The Road To The Super Bowl 2020
BTW, I didn't mean he was immature, sorry if it came out that way. Simply a young man playing big boy football. I should have chosen better words.

Time for a power fisherman to buy a spinning combo, HELP!
Advice taken....Line ordered
-
New the board, REALLY need good advice here!
7 ratio is what I would recommend. Especially for a lipless bait. You can always slow down your retrieve with a 6 ratio (it's hard to make yourself do, but you can) but you can't make it go any faster than it will. I like to burn a lipless through or on top of grass so I prefer a faster ratio, I actually prefer an 8 ratio for them.

Time for a power fisherman to buy a spinning combo, HELP!
I have not used spinning gear much at all for bass fishing in the past. My light weight fishing has been done with a baitcaster. Like you, I decided that I was going to force myself to learn to use spinning tackle this year. I just ordered a Shimano Stradic ci4 and a Shimano Zodias 6'8" ML and plan to use 20lb Sufix 832 with 8 lb Seaguar Invisx leader. Since I bought a boat I figure it's time to learn to fish a spinning set up in deeper water and learn a more vertical presentation.

Most expensive lure you own
I think an S Song is the most expensive bait I have, but I have spent more money on Megabass stuff than I care to think about. Most of the Pop Max's I just look at.

Aldebaran rod pairing + NRX analysis
I understand that. What I don't understand is why holding it horizontal and trying to make it balance matters. No one fishes with one finger on the rod balancing it. Your hand holding the rod offsets any balance there would be, so to me it doesn't matter where a rod balances. BTW I have tried this with Curados, Chronarchs, Cores, Mets, Aldes, etc. on Zodias, Crucials, Poison Adrenas, Cumaras, etc. and the balance point is never more than an inch or two one way or the other and I bet the same can be said for any rod/reel combo.

Aldebaran rod pairing + NRX analysis
I'm struggling to comprehend all this "rod balance" in my living room stuff. Why does it matter if your rod balances in your living room? All that goes out the window as soon as you put a lure on it. As soon as that lure is 75 feet away or 20 feet away. What if that lure weighs 1/8 oz or 3/4 oz? If you are fishing a tip down presentation, does it even matter if it is "tip heavy"? If your rod weighs 4 oz how much weight is on the tip that just wears a person out? Every time this thread comes up I can't help but wonder if this is a question about how the rod actually performs and feels on the water or simply winter boredom.

BPT / MLF Format Rules Needs To Change !!
I think the TV numbers will dictate what happens going forward. If the numbers we have heard are true, there may not be any changes coming soon. If the numbers go down, they may start to tweak what we see. That being said, when you know the outcome of a football game, you don't really want to see every snap. That's how I felt watching these episodes. I already knew the outcome so I wasn't really on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen. To the average Joe watching it, he may not even know who won and him watching EE catch one after another might have been impressive to him. It is what it is, like it or hate it.

BPT / MLF Format Rules Needs To Change !!
I don't need to reply to any threads to feel special. I was just saying that there are a million different ways you could try to change the format and no matter what, someone will complain. Thanks for your 2 cents.

BPT / MLF Format Rules Needs To Change !!
Why not go to one fish? Maybe 10? How about 31? Maybe just weigh the ones over 3 lbs? Everyone uses the same lure? No electronics? Must weigh in at least one catfish? I realize some of you guys don't like it, that's fine, don't watch it. I have never watched a WNBA game because I hate watching women play basketball. Pretty simple concept really.

Want to put line on my own BC reels now, but I've got questions
I can't believe this thread is still going. I have been putting line on my own reels since I was 14, never knew it could be so difficult. LOL

Pros traveling to Florida?
These days a wrapped boat doesn't mean it was a pro. Since wrapping has become more common on many things like trucks, vans, cars etc. I have noticed that there are a lot of boats that are wrapped that are sometimes just for marketing purposes. Much like you, someone may see a wrapped boat and google the name to see who they just saw only to find out it is a business somewhere. Could be that this is for advertising purposes or it could be just a local tourney guy who is sponsored by a few local businesses and has a wrap. That being said, BASS is fishing in Kissimmee Jan 15 - 17th. So it very well could have been a pro.

Shimano Aldebaran For 1/4 oz Jig Fishing?
I have the Aldebaran 50 and the Met Mgl. The Aldebaran is on a 6'10 ML Zodias with 10lb Sufix Fluoro that I use for finesse presentations (Mostly 1/8 oz - 3/16) I just put the Met on a 6'11 M+ Poison Adrena with 15lb Tatsu that I plan to throw 1/4 oz T-Rigs or 1/4 oz jigs. I have yet to use it so the jury is out, but it feels AMAZING.

My new (used) boat
I want to thank everyone for the kind words. My wife is an amazing person indeed. I didn't include this in the original post because I wasn't sure how it would be taken. But here it is...As someone who drank everyday for the past 10+ years I decided I needed to change. One night while my wife and kids were asleep I was sitting on the couch watching TV and drinking, like I did every night. I went to the refrigerator and got a beer and walked back into the living room where there is a large mirror above our couch. I looked at myself in the mirror and said "I'm done." I walked back into the kitchen and poured every beer I had down the drain. Today makes day 115 since I have taken a drink. I made it through the OU game and I will make it through tonight. That probably doesn't seem like a big deal to some, but it has been a battle for sure. My wife encouraged me along the way and said I should get a boat to help me get out and clear my mind and do what I love. She is certainly a reason I am a changed person and I owe a lot to her.

Amateur Night ~
I will probably make it to midnight. But it's just another day. No need to celebrate for me, I'm blessed everyday and thankful for everything I have. 2019 or 2020, it's all the same to me. Been watching Youtube videos most of the evening. Pretty exciting stuff! Everyone else here is indulging but I am taking it easy. I gave it up and while the temptation is there, my will is greater.

Shimano Bantam vs Met

Popular bass fishing questions
And here I sit, much smarter than any bass out there, yet not smart enough to limit my caloric intake enough to know dang good and well that I won't be able to burn it off. Oh well, shall I ever be caught, I won't be accused of having a bucket mouth and skinny body. More like a football.

Jeaux Burreaux
BTW, I watched the game from Start, Louisiana and was surrounded by Tiger fans. Luckily I knew what was about to happen, well maybe not to that extent, but I wasn't really surprised. I hope LSU gives Trevor his first loss as a starter.
