  1. My biggest spot would be just shy of 4 pounds, caught on lake norman. my good buddy caught one that was closer to 5. aside from that it's 1 and 2 pounders all day. i couldn't imagine fighting a 9lb spot!
  2. It's an awesome reel for bigger swimbaits, i'm sure A-rigs would be easy on it too.
  3. hello and welcome
  4. scrounger head and white or white/chartreuse grub style bait and hang on
  5. won't be disappointed is an understatement. it's ridiculous how excited you're going to get over some lead and silicone!
  6. nice move. i admit i'm a deal junkie, but feel like i miss the boat on price matching some times.
  7. very nice fish man! is that a little snow on the banks in the background?
  8. really easy bait to work in my opinion
  9. ask TW, Dick's Sporting Goods, BassPro and some eBay vendors how they intend of spending my "savings"......
  10. Broncos fan here as well.... not sure which guy i was happier to see leave: Orton, Cutler or Tebow Good luck bears fans, Clausen chumped it up for the Panthers and I can't see him turning it around anytime soon.
  11. feel the same.... i have an olympus that's built like a tank and does video and photos. i bought a scotty rod camera mount for like $20 bucks that screws into the camera and then goes into the scotty rod mount base. your quality probably won't be as good as you think and your battery will drain fairly fast on the phone as well. and the last thing i would want to do is fool around and drop the phone in the water. EDIT: meant to add that i put my phone, wallet, keys, etc. in a dry bag and put that down in the console of the kayak so nothing gets wet, lost or otherwised ruined.
  12. unbelievable deal for sure! would never have imagined owning such a nice spinning reel. i'm of the mind that over $100 on a spinning reel is just excessive, but to get all the features of this sweet $200 reel for $75 out the door was just crazy. i'm going to take it nice and slow and find the right rod to pair it with and really make sure i'm maximizing the reel's potential.
  13. UPDATE: Went back last night and picked it up. So glad i did too. the kid i initially talked to was nice and helpful, but not the most knowledgable. i went back last night and found the one guy that i'm certain knows what's going on and is definitely a fisherman himself. thankfully he dug around and found a brown color envelope that said "patriarch reel" on the outside of it. inside was the box, folded, with everything. papers, cover, extra spool! Was just too good to be true i thought! I dropped the $75 pretty quickly and ran away like the christmas bandit.
  14. Just picked this Patriarch up last night on a super sale! Now to find the right rod for it!
  15. arky head jigs, but definitely senkos weightless are the easiest
  16. beautiful part of the state!! i had my bachelor party up in Cherokee and we hit Lake Fontana although we didn't catch anything but a buzz.... we used to go camping over in cherokee during the summertime and catch some of those good looking trout. hope to get back up that way around the april timeframe for a poker tournament at Harrah's and maybe do a little fishing while i'm up there. good luck man!
  17. Does anyone have any experience with this rod? I am looking at a new higher end spinning rod and saw this. While I am not a fan of the 5pc construction, I have a hard time believing that Megabass would put out a junker rod in the $400 range. The fact that is does break down for travel would be ideal though and would allow me to keep a rod/reel with me at all times. Although the travel aspect is nice, i would still rather have a solid all around spinning rod. Does anyone have any experience with the rod and if so, would you suggest it as a primary spinning outfit? Thanks. http://www.cloudninetackle.jp/product/3238 Megabass OROCHI X4 SS F3-72X4S-SS Name: WHIP SNAKE Type: Spinning (4 piece model) Length: 7' 2" Lure Weight: 1/16 - 1/2oz Line: 4 - 12lb
