  1. for me, i'd rather catch them on a jig. i love the jig bite and they no doubt catch the big uns. that said, i seem to have some of my best days ever with the spinnerbait. something about it, when it's on, it's on.
  2. for real.... all you need is white and black. white in daylight and black at night or low light. of course they all work, but in the efforts to KISS i stick with these two. i like the pad crasher because the body is soft and they compress really well for the hookups.
  3. i usually lose mine before they get to that point!!!
  4. in winter i just chalk it up to winter.... i may go 2 or 3 trips without, now granted i'm in a kayak and not running and gunning the whole lake. this time of year, heading into spring, i'm pretty disappointed if i don't catch one each trip!
  5. yessir as a matter of fact i do. it's called rep your water. they have them for a bunch of different states. cool part is they give a portion of the proceeds back to the state represented for conservancy efforts. i also have one for Montana, where i was born, but it's too small for my big dome! this one from Colorado is perfect size for my head, just picked it up a couple weeks ago in Steamboat Springs. They had a ton of cool ones in this fishing shop i was in.
  6. yeah i got some trokar hooks BOGO and they were already on sale at that... also picked up some missile d bombs and lucky craft cranks that were buy 1 get half off. while DSG may not be the best option in your area, when they have sales, they're hard to beat. not to mention, 2 minutes of google searching will often yield a $10 off $50 or a $20 off $100 coupon to go with it....
  7. that may be... this lake gets hit hard for sure. after the fact i was thinking probably would have been best not to touch it!!
  8. glad you said it.... beautiful fish man, i'd be handling them like broken glass if i find them that big!
  9. Can anybody tell me what this thing is on the bottom lip? Nastiest biggest growth i've ever seen, the pics don't even do it justice honestly! I'm curious as to what it is and how it may have happened?
  10. Last night was absolutely beautiful out on the water in the kayak, couldn't get much better than 70 degree air temps and was absolutely stunned to find the water was 71 degrees! Managed to get 1 mac daddy crappie on the spinnerbait! Shortly after a chunky spot smashed same spinnerbait and then his skinny little cousin said he wanted it too! bait was a 3/8oz terminator t1 gold/silver blades with a little homemade skirt i tied on!
  11. HOLY CRAPPIE.... this fattie gobbled up my spinnerbait last night!!
  12. cool deal, i'm in there man! go heels!!
  13. nice going, he's gonna have back problems toting all those medals around on his neck!!
  14. they're all segmented, no consolidation of any kind that i've found. they're all very proud of their own products....
  15. i do, only for treble hook baits. i often put my rods in the front of my truck when hauling the kayak or if staying overnight somewhere. the lure wraps have saved the cloth seats on my truck from getting gouged with the trebles, let alone my hands!
  16. right on.... i don't know what's more frustrating to me. searching all day trying to find fish or staring one in the face that won't bite!!
  17. if mike can't fix it, you've really got a problem!! mike has cleaned, serviced and supertuned a few for me with stellar results. i have also sent in 2 reels in need of some troubleshooting and mike fixed it like it was nothing and had the reels back to me in no time at all.
  18. i fish all 3 of those on the same rod, Daiwa Tatula 6'10" MH/F
  19. i'd call lews for sure.... my buddy lost his whole sideplate in the lake on his TP the other day, called them up and they shipped out the whole sideplate assembly to him for $15 total!!
  20. i haven't had any problems with hooksets using similar hooks to the ones shown in that diagram. the keitechs are pretty soft so the hook penetrates them pretty well (and yeah trokar's are pricey, but stout). I've also used the gamakatsu skip gap hooks with them and really like the fact that the swimbaits stay put on those hooks, and again no hook up issues that i've seen.
  21. probably cause you were fishing at stone mountain.... there's no fish in that lake but yes, the rage menace is actually a killer trailer on just about anything, and it's a solid bait on it's own as well, just swimming it like a grub! i use them for trailers on spinnerbait, chatterbaits and swim jigs, but hadn't used them on the fish heads YET... may have to give it a go now!
  22. funny, but not funny. it's part of the reason the actual shimano costs so freakin much.... they have to have pay lawyers to go after idiots like these....
  23. it had been a few weeks since i bought any tackle but, i got suckered into a few purchases last night.... the LC's were on sale at cabela's and they had some colors i wanted, so that happened... then dropped by Dick's and missile d bombs were buy 1 get 1 half off as were the LC hardbaits so i got a couple back ups. the trokar worm hooks are pricey, but i love them. was able to pick up the 2 packs for $5 total so that softened the blow.
