I would get two maybe three combos . There are some clearance sales going on right now and I bet I could squeeze three combos out of four hundred dollars .
  25. My cousins kids are bitten by the bass bug now and they wont leave me alone . They have been catching some nice fish too . Now they have a trolling motor and depth finder , looks like I'm going to have some eager anglers to compete with .
