  1. Keith Stone would like to visit with some of you.
  2. When fishing cover, and I fish a TON of trees, brush, lay downs, etc, I want the rod to be stout enough to get the fish away from the cover as soon as I can. I mentioned in a thread earlier that I probably fish my rods on the heavier side more often than not. I am also using braid and a high speed reel. We can argue the merits of rod power, braid strength and reel speed all day, but I am going to use what I have the most confidence in YMMV.
  3. The tactical angler clips definitely cause a jerkbait to be more nose down, not sure it matters all that much, but that is one reason I like the Owners better.
  4. A lot of people flip and pitch in and around HEAVY cover. I have caught a ton of 2 lb bass that felt like they were 15 lb catfish because there was so much slop/grass on them.
  5. That's what I was thinking. Take a 1.5 oz weight and pitch it and it will punch through. I did see a video one time though where the guy was pitching it super high so it would have enough momentum to punch all the way to the bottom. Maybe that is what the OP is referring to.
  6. This......my advice is to check your line as often as you would without the snap and still retie as needed. You should always retie when you feel a nick or an abnormality anyway, the snap just makes switching lures easier.
  7. I suppose it would, but I also wouldn't be throwing Texas Rigs and jigs on 8 lb fluoro. @galyonj had a great suggestion
  8. I would go MH for sure. That being said, I tend to lean toward the too heavy side of things as opposed to being under powered.
  9. Same here. I looked back at some pics from last year up to this point and it makes me sick thinking about this year so far.
  10. That Manifold is 2lb 11oz by my math, but I'm not a math teacher. LOL
  11. You can use them on any lure as long as the eye isn't too small for the clip to attach to. I only use them for cranks, lipless, jerkbaits and swimbaits/A-rigs.
  12. I have used the Spro Prime snap mini, the VMC touch lok, the Tactical Anglers and the Owner Hyper Weld. I like the Owner Hyper Welds the best.
  13. No scorable bass? I thought this MLF stuff was too easy? LOL Not a dig on you, but there are PLENTY of guys on forums always talking about how they could compete with those guys.
  14. Somedays mine looks green, other days it looks blue. No idea of the actual name of the color.
  15. For me, I find I am more patient and will let a bait "soak" longer if I throw it on spinning gear. I usually do this with a ned rig or shakey head. They could be 3/16 or 1/4 oz, so not necessarily "finesse", but I do feel like I fish them slower.
  16. Could be, I guess I thought both of these pics in this thread was of the same fish. I suppose I was wrong. I need to study more. LOL
  17. That's not the same fish.
  18. I threw frogs on the 7'2 H last year in some super thick stuff and it was plenty stout.
  19. It would be a great rod for the techniques you described if you are comfortable using the same rod for those particular techniques. I don't think I could use the same rod for a jerkbait and a 3/8 oz Texas Rig, but that is just me. It is a very versatile rod and should suit you well.
  20. Sounds like you have already decided on an electric, but I will add to what has already been said. If I want to knock the dust off my boat or truck then my electric works okay. If I want to clean the deck, porch or siding then I borrow my parent's gas powered one.
  21. Advantage? Ummm, yea they fall nose down unless you rig them the other way and then I guess they fall tail down. I have fished them with 1/8. 3/16, 1/4, and 3/8 oz weights. Not sure what you are asking.
