  1. I dont know if shad can even survive in a small pond. I have seen some chub like minnows in ponds. They are more hearty than shad.
  2. I bet twitching that mr Hankey lure around discarded tires would work well.
  3. You need to try a lure and a color that always work. I see them posted here often "Always work for me" . I keep forgetting to write them down.
  4. I was wading a small inlet to a river. Reeling in a Rattle Trap and I saw a big fish miss it but it was still in hot pursuit. When I finished the retrieve in calf deep water I let the lure dangle in the water and the bowfin smashed it just a couple of feet away . Took me by surprise. I thought it was a lunker smallmouth.
  5. I need to look for Dicks so I can grab some bags .
  6. Buy a Bass Baby. It has wheels and will fit inside a full size pickup truck . I load mine by myself. You can fish spots where bass have never seen a bait. Unpressured bass bite much better than the heavily pressured reservoir fish, Heres one caught in a Missouri irrigation ditch fishing from the Bass Baby.
  7. Suffix Elite is real good too.
  8. I use the trilene knot , which is very similar to the improved cinch. I could nit tie a satisfactory knot with the one spool of fluorocarbon that I tried. I just stick with mono .
  9. I've lost a lot of big fish by trying to horse them in including two hawgs on back to back cast.
  10. Over the years Ive caught about six cold water lunkers on Arbogast Mudbugs. Ice out conditions on steep sunny banks in mid afternoon.
  11. I only have two old wiggle warts left. One without a rattle or a stuck rattle and a large one I found snagged . I need to to replace the hooks on it .
  12. I can only recall one time in my life where I ran out of a particular color soft plastic and couldnt get bit on anything else. That was on a lime green Fliptail worm.
  13. Sounds like me and my uncle. He will fish a spot forever and I move on down the bank. I have a lot more success than him . Unless I'm targeting a specific target I'll often take a couple of steps or more after every cast.
  14. I nabbed a new in package USA made Luhr Jensen Speed Trap with no rattles.
  15. If youre seeing fish jumping out of the water and flopping loudly then I dont think they are bass .
  16. Yeah , but the south side is closer to the equator .
  17. I wouldnt take a talking bass seriously . The one I caught is a big fat liar .
  18. I have no scientific proof that bass can taste salt , its just hard for me to imagine that they cant. Larew salt craws work well , A local bait store sells them in bulk .
  19. I have caught lots of fish on Beetle Spins. The old 1/4 ounce ones were one of my favorite lures . I caught a couple of six pound fish on the crawdad colored 1/4 ounce beetle. New 1/4 ounce baits are a lot smaller .
  20. Have you tried using the bobber stops on heavier rigs? I use a 3/4 ounce weight most of the time and would love to have an adjustable leader length . Are the sixth sense pegs better than the pegs I get at wal mart ?
  21. I like to work a lipless crank like a plastic worm. Rattle traps lay over when dropped. Red Eyes actually have action when dropped. Surprisingly , I catch more fish on the traps.
