Banning skin mounts
Yours looks like mine, almost exactly. Being that you are from Durant, there is a good chance it was done by the same person.

BPT Lake Eufaula
Finally got to watch a recap. I saw a lot of chatterbaits and crankbaits, that was one of the complaints before. I guess the difference this time is they were using those baits to catch bigger fish. LOL

Lol, that's what I wish I would have done!

Well that's what I thought as well, but some people are acting like now that the change was made they are all of a sudden trying to catch 4 and 5 pounders as if they weren't before.

Help with trolling motor for 17 ft Lund
I'm not an engineer so I will probably muff this up and someone with more knowledge can explain it better. But a cable driven motor does just that, it works off of cables in the foot pedal that control the head which in turn controls the shaft/motor. To me, it is a more "connected" feel to the motor and gives you much more precise steering. This is very helpful in skinny water or if you get hung up and you are trying to make subtle movements to get unhung. The electric steering like on the Terrova is more of a touch to move and can be very finicky. The pedal is flat and doesn't move up and down like a cable driven pedal does. This makes it difficult to get comfortable standing with your foot on the pedal. You also have to look at the head to see which direction you are going before hitting the button if it has been a minute since you moved last. With a cable driven motor you can feel the pedal and get an idea of the direction of movement without having to look at the head. As mentioned earlier though the Auto Pilot or Constant feature is nice. You can use the 2 buttons (left and right arrows) to make slight adjustments as you troll without having to move the pedal to turn one way or the other. All in all the Terrova isn't a bad TM, I just wish someone would have told me to get the Ultrex. I hope this sort of makes sense, maybe someone will chime in with a better explanation.

Go with the Ultrex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't care if you have to wait a month to save some extra cash, it will be worth it over the Terrova. I have the Terrova and while it does the job and the spot lock is great, the pedal stinks. The deploy and stow isn't nearly as nice as a TM with a cable and handle either. I was talked into getting the Terrova by a "salseman" not a "fisherman".

BPT Lake Eufaula
Serious question. Do you guys think the weights would be different if the line was still at one pound? Would J Lee not have caught those fish? Would he be targeting smaller fish? I am no where near the angler these guys are, my goal is to catch fish, just wondering if they now are strictly looking for fish over 2 lbs.

Shimano parts
Are you sure the newer handles will work with some of the older reels with straight drag stars? I thought I remember reading about it, or maybe I tried it on a Core 50mg7. I don't have any older models to test on or I would see. All newer handles are interchangeable with newer reels though.

You could just try it and find out for yourself if you wanted. I have learned a lot of things in my life by actually trying it. Some things will work and some won't, but sometimes you will never know till you try. I realize we live in a day and age where we can send an email and expect a detailed response within no time and an absolute answer to our question. But believe it or not, it hasn't always been that way and people have been doing modifications to things for years and years by simply trying.

Banning skin mounts
I had a replica done of my PB, it looks nothing like it. Wish I would have went with a skin mount. I had pics from the guys work and it looked great. I guess I assumed mine would look exactly like the fish I caught and it doesn't. Every time I look at it I think, well that doesn't look like my PB at all. But it is what it is.

Ike played the 5 fish format yesterday (not on purpose) but it worked out for him.

Shimano parts
Yep, there are a ton of parts that are. I have replaced different handles, handle nuts, cast control caps, knobs and knob caps. There are also a lot of bearings, brakes, and gears that are as well, but I don't mess with the internals.

Favorite Polarized Sunglasses?
I have a stupid shaped head so finding glasses that are comfortable is a task. My Costa Jose's feel too big but my Costa Fantail's are too tight. The Jose's have green plastic lenses and the Fantail's have blue glass lenses. I like the green plastic better but the Jose's feel like they are going to fall off when I bend over but the Fantail's feel like they are going to pierce through the side of my melon at anytime. I have a pair of Oakley Gascans with gray lenses and the frames are WAY too big. I also have Oakley fives squared with silver lenses and they fit the best but the lenses aren't as good as the Costa's. I have some Oakley Gascan Small glasses without polarized lenses so I may order some lenses for those and give them a shot.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I have the 6'8 MH. I really only got it for pitching to targets in creeks or in and around docks, but I think it will see more time on the water than just that. LOL I got it for $205 shipped brand new with tags. It was on the auction site, made the seller the offer and they took it. Might have just been the model though.

Disappointed in the Curado DC
I had the Curado and the Scorpion DC100. They were both fine reels but not anything I didn't feel like my other reels could do. Like I have said before, to me, the only advantage I could tell was into the wind with a spinnerbait. I sold both of mine simply due to the resale value and the fact that I didn't feel like I needed the technology. I replaced them with Bantam MGL's and would do it again.

I fished them both on Sunday. It was my first time to use the Expride. The weather was TERRIBLE. Wind blowing 20-30 with sideways rain at times. I did a lot of power fishing due to the wind but was able to find a couple pockets where I could get out of the wind a bit and fish some soft plastics. I have 3 Zodias rods that I use for bottom contact and I love them, everything about them. I wasn't thrilled about the cork on the Expride or the small cork foregrip. I had heard so many good things about the Expride that I was excited to get it. My plan was to put the SLX MGL 70 on it but when I held it I knew it needed a Bantam. I put one on and it felt amazing in my hand. Tossed a lure around the yard for a little bit and was really impressed with the grip (which was one of my worries going into it). The ONLY reason I bought the Expride was because I got a really good deal on it, otherwise I would have just bought another Zodias. I really didn't think it would be that much better and since I got such a good deal it would just be another tool for me to use. I had tied on a 3/16 oz Buckeye jig with a Reaction Innovations smallie beaver as a trailer. It really only took me about 4 casts before I realized this stick was far better than my Zodias. That is not something I expected or really even wanted to admit. I can't afford to replace all of my Zodias rods with Exprides, but if money were no option, I would in a heartbeat. I could literally feel everything. It was to the point where I could feel my braid blowing in the wind. I wasn't able to manage a fish on it but it impressed me beyond belief. I will definitely be getting a few more in the future. I will be ordering a 7'2 MH as soon as I can to replace my Zodias 7'2 MH. I will more than likely replace all of my bottom contact rods with Exprides. I hate to admit that they are that much better, but I would be lying if I said they weren't. Even if you are paying full price, they are worth the $50 - $60 more that you will pay.

Disappointed in the Curado DC
The only time I noticed an advantage with the DC was in the wind throwing a bait that has a tendency to "catch air" like a spinnerbait or buzzbait. It seemed to help keep the line from blowing up when the bait caught air. I also noticed it was only helpful when using mono as opposed to braid. I didn't try mine with fluoro though.

Is buying a Shimano reel from Japan on EBay ok??
A bunch. No problems at all. Last one I got from Japan to Oklahoma in 6 days.

Wow, at least he has his health.

Disappointed in the Curado DC
If what you say is true, return it for another. Then if it happens again, well, it ain't the reel. What I don't understand is how people have problems with these and say they follow instructions. If you have ever used a baitcaster (and obviously you have) you really shouldn't need any instructions. That is why I am guessing something is wrong with the reel.

Worst hooksets?
I'm certainly not the best fisherman, nor do I consider myself to be very smart, but I often wonder if their first "strike" if you want to call it that is an attempt to injure the prey to make it easier to eat. Maybe it is more of a thought out approach to feeding as opposed to a moving topwater bite like a buzzbait. Similar to maybe a strike on a jig or soft plastic versus a spinnerbait or crankbait. Could be that I am totally wrong and they don't have the thought process to act in such a manner, just something I have given thought to.
