  1. This is not a review, so take it with a grain of salt. I have owned 2 Curado K's and now I have another on the way, they feel like solid workhorse reels to me. Sometimes that is seen as quality that will last forever and sometimes people think that they are heavy and should be used as anchors lol. I have used them for chucking and winding cranks and small swimbaits along with some topwater baits. I have not owned an SLX but I have handled them in the store. They are pretty small and seem a little on the "light" side of what I would consider a workhorse reel. If I were to buy one (which I would if they didn't have that ugly blue on them lol) I would use them for slow presentations like a Texas Rig, jig etc. I use my Metanium, Scorpion MGL, Scorpion XG for those slow presentations and my Bantam MGLs for my cast and retrieve techniques because of the "feel" of them. All that being said, and maybe not a good personal experience reply, I would go with the K for what I feel you will be using the reel for. Oh, and if you are like me and OCD and cannot handle the gold on the cast control knob of the K, you can order a black one for the Met from Shimano to replace it.
  2. What rod are you using, or do you know the handle length? We can start offering advice, but until we know what you currently have, it may be useless.
  3. They may indeed be the "same" but the Booyah ones don't seem to produce the "same" for me.
  4. It does matter to us husky, I mean big boned, oh I really mean fat guys!
  5. Google can be your friend. Basically the FK is the new (updated) version of the FJ. The main upgrade is lighter weight.
  6. I think @Bluebasser86 answered why he did because you literally said this ^^^^^^^^
  7. Unfortunately, sometimes the truth will also come off as somewhat rude. Take that as you will, but you asked questions and you got answers.
  8. Thanks! Had to order $50 to get free shipping, but then needed 12 to fill up a 3600 box, then needed them by this weekend so paid the $5 for 2 day shipping. Just wish they would have had some of the colors I wanted in stock.
  9. And now the 2020 Zodias is going to have the monocoque grip like the Poison Arena sports. Geez, it's going to be a rough Spring on the wallet. LOL Also releasing an SLX DC
  10. LOL!!! Ehrler is 43 though, time to lose the flat bill.
  11. I was thinking the same, but maybe they can get it to $400 - $410
  12. Looks good to me. I just made my sheet for what I will be using this year. My Shimano Fanboy certainly shines through. LOL
  13. 8.2 on a 1/2 oz Greenfish Ballistic HD Spinnerbait in Sun Gill
  14. Brett Favre and Dale Jr approve this message I just bought a pair of Columbia PFG's to try out, but I may give these Wranglers a look. I usually just wear a pair of jeans but it really sucks getting them wet, especially when it's cold. LOL
  15. Maybe it's because Shaw and Gary are a little bit older and they are just happy to still be out there doing what they love for a living. Sometimes being appreciative of what life has given someone will show by their attitudes and I think both of these guys are examples of that.
  16. Shimano can just take my money, take it all I say.
  17. I've never actually sat down and had a conversation with any of them so I can't pass judgement off what is shown on TV. I have met EE at BPS in OKC while he was just walking through the store. Seemed like a nice guy, but it was just in passing. These guys are working when we see them on TV and their job is to catch fish to bring home a check so we are literally seeing them at some pretty high stress situations. I've never fished for $500,000 so I don't know what that would be like. No different than when we see guys in sports taking their job seriously and sometimes seeming like a jerk in the heat of the moment, these guys are people just like you and I. Edit: Except for Ike, he makes himself look stupid EVERY TIME he catches one, I'm passing judgement on him. Edit 2: Add Brent Ehrler's cap to my dislike list. LOL
  18. Getting out there is what it's all about. Good to hear you are feeling well enough to do so.
  19. Question for you if I may. I have 2 Helix 8's Mega Si - Mega Di, one on the console and one on the bow. I have a Terrova TM with the built in Mega Di transducer. That being said, I don't have Si on my bow unit. The dealer where I bought my boat said that if I use the transducer on my TM then I wasn't able to have Si and I would have to link the units and use the same transducer that my unit on the console uses (transom mounted) to have Si capabilities. He stated that I would not need the Si at the bow and I would use the console more to find the fish and the Di to find the structure. I am new at all this new technology so I just went with what they said. After a few times on the water, I am not sure if I like NOT have Si at the bow. What would I need to do to have Si at the bow? Not trying to hijack the thread, but this may help the OP since he is going with the birds and plans to add later to link up with his TM.
  20. Wow! Congrats on an awesome day!
  21. I have the 6'11 M+ and while I have only gotten out with it once, I will agree that it is a very well built stick.
