  1. Mono for everything , I dislike braids . I need to give floro another shot though . A different brand than what I used before . It was hideous stuff and I couldnt even tie a suitable knot with it .
  2. Dont know what mine is on a largemouth , there are so many so close. I think this is my biggest smallmouth . Caught on a popper .
  3. I dont know how the fishing will be but Reelfoot is quite the experience . Super shallow , stumps all over. I fished it once in May an it was difficult. You should be getting there at peak crappie time. Welcome.
  4. There was a bass camped out on piece of standing timber . Im guessing a male bass. You could see large wakes as it would chase off the sunfish trying to get at the nest. Every time I would get in casting distance it would disappear. Three different days I targeted that bass .No matter how stealthy I was , it knew I was there . I finally gave up. I learned a lesson. I dont think you can seak up on a bass with an electric motor. They know you're there .
  5. Ive picked up some Owner Twist Lock hooks $2.oo . Like you a couple of Rick Clunn cranks. I'm keeping my eye on some Falcon rods. They are marked down to 99.00 thats not great . If they get down to around 60 I'll buy what they have .
  6. Heres maybe the longest bass I ever caught , but skinny . Taken about 1980 ,on a jig and Uncie Josh waterdawg pork bait.
  7. I fish them on the same outfits . 6.5 foot med action rods .
  8. Thanks for the reply. I was wondering about them before this thread .
  9. My uncle and I were fishing in a pond. It was cold , dont remember the month. He was throwing a buzzbait and I thought it was way to cold for one. I was wrong .
  10. Looks to me like the weedguard is lost every time a fish is caught. Id go through 5 packs a day
  11. I use to snag with some friends. They all used big spinning rods to cast the heavy weights. I just used a Abu 5000 D and a flipping rod and could cast twice the distance as them .
  12. If you can see the fish feeding and cant get hit on bottom , throw something shallower.
  13. I dont target them but catch them occasionally . Jig and pig and plastic worms mainly , never have caught one on a top water . Heres one I caught while smallmouth fishing.
  14. Explain the rig. what is the small piece of plastic for ? Never mind, I get it .I remember you use a spring keeper on the bend and the plastic blocks the skirt from sliding on the hook .
  15. I have an old clear lip one that doesnt rattle and i'm not beating it with a mallet to make it rattle . LOL
  16. I am terrible at explaining things but here goes. To make a regular jig head weedless in a pinch. Push the point of the hook through the head of a soft plastic. make a loop in the line and snag it with the barb and pull it through the lure. Then tie the jig to the line. Now slide the plastic down onto the eye and texas rig it. Its real simple if my directions make since . it will look like this Edited: Forgot to mention that it needs to be pegged .
  17. I think I heard you mention this before. Was it at Hazel Creek ? Its managed for lunker bass {18 inch length limit] and Musky. Ive only fished there once and caught two muskies on french fry worms . I hope to get back there this season .
  18. I really dont know what my PB is. Ive caught a lot of bass in that seven lb range and quite possibly a couple to hit 8. It seems that is about the upper limit swimming in our public lakes up here. Anything bigger is rare. Private waters is a different story. A friend caught a huge fish in a strip pit. I made him upset because I jokingly said that fish didnt count because he caught it where others cant fish . LOL
  19. Mosquitoes Sunburn Sweat Sore back Fun
  20. I've used the BPS 1/4 ounce Triple Ripple horsehead lures deep on points and caught bass. If the lure sinks , I fish it on the bottom and deep. Lipless cranlbaits , same way . S K Rocket Shads are great fished that way.
  21. Game hogs. The game hogs discovered my best catfish spot and ruined it days .
  22. The old green Cardinals are the best looking spinning reels ever .
  23. I have towed a lot of boats back and have been towed myself. Me and my twelve year old son rescued a drowning man out of the Arkansas river upstream of the Royal Gorge . It was pretty harrowing. White water is not my sport .
  24. Sorry for your loss .
  25. Bagleys use to be the high priced lures.I didnt like paying 5 dollars for a Killer B then bounce it off a bridge piling. I learned real quick that Bombers model A's also caught bass off bridge pilings .
