I have the XG. I changed out the knobs to the Power Grip II knobs. I have put those knobs on every reel I have.

Where to start? Comparing watching a guy weigh in a couple fish versus watching a 2 hour concert, not quite apples to apples. I have no idea how comparing a fishing trip where one is actively partaking even remotely compares. But wait, if you traveled to see him, shouldn't he have hit a HR every at bat? He owes it to YOU.

I would say if people travel to a tournament to watch one guy walk across a stage with a couple fish, maybe they should sit down and think about their life for a minute.

Perfect example of why you should only believe about 2% of what you read or see online.

At one point there were more than 4 million people in Texas without power and 6 million without water. Last I heard at least 5 people had froze to death in their own home and others have died of carbon monoxide poisoning trying to heat their home. Hotels all over Texas are packed and even they are experiencing rolling blackouts. I think it was the right move in the grand scheme of things.

You can order a 96mm direct from Shimano. Or, you can get help from someone else. BTW, changing handles won't help with all the "play" in the handle.

Well, it's not a 90, it's an 84 which is on the HG 7.2, it would be a 96 on the 8.5, which are great handles.

How long is the one you have? How much does it weigh?

Why? Longer? Lighter? Different knobs?

Does it affect your ability to catch fish? I have owned 100+ Shimano reels over the last few years and I have heard of this "play" in the handle, but it has never, and I mean never impacted my ability to catch fish.

Yea, those are actually junk reels. I will give you $150 for it. Better take it now.

I had the 6'11 M+ Adrena and it worked great for light weight plastics. The Aldebaran is also an excellent reel. Those are great suggestions.

Yep, get DJ, Rory, Tiger, etc. using the new drivers and everyone thinks that will shave a few strokes off their game. Most people don't realize the game is usually played at less than 100 yards. More strokes are lost on the green than off the deck. Sorry, this is not about golf. My bad. LOL

I whole heartedly agree with that, and if one can gain confidence using a particular item to put them in the right state of mind to be successful, then IMO it is worth it. Kind of like guys that buy a new driver that may or may not be better than their current one, if the confidence is there, their performance may increase.

With the power situation in Texas, it was probably a good call. Some people have been without power for 4 days or more. We had rolling blackouts in Oklahoma but the Thunder went ahead a played a game, because basketball is so important.

I would bite the bullet and get a spot-lock anchor and shallow water anchors at the same time. I didn't get poles when I bought my boat and fished out of it for a while then decided I wanted them. I also went with a "cheaper" TM with spot-lock before upgrading to an Ultrex, so I would also advise just going with the Ultrex if you are even considering it. I went with 8" graphs and wish I would have went with 10". It all seems like major expenses up front, but it beats buying twice which is what I have already done with my TM and will end up doing with my graphs.
