  1. Looks good to me .
  2. I have fished in the fall where decaying leaves stained the water to something resembling tea . Shad will work fine , i would also get sunfish , crawdad , fire tiger and chrome .
  3. I dont think there are that many people who cant read a topo map or a depth finder . They may not know what to look for but thats a different story .
  4. This is the second time you mentioned ceder water . Whats that ? I googled it and came up with Cedar water and it resembles tea .

I have the buzzbait version .
  6. I know lots of lakes that dont have near the quality fish they use to .
  7. Theres almost always shallow fish , just go down the bank fishing visible cover thoroughly and pay attention. Make every cast count for something . No random casting . Look at the slope of the bank and envision it under water . If your not casting at cover cast at a depth . Its a learning process and its only failure if you dont learn anything .
  8. Heres a few crakbaits that I use . 8 to 10 foot Norman Deep Little N 10 to 12 foot Rapala CR14 Crankin Rap 12 to 17 Strike King 6xd Strike King Red Eye Shad for all depths . I have the entire line of Crankin Raps . They have produced well for me . I just purchased the entire line of Berkely Dredgers all in Fire Tiger , that I havent used yet . I'll give them a go this coming summer .
  9. I have never done that . Sounds like fun . Those kind of depths are too deep around here .
  10. Its the best time of year for a floating minnow bait . I use the Bomber Long A . My other lures are pretty much the same as yours .
  11. Spinnerbaits sink so they cover the entire water column and work excellent in deep water . Expect bigger than average fish when used deep . They are also more snag-proof than a lot of other lures .They are among best lures for precision casting/pitching in shallow cover .
  12. Reading sonar is enjoyable to me . Often I do more scouting than fishing . I cut my teeth using a Humminbird Super Sixty . Looking at those flashes and trying to determine if they are fish , cover or what was difficult for me but following contours with it was simple . Todays digital units are easy to read . My old Eagle Fish Mark 320 paints the prettiest pictures in black and white . I converted it into a portable unit and take it to small lakes . I now have a downscan unit that I'm toying with . The detail with it is incredible . To me the easy part is interpreting structure . Cover was the more difficult part but the downscan usually removes almost all doubt what is down there . Humps , points , channels , saddles ... should be obvious even with an antique flasher . Oops This is a seven year old thread .
  13. In use a short pistol grip rod for top waters .
  14. I have a lot of success doing it with a Red Eye Shad . Hop it until it is right below the boat , lift it and hold it still .
  15. I never had a lot of luck with grubs on a Carolina rig . I have caught a few with 5 inch Kalins in brown and chartreuse . I think it was called Witches Brew .
  16. 20 foot average depth, I read . Looks like its loaded with points . Post spawn and points is a good combo .
  17. I'm guessing its going to be post spawn . Do I stack my team with shallow power fishermen , deepwater gurus , flippers , crankers ? I've already picked and its stacked with one . I may change as the event nears .
  18. Reelfoot was tops on my must see list and about ten years ago I spent several days there .It was some of the worse bass fishing I ever had .Only one keeper bass was caught . I spent a few hours on Eufala and would like to spend a week there .
  19. Lake Conore is next and its only 20,000 acres . I dont recall a lake that small being chose for a BASS event .
  20. Black chartreuse .
  21. Would colored clothes pins in the mouth stay in place ?
  22. I have a photo from a long time ago when I was a teenager , I cant post on the internet . I exceeded the limit for sauger . A lot ..
  23. I jumped from 8 to 43 percent .The first time I selected my favorites the second time I got lucky . I didnt study, just picked 4 Alabama and 1 Louisiana boy . Horton was the only angler I picked for both events .
  24. Sometimes second is better than first . Ott Defoe was awarded 340 points for second and Horton 315 points for first . Ott gets 40 bonus points for largest stringer of the tourney and 5 bonus points for leading the first day . Horton was awarded 15 bonus points foe leading three days .
