  1. Generally they are good everywhere. But it would serve you well to try to color and size match with the local forage. As for pressured lakes = possibly finiky fish, smaller cranks on lighter line are a good way to make them hit.
  2. I'd like to see the Harbaugh Bowl. I don't have an opinion on the patriots except that they are always a great team, but I'd like to see Ray Lewis finish his career in a Super Bowl. And as a panthers fan, I can't stand the.whiny falcons. So...lets go San Fran and Baltimore! As for who is actually going to go...who knows.. All four teams played good this weekend...all of them have solid momentum and they are obviously all hard to beat.
  3. Here in NC it takes 5 DOT workers to dig a hole. 1 digging and 4 smoking. Goood stuff flip
  4. Always a trailer hook! Trailer hook is like having built in plan-b. I don't usually use a plastic trailer. I use spinnerbaits with the long tail skirts. I will put on a single tail grub if I'm trying to burn the surface or trying to bulk it up a little and add more action to it. ( usually when they are chasing shad really hard)
  5. Last year I was deer hunting. I was up in stand in a tree that was deep in the woods. I was surrounded by hardwoods. Down in the bottom was a little stream. I had taken deer there several times, normally they would be about 15-50 yards away. Not far at all. This is a spot I love to bow hunt. On that particular day I had my shotgun chamfering 3". Shells. An younger doe had walked in was there for several minutes eating acorns and drinking water. I finally got tired of waiting for ol boy deer to walk up and I shot her from about 15 yards. When I pulled the trigger she was turned with her side to me and she did a complete 360 flip and landed on her knees in the stream. It was like something out of a cop movie the way they flipped and flew when i fired the shot.
  6. Personally I think that you should plan to build two rods. On the first rod, I would invest very little. Spend your time on this rod and use this build time as experience. Customize as much as you can with an inexpensive rod kit like the one from cabelas. Then on rod number 2, once you have little experience buy a MHX or another mid market blank and better components. Just my two cents. Good luck
  7. Most importantly KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND SHAKE IT OFF. Bass fishing is the most popular fishing sport because it is a challenge, it is not easy. Everybody here had great advice for you. IMO, the best was to continue to go fishing every chance you get. And when you feel down and like the bass got the best of you, get on here and we will be here to pick you up again. Remember keep your head up.
  8. What no hair dryer? How do you dry that thick head of hair when you get out of the shower? Good luck with the grips
  9. In the end it's just fishing, not a beauty pageant, not a popularity contest. The fish don't care if you use a Sellus or a Cumulus. I'm glad you came to a rod that you like that is super easy on the wallet, and best of all IT FITS YOUR STYLE OF FISHING.
  10. Im about half and half. Its not scientific but if you know about how many inches per turn of your handle you can get it pretty close. I dont like puttiing more than 50 yards of the good stuff on. Less on the flipping rods and more on my cranking and my spinner bait/big trap rod. Not a science but it works for what i do. Im like Brian, i try to get three sppoools out of 200 yards.
  11. I just went a head and put my vote in for the 9/14. Open seat on My boat.

I will assume that this story is true and that Johnny Morris, didn't have part in the litigation am did show up to apologize and refund Simple Life Outfitters. With that said I will be a man and, I will retract previous comments about Johnny Morris. Still upset that bps the corp did that but It takes a real man to put a stop to the things going on in your business and to apologize in person.
  13. Welcome, Glad to have you
  14. I really thought that Denver would win big over Baltimore and Green Bay and San Fran would be close...boy I had it backwards
  15. I know that's right, the way we look at it is that we would rather have extra money in the future and be able to retire at age 45 and work a part time job at my own pace than have extra money in the bank now and blow it all just because we have it.
  16. Fly fisher, we,both used to do that, but now When we do that but the money goes into our 401ks and our sons college savings account through our respective jobs. Both of our jobs have really good 401ks . So we thought our saved money would be better off in something like that than in an account that we can access. lWe still manage to have enough left over to save some that we actually can access. I thought this, would be a good idea in addition.
  17. An older guy that I work with told me a pretty good one. He said about 20 years ago, he was bed fishing and had caught a couple bass already and was moving along a bank and seen a fish that he estimated to be 6 or 7 lbs. He said he was using the trolling motor to get a little closer to flip on the bed and about when he picked up his rod, an osprey came down grabbed the fish and was gone. He said the osprey could barely carry the fish and that as the bird continued to fly it was only a few feet from the water.
  18. Slonezp totally understand you, I'm am ex cop who now makes his living on a boat so alot of the stuff that you and bass thumb mentioned is kinda stuff that I'm used to seein or have seen once or twice thru one job or the other, I kinda meant this post towards raw nature is general. But Other stuff is funny too.
  19. Long Mike, I think I would have needed to change underwear. I was waiting for some of you seasoned veterans to comment, I know y'all got some good stories.
  20. Broke bass, now that had to be a sight!
  21. There's a good chance that there is probably crawfish and bluegill / bream. Get a craw and a twin grub trailer. You can't go wrong with green pumpkin or browns with purple, reds, or blue, flakes. The rage line up can cover these needs.
  22. Haha fair enough. Lol. I was, hoping the ravens could pull it off! When Jacoby Jones caught that ball I almost flipped out of my chair!
  23. Good job rip!! I looked for like 5 mins and couldn't come up with anything useful.
