  1. I just ordered a 70 SLX MGL just to give it a go
  2. I have an Aldebaran 50 on a 6'10 ML Zodias with 10 lb fluoro for 1/16 oz T-Rigs and shakey heads and it is a great little setup. I don't throw it a ton as I don't enjoy that style nearly as much but when the bite is tough I go light.
  3. I have one......I wonder if that's too many
  4. I sort of like Shimano as well

  6. Looked like a great deal until I too realized that I was a little too big for the sizes available.
  7. Yep, I usually order 2 of each color I get when I buy hard baits, I just couldn't do it this time. Hopefully I don't regret it.
  8. I just cropped out the rest of the order so I could fit in
  9. There is a canvas place near me that makes tarps, covers, etc. for all sorts of things. You can take them your boat and they custom make one specifically for your boat. Double stitch the windshield, the trolling motor, everything. They are amazing covers. I will be taking my boat over there soon. They are about $700 but the ones I have seen look like they are worth every penny. Right now my boat is just under the carport and with the weather we have here, a good cover seems like it would pay for itself in no time.
  10. We were told the other day that it is our fault because we buy these over priced products that are hyped up by guys with Youtube channels who are selling us snake oil and we are buying it. Since we (anglers) are buying these $20 - $25 crankbaits and $18 Jackhammers it is allowing other companies to raise their prices as well. So, I apologize! LOL
  11. 12 or 14 lb mono depending on where I am throwing it.
  12. Here is my story on shipping rods, hopefully the ethics police don't come out in full force. I have shipped a number of rods and here is what I have found. If I take the Rod to the PO before noon then "Rick" does the measuring and I am looking at between $30 - $40 to ship usually anywhere. If I take it after noon then "Kay" does the measuring and it is about $20 - $25 every time. I asked her one day why there was a big difference, she told me that she just just measures diameter and not circumference so that makes a big difference. How true that is, I don't know, but she gets my business from now on.
  13. For me, 6ft and less is thrown on a MH, 6-10 on a M and over 10 on a M glass
  14. That seems like a lot of work to do every trip.
  15. One of the reasons I started this thread was because I ordered the e-locks for both of my units and I was thinking about returning them if I was going to be taking them off and on all the time anyway. I am also afraid I have a greater chance of dropping one of them and breaking it by taking it from the house to the truck, truck to the boat, boat back to the truck and then the truck back into the house. Thanks for all the replies.
  16. Funny this thread came up today. When I was buying my boat I was in the showroom looking at a brand new Skeeter and it had this funny looking ladder/step thing going from the tongue to the bow of the boat and I thought that goofy thing was probably useless. After I got my boat, my buddy and I took it out a few times. Launching was simple, I just sat in the drivers seat while my buddy backed me in, then when it came time to leave he backed the truck down and I pulled on the trailer and we pulled out of the water. Easy enough. However, I knew that I would eventually be fishing by myself a lot but the thought of launching and loading by myself hadn't really crossed my mind. A couple weekends ago I took my boat out by myself. Backed it in and opened my door and noticed the water was up to my back tires. Okay, now what? I stepped on my back tire and climbed into the back of my truck. Stepped over my tailgate onto my bumper and walked across the slippery tongue of the trailer like I was looking for a perfect 10 on the balance beam. I'm now at the bow, this should be easy. The only thing I really have to do is avoid the trolling motor, oh and the graph, wait, and the rods, and the foot pedal. So I swing my left leg over and begin to slide my belly over the nose of the boat. I do a semi push up and get my right leg over while trying to avoid all the "junk" at the bow. All went well (I suppose) and I was able to enjoy a day of fishing. Heading back in for the day I realized I was going to have to repeat the process, only in the reverse order. It was then that I realized what that goofy ladder thing must be handy for. I started looking around and they are pretty proud of them but I thought as much as I plan to fish, it may just be worth it. I ended up finding one that I thought would work and ordered it today. This was the one I went with https://www.qualitymarkinc.com/product-page/bow-step-3-step-port I'm only 40 with no knee issues, but I'm all about making life easier.
  17. The eyes are the window to the soul... Or in this case, a great clue on what brand crankbait
  18. My buddy uses a 5 amp and his seem to do fine so I would say it should work. That being said, if you can pay the extra for a few more amps now it would be worth it in my opinion.
  19. I have heard NOCO is a good brand. I think it was @A-Jay who recommended the NOCO GB70 which I plan to purchase very soon.
  20. Here's my first thought. If they don't like losing, they should start doing puzzles. Okay, now that I have that out of the way lol. Maybe each week you could set a different target goal weight. One week make it the five biggest. Next week make it the 5 closest to 12 lbs or something. Maybe the next week make it the 3 closest to 10 lbs or the 5 over 14" that weigh the least. Possibly have cards made up of 4 or 5 different scenarios and you draw a card before launch and that is the target or objective for that day. Once a card is drawn it is out till all the cards are used up and you start over. You could still have a BB pot for anyone that wanted in on that. This may make some people feel like they have a chance each week and possibly cull out the guys that only want to weigh their 5 best each week. I haven't heard of any tourneys done like this, it was just an idea to maybe make it fun and interesting while making some feel like they have a chance to win even if by luck.
  21. 4" roller with cap bells is my guess. I just replaced my 03 Triton tr186 and that is what I used. The pictures I could find online of the Javelin look very similar. Just a guess though
  22. I spent the $100 to have my Helix 8 mounted at the console (not many other choices) with a RAM mount but had them mount my other Helix 8 on the gimbal bracket screwed to the floor at the bow. After one trip with my boat I ordered another RAM for the bow unit. So much easier to adjust if needed and take on and off if needed. It also raised it another 7 or 8 inches which made it easier to see. I would spend the money now and mount it on a RAM, I think you would be happier in the long run.
  23. Interesting thread, thanks for starting one. I am about to go down this worm hole myself with my local lake. I have the lakemaster card and it has a basic map for the lake I fish most often. I am going to attempt to do this on this lake and see how it turns out.
