  1. sweeeeet! what's your CC info and paypal login? you can PM it to me
  2. i don't know what standard color means.... no joke. i throw whatever i have on hand and that typically means whichever ones were on sale! i've been tossing a lot of sprayed grass, black and pumpkin (black and green flake) lately because that's what i have the most of! last night i picked up 2 packs of purple pearl/blue flake because they were on sale, we'll see what the fish say about those!
  3. You can't go wrong with either of those in sure. I've never used tatsu but anyone that has says it's the best. I have some sniper that is great! It's a little thinner diameter too so consider that... Only thing the fluoro won't be great for is the topwater techniques. Otherwise should be great!
  4. i've had a number of dogs throughout the years, they're far better than 99% of humans i encounter. sorry for your loss man!
  5. while i doubt this would be a very cheap solution, at all, check out amphibious excavators. looks dangerously fun!
  6. My wife has a work thing she's attending in July for like 5 days in Sandestin, FL. I might tag along with her, but was wondering if there are any good bass fishing opportunities there? I'm sure there's plenty of saltwater fishing to be done, but any good bass fishing? I would probably have a car to get around and could possibly even take the kayak down if there was reason enough to have it... Thanks for any help!
  7. i'd steer clear of the carrot stix as well... you can make one rod work, no doubt, but you'll limit yourself in both species as to which baits you can effectively use to target the fish. either way, nice reel, i have one and absolutely love it.
  8. i did use a dobyns champion 705 glass cranking rod for chatterbaits and it worked pretty well when i had it. but for the longest time i've been using a regular (not xt) tatula 6'10" MHF rod and that thing is incredible for those techniques. i've recently bought another, nicer, rod to take its place, but i can't for the life of me bring myself to sell the tatula, it's just that good. see if you can find one of the regular tatulas and pair it up with the Lew's LFS and you'll have a great combo!
  9. i wouldn't skimp either, it will leave a bad taste as far as fluoro goes. Also, use some cheap mono backing and only use 60-75 yards of the fluoro and you'll be able to make it last much longer and even spool more than 1 reel with it...
  10. i can tie a palomar knot no problem, but i've been using a uni knot on fluoro as of late and have had zero issues with it and feel like i'm not "burning" the line when i cinch it down.
  11. while i like my lew's baitcasting reels, i was less than impressed with their spinning reels. i have 2 pflueger trions and a patriarch. i've owned presidents and supremes previously and they all performed at or above my expectations.
  12. even if you do the DIY route, which is not hard at all, i'd still look at the harken pulleys. they are MUCH quieter than attaching a regular pulley and work very well! if you want to use rivets, i'd suggest the tri grip rivets, they work very well for this application and if you go with the nut/bolt route use the well nuts.
  13. whatever you do, see if you can paddle one before you buy it and see if it's right for you. not sure where you live, but there may be some outfitters around that have "demo days" and you can try a few of them out and then shop for one that's in your budget. make sure you budget out enough for a decent paddle and a good PFD (lifejacket) that you will actually wear ALL THE TIME. there's plenty of good ones out there, just have to be patient and then jump when you see one on craigslist!
  14. i think it's usually "there it is" i think i might start going full Iaconelli and just say "GIANT" no matter how big or small....
  15. Quick trip to DSG last night to grab some braid that i actually "needed" .... this one color of senkos were on sale for like $4.50, grabbed both bags they had, then needed the owner wacky hooks to go with them, then saw the crazy flappers..... it's a downward spiral!
  16. that's going to be a really nice combo man! nice choices!
  17. UHHHH no!!! i could tell it was a nice rod with the recoil guides! that sucks man... can't bring myself to hit the like button!
  18. beat me to it!! they are fantastic baits!
  19. LOL, didn't see that punchline coming!!! that was great!
  20. pro blue red pearl, disco violet or just plain old white
  21. agree with the above... it'll hurt the first time, but gets easier from there! watch the videos, lay it all out, take your time, all will be fine! the harken pulleys that come with the yakattack version are where it's at, very good quality.
  22. From my experiences with St Croix and the first Avid (not the avid X) i'd definitely go with the Medium Fast
