  1. I was fishing from bank. Cast a jig and pig over a log. Got a hit on the other side of the log.I was using 14 lb Stren. I set the hook on a large bass. I reared back hard , I had to get the bass over the log and hope the line holds. This huge bass sky rockets in the air as i pulled him over the log and then the lure comes out.
  2. My first choice would be tubes on 1/4 ounce jg heads .
  3. I dont think I've ever spent over 6 dollars for a lure.
  4. If that is the normal water color just fish it normally. Bass know their environment . You could use a clear worm and the bass would know its there .
  5. I think most of us have purchased lures and just never get around to fishing them . Going through my tackle I found a Luhr Jensen Brush Baby purchased thirty something years ago. I dont know if I ever fished it. I'm moving it to my number 1 crankbait box to make sure I see and use it this year. You guys have much success with a Brush Baby? What are some old lures you have forgotten about ?
  6. Best fishing lure gift someone could get me are some vintage Warts , Big jims , Deep Wee R's ..,
  7. No. I never get a strange supernatural feeling that there is a fish right there and cast at it.
  8. LMB , SMB , Walleye , Yellow Perch , Crappie , Bluegill . Largemouth bass is very good. My dad always said he didnt like them. I have no idea where he came up with that. He gobbles them up when I fix them. If you fish a lake with a slot limit , keep a limit under the slot. You will help the fishery and have excellent table fare .
  9. Now thats a gnawed up lure . ^ ^
  10. I used triple fish cammo line. I just dont like Triple fish that much. I understand the concept and Bass professor Doug Hannon use to color his line. At times , I will color my line in two inch strips for a few feet with a black marker . I have seen it make a difference. Others will chime in that they "know" line visibility doesnt matter , ever . You can have both use a marker on clear blue fluorescent at times where you think it might help .
  11. Well I'll be .
  12. Really ? You feed dead dogfish to deer ? How do they like it ?
  13. I want to learn my brand spanking new downscan Lowrance. I am anxious. Might not get a lot of fishing in at first. I'll be looking at everything. I use to fish an old bridge and there was a stickup on both ends. I always thought they were post, now maybe I'll find out .
  14. Thats a great video. Now I wonder what would be a good practice on a lake with a 15 inch minimum. Maybe keep fish 15 to 17 inches and not feel guilty at the cleaning station .
  15. . I wear progressive glasses. I want polarized transition lens., if thats possible .
  16. Xenomorph canicula .
  17. Memo to self. Bladed jigs work in cold water . Thanks for letting me know .
  18. I know about it. I had to think about it for awhile . LOL. I was thinking wild spawning fish .
  19. Good post. Ive been amazed at how good bass know their environment . I once saw a smallmouth chasing my lure while it was still in the air. He intercepted it as soon as it touched down.
  20. Kind of confusing. I had to think about it for awhile .
  21. We need a thread on how deep different baits go. I know how some of my old ones perform but newer baits I have to guess. on 12 lb mono Deep Little N's are what i reach for in ten foot of water. Deep Wee R's in 8 foot , Fat Raps at 6 foot . .
  22. I like free lures. I found a Storm Rattlin Thin Fin off an exposed stump last year. This lure is all chewed up. It was a favorite of somebody . Its got brand new hooks now and waiting to be put back into action .
