  1. For me, and I ONLY speak for me. It is about buying the best I can afford and putting faith in my abilities and the product I am using to catch fish. For me it is all about what I have confidence in. I honestly feel better throwing a jerkbait when it is a MB over a LC, that's just what my mind tells me. As an example, I play golf and maintain about a measly 10 handicap, not great. However, you can bet that I am playing a ProV1 when I am on the course. Would I be any worse if I were using a Noodle, doubt it but I feel like I have more confidence knowing that I am playing a high quality ball. There is no sure fire way to tell if expensive baits "catch" more fish, but in a sport where one's confidence plays a huge factor I think it is up to each individual to decide what is best for them.

  3. A Quantum or Lew's on a Shimano stick Just kidding, that Smoke would look good on there.
  4. I was at the lake the other day and an older gentleman was walking from the dock to his car. The dock is broke so it's a pretty steep incline. I was close by so I said "Need any help getting up there?" He said "I may be old, but I'm not disabled yet". Some people might have taken that wrong, but I didn't take it as being rude or anything.
  5. Jigs, T-Rigs, Frogs, etc. 40-50 lb braid with or without leader.
  6. I went out yesterday and threw a buzzbait around the lake for a few minutes with no luck. Didn't take all my gear but I am going to try to throw a fat impact on one and toss it around some.
  7. You will LOVE the Zodias!!! What reel are you pairing it with?
  8. Thank you for the offer! Someday I may take you up on it.
  9. Awesome report! Fishing for big smallies is on the bucket list.
  10. Bass feeding, not sure. Me fishing, weather.....meaning I fish when I can. If I don't have a class to teach, a game to coach, a game to watch my kids play in or anything else more important to do I will be fishing weather permitting.
  11. I will bring back a 9 year old thread, I don't care. So while using Google I searched "double texas rig bassresource" and it brought me this little nugget. I was thinking about trying this as a technique and wanted more information. Does anyone use a form of this. I was thinking of doing my weight, then hook and using a creature bait and leaving a long tag end and doing a hook and wacky rigging a z man floating worm on it.
  12. Xcalibur/Booyah - Tiger Craw, Rayburn red, Chrome black back, Chrome blue back
  13. It's tiny! It is hard to tell since the fish is so small. I thought a spot at first but then I thought a LM. Being so small it is hard to tell.
  14. I too don't understand why it can't be that way. You could still do the same format, weigh/release and just count the biggest 5. Maybe it has to do with the score tracker or whatever, but I don't know why it wouldn't work. I like MLF/BPT way more at this point but I think it could work. Some guys "quit" fishing when they have a 40 lb lead, but IMO everyone would have to fish hard for all three periods with no letting up.

  16. Make sure your spool hasn't shifted toward the sideplate too far. You may have to use your thumb to move it toward the handle.
  17. Rod action and line type are 90% of the deal when fishing a buzzbait. It also depends on when you set the hook based on the rod/line combo. If you swing for the fence on the blowup with an xfast rod with 50lb braid you will probably rip it out of its mouth. Let us know your line/rod setup. BTW, as was mentioned, you need to feel the fish. I have caught a TON of bass on a buzzbait, and unfortunately I have missed my fair share.
  18. EE, the hottest fisherman on the planet right now uses them.
  19. Exchange for free products? Companies are making a ton of money as is. If they can get Ish, Skeet, Ike, EE, Lee or whoever to pimp their product, they aren't out any money. Companies like Nike and UA pay athletes millions of dollars to endorse their products instead of giving them free products. I think you are confused on how endorsements and advertising work.
  20. I treat the bass spawn the same way I do the deer rut. My favorite part of both is the first stage. I would call the first stage the feeding/moving phase for bass and the seeking/searching phase for deer. Bass are feeding and moving into shallow water getting ready to spawn while deer are on the move looking for other deer who are getting ready to breed. During the second stage the bass are on beds and harder to catch as they are pretty well locked down on doing their job. Same thing with deer. They are locked down and breeding and not moving as much. The third stage is the replenishment stage. Bass and deer alike will be feeding and moving and getting back to their normal routine. Depending on ones experience with bass or deer you know where to be, when to be there and what to do during these phases. Success can be accomplished at any point in time during these stages, it's up to the angler/hunter to make it happen.
  21. Never used one, but I would assume they are quality rods as well. If I were looking for cork, I wouldn't hesitate at all to get one.
  22. Falcon Bucoo was the first rod I thought of as that is what I use as my pond hopping all around rod. I don't have the new model, it is the black eva model. It is a 6'10" MH and I use it for a variety of baits and it performs well.
  23. Winn for the win for me.
