  1. Many times I go fishing with just one lure . I would take a med action bait caster a plastic worm , spinner bait and maybe a lipless crankbait but it all depends on the conditions . All three lures perform well at any depth .
  2. Thats a good strategy . NCAA basketball tourney , I use a random number generator
  3. I have never been able to catch the most finicky bass . I think I saw her laughing .
  4. The clip-ons are unnoticeable and they make them to fit about any frames . The problem I had with owning a pair of subscription sunglasses , is I had to carry two pairs of glasses often . I'm going to sneak in a big bass picture , but these are clip-ons .
  5. I cant imagine a drop shot working in that stuff and surely not a lipless crankbait . We must not be on the same page . Theres another thread started today called "understanding vegetation" with a picture . Thats the stuff I'm talking about . Its just thick slimy moss , no stems , leaves ...
  6. I have fished it with a lot of success . So thick and slimy the only way to fish it is on top . I use a weightless Yum Swurm and Big heavy hook . Just plop it on top work it into holes , thin spots or twitch in place . When a big bass hit I dont set the hook until the fish is felt . There isnt much of a fight because they become entangled in the stuff .They are difficult to reel in with the moss adding all that extra weight and having to come through it too ..
  7. Yeah , that would be hard to imagine , thats why nobody does it .
  8. I used a weightless Yum Wurm with a big heavy hook . The bass cant even fight , they have to be drug entangled in several pounds of moss .
  9. Arbogast Mudbug fished s-l-o-w .
  10. I wear glasses and buy inexpensive spring loaded clip ons . I like the brown lens ones foe everyday use and fishing . Make sure there is space between the sun glasses and regular glasses or the scrips will eventually get scratched up . Be careful putting them on and off .
  11. Me too pkfish . I sliced my finger like a knife using braid . i'll never use it again either .
  12. The pond down the street looked like that a few years ago .I caught several big bass out of that muck . I had it to myself because no one else figured out how to fish in it .
  13. 12 lb test XT is listed at .015 inches thick . 17 lb test XL .015 inches thick . This is from the Berkely web site .
  14. The simple jig has to be mentioned too .
  15. Thats a hundred mile drive . I bought it in a combo package I'll just replace the reel .
  16. Me too . An old Berkeley Titanium series with a shorter handle than most rods .
  17. I would go with xl fluorescent blue . That visibility is a game changer for me . Its also a thinner diameter than xt . Maybe thats why xt is tougher because it is bigger .
  18. I use clear blue fluorescent mono filament when bouncing lures in deep water such as steep pints . Its a lot easier technique with a visible line . Let the lures fall on a semi tight line . When the lure hits bottom it will slacken up a bit . It wont take long to get the hang of it . Windy days will require a heavier lure and a lower rod position .
  19. Texas rigs and crankbaits mostly . The same lures that allow me to hit bottom on long extended points ., Sinking lures naturally follow the contour .Just let them sink , move it , repeat . Diving lures can be used off the sides to follow the contour for a bit . I usually just throw those well pass the area I want to hit and make sure it dives deeper than the bottom I'm trying to cover .
  20. Jigs are good . Crankbaits and spinnerbits have also worked for me . Location and timing are important . I like the afternoon on steeper sunny banks . Parallel cast and reel extremely slow .Marabou crappie jigs have caught me a couple of lunkers .
  21. Thousand Hills , Hazel Creek ? Never mind , you wrote Forrest Lake . Thats Thousand Hills .
  22. You asked specifically about lipess cranks but a lot of inexpensive lures will work with same retrieve . Plastic swimbaits would be a cheaper alternative . I like to use the prerigged ones that come several in a package for a couple of dollars .
  23. I always have gut feelings and its inevitable that some will pan out . The law of averages , you know . I have a gut feeling about a spot in a local lake that i havent tried yet . I lucked into a deep school of dinks one day last fall .Saw them on my depth finder as I was crossing a large cove .They were in the middle of no where half way across . This is an old lake and the channel is silted in , or so I thought . When the bite slowed down [ around fifty bass were caught ] I started searching for some sort of structure and approximately twenty yards away were the remnants of the creek channel . My gut tells me its a big fish spot . I'll find out this summer .
  24. I loved mine until it quit working . It lasted three years and then the level wind just stopped moving . I would buy another for fifty dollars .
  25. I bought that exact pack and still have the small one . That's a good bait . I can remember one spring pitching it into brush piles and catching keeper bass .
