  1. The word finesse is used at least 100x more than it was 10 years ago.
  2. Yes, the MGL is new. I have a Curado 70 and it has been a fine reel as well, but the new MGL feels a lot better to me.
  3. I use the power grip II on all my reels. They are the ones that come on the Curado K
  4. @Columbia Craw I too am a first responder. Although I am just a "volunteer" firefighter I have seen more than I wish I had ever seen. Wrecks, drownings, house fires, etc. can take a toll on a person. God bless you man. I have the upmost respect for anyone that chooses to protect and serve. I don't know by name who all has served or continues to serve on this forum, but I wish I could name them. Those like @Bluebasser86 are in my thoughts as I only hope he makes it home safely every day.
  5. My opinion is worth what you pay for it, but here it is. I have the Curado 70 MGL XG, SLX MGL XG, and the Scorpion 70 XG. They are all GREAT reels. I have upgraded all the knobs and if I were blindfolded I might not be able to tell the difference. You absolutely cannot go wrong with any of them.
  6. OU has had GREAT QB's in the last few years. Hopefully they will learn the game is really won in the trenches and on defense and start building a defense that can keep someone from scoring 40.
  7. Not sure, never been tested, I assume that's the only way to know. My step dad had it and almost died, they made my mom get tested before she could visit him and she tested positive for the anti-body but she would have never known. She wasn't sure when she had it.
  8. You will learn a LOT more about fishing when you actually go fishing as opposed to asking about it on the internet. The internet is an amazing resource, but there is NOTHING that can compare to personal experience on the water. Fish as much as you can and pay attention to what is working and what isn't.
  9. I was going to suggest something similar, a gravel driveway works well but it doesn't mimic water exactly. One thing I might add. Try to skip under your vehicle or a table or some other object to give you the sense of getting it under a tree or dock.
  10. I will assume it was a drowning. It doesn't take long for a panicked person to get water in their lungs and it's a tough situation at that point to make a recovery. I have been on a boat where there was a man over board and he bout had a heart attack and he was 20 years old and in great shape so we were able to get him back in. Imagine an older, heavier person, possibly wearing extra clothing and the scene changes.
  11. Are we talking one reel for both or two separate reels? For Texas rigs, I prefer an XG (8). For spinnerbaits and chatterbaits I prefer a 6 gear. I guess if I had to compromise it would be a 7.
  12. I will tell someone exactly how many I have caught, where I caught them and what I caught them on. When my buddy is with me, he gets really upset. I just tell him, they probably didn't believe a word I said.
  13. The first time I ever went trout fishing I wore my camo waders that I used for duck hunting. I had on a hoodie and baseball cap. I had my UL spinning combo and some tiny grubs. These guys in the river looked like they just jumped out of an LL Bean catalog. Fancy outfits, fly rods, I mean the whole get up. I just walked till I was alone as not to stress them out with my unkempt self.
  14. Well, I got a lil carried away with 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 1/2 & 3/4 oz bullet weights. Then add on the other weights and I have for drop shot, jika, and carolina rigs and I have enough to last a while. I gave my buddy 15 5/16 weights the other day because he didn't have any. Now that I really think about it, I probably only have 300 or so, I over estimated (I think). LOL
  15. This is the only place I use. I usually order a lot at one time and it sure saves me. I probably have 500 or more tungsten weights on hand in various weights and kinds.
  16. Frogs over grass if the grass has made it close to the top, my favorite way to fish! Here are a couple
  17. I have terrible allergies, pretty sure I near my death bed every spring. I like a speed craw too
  18. I thought the dogwoods were blooming one day, then I think the stinking wind blew them all off. LOL
  19. Mine only does it when I have the transducer buried in the mud. I had to take my TM in for service one time and the guy asked me if I used my prop to till a garden, I just told him I like shallow water.
  20. Did that statement come out both sides of your mouth? The point I was making is it might not be good for the spool. You literally just said you "not let the line slip" and then don't hold it "tight to the point of bending the shaft" then said if Shimano and Daiwa can't handle it you would buy something else. I guess not every one is as keen on knowing the precise amount of pressure it might take to bend the shaft, that is simply why I said it probably wasn't great to make a habit of it.
  21. Better question is, what color trailer should you use.
  22. You won't break your reel, it's just not good for it. It's especially not great on light weight spools.
  23. Not every fish in the lake is going to spawn on the same day. Here is a pretty simple article describing how bass behave during the spring. https://www.fix.com/blog/bass-fishing-by-season/#:~:text=Bass feed heavily prior to,helps egg development in females.
  24. That's a good way to ruin a reel. I have a buddy who does it that way and he can't for the life of him figure out why his drag slips. OP, I usually pull out some extra line and lay my rod and reel to the side. Then I find something to wrap the line around (90% of the time I use the handle of my net) and I pull till it breaks. I use braid a lot so I will usually straighten a hook before I break the braid.
  25. THANK YOU!!!!! I have made it a habit to pay for any LEO I see eating at an establishment. I encourage anyone so willing to do so as well. These people protect us and put their life on the line every time they put the badge on. I want them to know they are appreciated. I have a couple good friends that are in law enforcement and I feel for them and the current climate of the country. You have my support 100%!!!!!!! I feel comfortable sharing this here because this forum is full of people who were taught respect for authority.
