  1. First one is skinny second looks to be barely legal, three and four look like nice fish .
  2. Number 10 egg hook ? Like a salmon egg hook ?
  3. Most of the time I use small blades that I can barely feel , even on 3/8 and 1/2 ounce lures .
  4. The straighter the worm on a Texas rig the less twist it will create . I bend the part next to the eye slightly creating a straight line from that small section to the point . The top photo shows one before and after the bend and the bottom shows how a worm would lay naturally . Its easy see how this bend will allow for a straighter rig .
  5. The wire in A-rigs and spinnerbaits are necessary . I'll wager every last penny that if the wires were invisible they would catch more fish .
  6. Mister Twister Twin Tail grub .
  7. I bet the Jamaicans would put together a team .
  8. I dont put to much thought into jig trailers . I have used a lot of different ones and have not found one to be special .
  9. It has never even crossed my mind . As far as snaps making lure changes faster , the line needs to be checked for damage and clipped any way throughout the day
  10. Line visibility does make a difference . People who fish clear water use smaller line than those who fish muddy water . They do this because they get more bites not because they were told they have to use light line .
  11. I use both and cant really tell you when or why . I was fishing Red Eyed Shads earlier this week deep , hopping it like a worm and catching fish . Started out with the Rattlinng version and when the fish quit hitting it and were just bumping it I went with the silent one and the bite picked back up . I only have 1 silent RES and it is defective , the weight is loose so it is now a one knocker . It works great .
  12. I use 12 lb Big Game for most applications because it is good line and inexpensive . For Texas rigs and jigs I opt for 17 lb trlene xl because it is a thin diameter line for its strength and it comes in clear blue fluorescent . I like to be able to see my line with those lures . If Big Game came in clear blue fluorescent then I would use it in 15 lb . That stuff is amazingly strong .
  13. Depends are where the bass are and what mood they are in . Yesterday I expected shallow fish and found them 13 to 20 foot deep . A Red Eyed Shad worked like a worm caught bunches of them . Today it might be a whole new ball game . A
  14. Keep trying . Once you get efficient with a Texas rig worm , you will be able to fish anything . Dont overthink it . A t-rigged 2.0 offset hook with a sliding 3/16th ounce weight is what I would use . Just keep throwing it in the snags and concentrate on how it feels . Some strikes will be slight taps and others will just feel like a leaf on your bait . That first fish will come and then many many more .
  15. Manns Jelly Worm but any brand would have worked . I just dont see the need to carry lots of different brands .
  16. Its hard telling what they will be hitting . I catch them deep when I think they should be shallow and vice versa . Just pick lures based on depth , cover ... just like the rest of the year . Actually I think lure choice is the easiest part . The difficult part is finding bass .
  17. This is a "96" , I think . I found it on the internet . I dont remember what site it was . I had to drive 100 moles for it .
  18. Heres the route I went . The wife wanted a pontoon boat and of course I wanted a fishing boat . So we settled on a 22 foot Lowe deck boat . Two depth finders 80 lb thrust trolling motor ,live well for me . Stereo , wrap around seating , Bimini top for her . It actually fished better than I expected . Look at the size of that deck .
  19. I would buy a couple if I found them . I'm guessing they will run 5 to 6 foot deep .
  20. Some of the rods from that time period I still use .
  21. I mostly use 17 lb test trilene xl clear blue fluorescent . Its strong , flexible , castable, visible and .015 .inches thick .
  22. Where are you fishing and what fish are available ? There may be other fish more cooperating than bass . I started out fishing for bullheads and bluegills . They were plentiful and got me hooked om fishing .
  23. This is how I will approach my local lake with stained water . I will most likely start out deep on a major main lake point at the mouth of a creek .Then simply fish my way to the back of the creek and hopefully find a pattern . This is the time of year where I go junk fishing , just work my way down the bank and fishing visible cover . If I get on steep banks then I will throw a deep diving crankbait to follow the contour .I expect the fishing to be good .
  24. I see that all the time . I fish a small lake with 5 major coves . Sometimes only one will have bass and it will be loaded and you never know which one its going to be . Its just one of those things . Bass are both predictable and unpredictable .
  25. I have a Gander mountain clearance rod that I use all the time .Its the Lady guide series and I use it for worms and jigs .
