  1. Good luck you should like it!
  2. I don't know about California Lakes but over here the lakes are down, I spend alot of time this time of year riding, looking at structure that is out of the water right now but will soon be under water, getting a feel for the bottom structure, taking photos, and putting in marks and ways points. I also li,e to bring my paper maps and make little notes on them. I started doing in winter of 2008. 2009 was drastically better than any year I have ever had. I continue to do that alot in the winter once our lakes are much lower and the fishing slower. Just my .02
  3. Oh dear, that's the best laugh I've had since I the last I seen a Chris,Farley movie.
  4. A,couple days ago, my wife showed a chart she found on the Internet that shows a person how they can save money by doing it once a week starting at the first of the year. Each week, you will one more dollar than you did the week before. So if you start on the first week ok January and put 1$ in jar and then the following week put 2$ and then on week 3 add 3$'. On week 40 add 40$ and so forth until the end of the year, you will have saved over 1300. ( I forget the exact amount). The wife and I have decide to both do that separately and see what we have toward the end of the year, I have even thought of starting another jar in may, so,we,will always have vacation for the summer. And if I ever quit smoking, I will add the 5.00 a day to it. Please no ragging on me for smoking. I know, I know, I had quit for 4 years before I started up again. As bassfishermen we are always buying and not always saving ( speaking for myself) figured I would share this with you guys.
  5. I think Sunline is worth the extra money. But WW2farmer is on the money with the Seaguar Red Label. Its the first floro i ever tried and it didnt scare me away from using floro. It's good line and is a lot cheaper than Sunline. In fact I think you get more on the spool at half of the price. A 200 yard spool will last a looking time if you are just using it for leaders and not mainline
  6. Hunting season was Great! It cleared up my local lakes and I was able to slay the bass and stripers. No fishing or boat, pressure and no waiting at the ramps. I killed a small 6 with a bow back in September and that was the only time I went.
  7. I wonder where Rob Ryan will end up. Any word that front
  8. I throw my soft hollow body's on a 7mh most of the time and sometimes a 7'H. You should be fine. If the cover is really nasty or you decide to cover with a heavier weight with slightly larger swimbait, then u could use the 76H. I can't speak for every body here because every fishes a little different but the only time I use a medium power rod for a "swim bait" is if it is a weightless fluke or similar soft jerk bait and the cover is,sparse to none.
  9. Similar scheme that Chud ran since both came San Diego, and I'd like to see Norv in a reduced role with less stress. He is a great play caller IMO.
  10. Nice dude! I would have been shaking too. You,think after doing this for a while that we wouldn't get so excited when that fish comes up and you see a mouth so big that you fit a volley ball in, but that what makes it fun! I'm glad the soggy weather paid off big time.
  11. And I thought the court system in NC sucked. He should have to surrender his fish and game license for a couple years and never be allowed to fish competitively..and that is after he serves a jail sentence to breaking and entering and obtaining property of false pretenses.
  12. Lmao. Now that was funny. How about Carolina's O-coordinator, Rob Chuzinski, going to Cleveland as HC. I was a little shocked. Not that he got a head coaching job, but that Cleveland didn't go after a bigger name. Or someone like Ken Wisenhunt or Norv Turner. I'm hoping we can get Norv down in Carolina as o coordinator
  13. Watermelon/red is my go to for clearer water, I love green pumpkin gold, and green pumpkin with purple flakes
  14. I try to plan trips outside of my immediate area about 3 or 4a times a year. Normally taking no longer and 3.5 to 4the hours, going to Smith Mountain Lake or Lake Wylie in opposite direction. My wife and I normally plan on camping and we look online for state parks or camping areas. I am very weary of mainstream hotels. However, when we go to smith mountain Lake we found a lake front hotel that is fishermen and pet friendly, we go back there yearly. (West Lake Inn, Moneta Va) As for taking care of the boat normally have a 100 foot cord in my boat storage. Since i dont leave my boat in the water, we charge at the site. We treat these trip just like any other trip, can check and top off fluids in tow vehicle, make sure tires are ok, check bearings and grease them if needed. And any time we ride, we have a spare trailer tire that is ready and a spare for the truck. And the last thing on my list is if you have a set of tools and jumper cables, take them. I do want to invest in those electric locks for compartments.
  15. Nice video. I'm def gonna sit down and try it. Thanks for taking the time to post it.
  16. Update - since getting a short shopping trip and getting her Abu Silver Max and Abu Cardinal Reel sent off to a close friend for a custom air brush paint job, ( white and pink ) life is good. She is anxious to get her reels back tomarrow so she can catch a fish with me this weekend. I've been with my with since we were in high school 13 years...she was upset that I didn't tell her the amount and that I spent that much money on " an emergency credit card ". Without. Buying her anything. Wifee is a big time bass fisher lady in her own right. So for now I have learned my lesson.
  17. If you want the Calcutta for the sake of having one, then wait. But if you want a good cranking reel that will cast a mile, get the Lews.
  18. LMG, that is the first step. The dizziness you feel is the Lews Awesomenss. Welcomme to the dark side. Rangerphiil, Lews BB1
  19. In my best homer voice " dohhhhhh" I did save a good amount on that stradic yesterday..so i cant be so upset
  20. Go to the companys web site, get the number and call Matt Cashion. He is very down to earth and will talk to you and answer all of your questions.
  21. Castle doctrine went in effect here almost two years ago. God help the man that enters your home now with out being welcome.
  22. Zillion is a beast!! They are the Adrian Peterson of reels! Lmbo , if they weren't so dang expensive I would have more than one.
  23. I would start the same place I would if it was cold. Find the bait first. Go from there. Water temp may not increase nearly as much as air temp.
