  1. Welcome! I use maps for unfamiliar waters to gauge areas I want to check out points, channels, breaklines, rocks, etc. But I need the electronics to see depth, breaklines, and structure. As an example, it is more difficult without the electronics when I want to fish the 10 ft breakline around a point.
  2. I guess that's what ESPN meant when they stated they were going to grow the sport. :-[
  3. Muddy, didn't you just get a new system a couple of months ago? The Dell's are real easy to hook up, just follow the quick start guide. Hooking up the monitor to the fridge might be cool, but hooking up cable to the system will make it sing.
  4. I also like hard jerkbaits and soft Fin'S Fish as my primary search bait in spring/summer/fall. But if it's summer, morning, cloudy, there's a little chop on the water, and some action on the surface, then I'll use a zara spook, or spit'n image as my search baits. But to be honest, I don't catch much on topwater (tend to set the hook too fast), so I keep a 4 black Senko rigged and handy. When I miss the topwater strike, I set the topwater rod immediately down (letting the lure sit on the surface) and throw the Senko directly to the spot where the strike occurred this works a lot for me. I do the same with missed jerkbait strikes and swipes.
  5. Check out the weather forecasting website with Solunar table. Interesting. http://www.outdoorsfanweather.com/
  6. Depending on the size of your boat and the HP of your motor, you might already be covered for liability under your homeowners insurance. Check with your agent.
  7. The other half of my team is a police officer trained in interrogation. We put Ron in a van after the competition, put a 400-watt light in his face, and grill him until he cracks. Then again, there is always Chinese water torture.
  8. Hey Muddy, you peaked my interest. How about a friendly competition at Mauch Chunk in the Spring The Mooks versus the Gunslingers. Aluminum jon/row boats with a trolling motor No Electronics, map okay Two rods per angler (2 instead of 1, just incase one breaks) A sandwich bag for each angler, which must hold all the anglers tackle and lures Format: 4 hour tournament. Each angler gets to pick the spot for both boats to fish for one hour at a time. Flip of a coin to see which is boat 1 (boat 1 - angler 1 first hour; boat 2 - angler 1 second hour; boat 1 angler 2 third hour, boat 2 angler 2 fourth hour. The boats will stay within 50 yards of each other at all times, with the non-controlling boat to remain behind the other boat). Winnings Each angler throws in a 10 pack of GYCB Senkos (we all use them), and winning angler (or team) takes all. All determined by length of bass converted to weight: I have a conversion sheet of length to weight from Pennsylvania for Largemouth and Smallmouth, 5 bass limit per angler. What do you think?
  9. Thanks Glenn for the explanation. Without hesitation, reservation and further conversation, I will institute the application of visiting the advertiser's destination, in order to avoid paying a donation for the education I get on this Bass Resource location, which will then result in this site receiving compensation so it can continue it's administration and operation without any consternation. I get it! Sorry, couldn't resist the temptation.
  10. So which one is Rosie and which one is the Donald?
  11. It always has been a controversial discussion regarding dying fish in a tournament. The club I belonged to frowns against releasing dying fish in a tournament. We considered it a waste of natural resources to put back a fish that will obviously die. We take the dying/dead fish to the scales and accept the penalty. Then someone takes the fish home to eat. Good job on your first tourney. Congrats.
  12. Lit'l bit of an attitude there eh?

My goto lures in that temp range are jigging spoons (Kastmaster 1/4 oz), silver buddys, and suspending jerkbaits.
  14. So does that mean I can look forward to catching the Florida strain of Largemouth up here in Pennsylvania any time soon?

Sorry Muddy, but I've got to work on MLK day reviewing details of the Physical Inventory at my company so we can be back in business on Tuesday.
  16. Not selling one, but saw one for sale while I was buying a boat last weekend, located in Bloomsburg, PA. http://www.townemarine.com/moredetails.html?87066320&sitecode=townemarine
  17. Might look good on a T-Shirt

Well, if I was FORCED to wear a Yankees cap, I would go with the NY Yankees Cooperstown Wool Classic Cap, as it doesn't look like the regular Yankees hat.
  19. I use a poor man's Bisonix. I throw a Rat'l'trap (liv-N-sound) occasionally while I'm fishing, to try and get the fish activated.
  20. David Hall. The greatest jigging spoon angler I know. Also, the most helpful and nicest guy you would ever meet.
  21. I also like the Bass Stalker Jigs best, but I've only sampled about a dozen of the gazillion different Jigs out there.

Call Wacky Worm at 1-888-285-2050, if anybody's got the worms you're looking for (and I believe they do) these people will They've got the largest selection of plastic I've ever seen. Also, I don't know if they still have them, but in the past they have sold irregulars of Japanese plastics that are not sold in the U.S.A., and they have worked real well for me ask about them. Oh yeah... Welcome aboard!
  23. Zara Spook Pop-R Bass Oreno Wow, nobody ranked Chuck Woolery's Moto Lure, Roland Martin's Helicopter Lure, or Cotton Cordell's Jimmy Carter The Prez lure as top choices. Surprising.
