Favorite walking bait
megabass giant dog x in white pyton or black orochi.... they are costly, but it's hard to lose a topwater bait! not saying i can't do it or it hasn't been done, but harder than most to lose!

How to fix a broken rod tip?
get you a fuji tip repair kit (available at a lot of places, walmart, gander, cabela's, dick's sporting goods, etc.) pretty easy to do it yourself honestly (if i can do it, i assure you that you could do it)

Wanting to get behind one rod brand
in that price range, i'd strongly consider Dobyns fury rods. they have excellent customer service and the fury is a pretty good stick for the price.

Attacking a New Pond
no different than another pond or body of water.... start out with what you're comfortable with and make adjustments until you find what they're willing to bite. right now the soft plastics are on fire around here (texas rigged worms, craws and senkos)

Top Water Baits At Dusk ?
i honestly have better luck in the later hours of the day than early with the topwater.... so i say yes. And when it gets dark, tie on a black bait (buzzbait, popper, walker) and go to town, especially when the nights are warm down here in GA!

Bass just slapping frog?
you can always downsize the frog too.... if no dice there, i'd be in agreement with papajoe that they're slapping at it as a threat to the intruder.

Early Morning Toad!
Went back to the place where i lost a big one last weekend with a buddy. We launched the kayaks yesterday morning around 6AM and it was cold and windy (i know this is a relative term) but for Georgia, it was COLD and WINDY!! I tried to get some action on the buzzbait/spinnerbait on the edges of the pads, but nothing going there. I could see and hear some topwater activity in the thick of the pads though. i opted to pull out my brand spanking new spro frog and put it to work in the pads. After about 30 minutes of that i saw some activity near a nice little open pocket so i worked my frog through there a couple times, nothing. Tossed a weightless t rig senko in there and saw a swirl, but no strike. So threw the frog in there again and CRASH-BANG-SLURP! Hookeset away and she went straight for the pads.... after a little tangle with her in the pads, i pulled her up and realized it was a little bigger than i thought it was at first! Right at 22", but no weight on her (see my other thread about needing scales after losing mine last week). Only caught 1 more dink all day, but this fatty had my spirits high all day!
