  1. Got out after work today for a couple hours. Hooked up with this 5.5. My buddy caught a 6.4
  2. Try it on if at all possible. I wear a 34-36 and I went with XL bibs and they are great when I layer (also getting them over shoes). I wear XL tops (I like beer) and I ordered a 2X jacket. It's way too big.
  3. I'm noticing a trend in this thread.
  4. Things just got real in here.
  5. Where you hold the rod also plays a role. Look at Gary Klein, his entire hand is in front of the reel.
  6. When spring fishing in Oklahoma you better be weather aware. Not just when you are on the water but the route you intend to travel. I've been staying at a cabin on two different occasions away from home and we were in a tornado watch. Not the best feeling in the world.
  7. MLF talking about fish care and KVD just put a dink on water skis for about 10 yards. LOL
  8. I just looked on ebay, must be a heck of a read.
  9. Okay, so someone break this down for a dumb Okie on why it matters when fishing. I have asked that question with no answer. Is it just when casting? Working a soft plastic or jig? Walking the dog? Rolling a spinnerbait? Cranking a lipless? If I am using a spinnerbait my rod tip is pointed to the water. A soft plastic or jig it is pointed about 10:00. So do I want it to be more tip heavy with the spinnerbait and butt heavy with the soft plastic. Sorry, I am looking for real world answers here and how it pertains to actual fishing. Like I said, I have never thought about it so I am looking for reasons why it matters to those that have actually put some thought into it.
  10. I wouldn't dog A-Jay too much, maybe you should look at one of his threads before calling him out. He might be a decedent of Hercules. I think the reason many of us "old men" don't understand why it matters is because one inch toward the tip vs toward the reel seat isn't really going to make a difference in a fishing situation. Sure, sitting around your house and taking pics it might, but not out on the water. I'm sorry, but if anyone really gets fatigued or tired over a few ounces, maybe you should take up remote control planes or something. Never mind, the remote would probably be too heavy.
  11. Some people, not here but on another forum. Post more pics of their gear than they do of fish they catch.
  12. Exactly!!!!! That's why I posted my pics, to show that they prove nothing. Shhhhhhhhhhh, but I think the title should have been "Look at my new combo"
  13. Geez, I'm like a fat TW model. All my pics are in a TW shirt.
  14. Do you have a theory for what technique you want to use for a particular balance? What about the line? Do you want it to balance a little further for a particular application? But what does it matter? Does a half inch or 1 inch make a difference? I bet when you are fishing with it you couldn't tell the difference. But, it's 2019 standards where a reel that weighs .8 more than another really fatigues people.
  15. Antares DC 7 on a Denali Fission 7'2" H. I must have moved when I took the pic, it was pretty level.
  16. Here is my Curado DC on a 6'10" MH Denali Fission rod. Not sure what this proves, but here it is. LOL
  17. I guess I'm confused why it matters. The reel is going to make the difference. Why do you care where the rod balances? Been fishing for 25+ years and never thought to see where my rod balanced.
  18. I thought Ott said he was going to try to qualify through the opens.
  19. Green braid, fluoro, yellow braid, clear mono, I am not sure it matters 100%. I use to think it did. However, we were at Eufaula one day and catching them on a GP baby brush hog. Both using leaders. We were working a bank and I broke off at my leader knot. Just to get back to fishing quickly I went straight braid. I din't notice any difference in hits. Now, do I think it matters if they are being picky, it probably does, in that case it's a fluoro leader on braid for me.
  20. Tour stop 1 on Kissimmee: Total fish during the tourney 2,624. Two fish over 8 lbs, 7 fish over 6 lbs. Stop 1 and stop 2 = 4,722 fish. Four fish over 8 lbs.
  21. Day 1 shotgun rd today, 306 fish caught, 20 over 6 lb. Day 1 shotgun rd on Conroe, 310 fish caught, 2 over 6. The entire tourney on Conroe saw 2,098 fish caught and only 2 weighed in over 8. Three today.
  22. By my count, and probably not 100% accurate because I am going off their big fish but there were 20 fish over 6 weighed today. Mark Daniels Jr had a 6-06 and an 8-06. Gonna be a fun week!
  23. Anthony, score tracker update, Kelly Jordan just caught another fish, you are now 71 lbs 12 oz out of first place.
  24. Maybe KVD and Gagliardi went out for a couple cold Busch beers.
  25. The drone footage of Jordan is awesome!
