Honestly it's all older stuff and I really have no idea what's in there. I know I spotted a few rapalas and some of the cranks appear to be wiggle warts. Or at least that's what they look like. I'd venture to say there's at least 150 lures or more.

So I stop by a friends a few days ago. As we are talking he points to a box and says open that up. I found these at my grandfathers. I peel back the piece of duct tape that has lures written on it to find this. He's got a lot of work ahead of him in untangling all of this mess.

This arrived today. Purchased it on the 29th and it came from Japan in a few days. Quickest shipping I've ever seen. Will be put on a Phenix Recon 2 7'1 ml over the winter. For now I threw it on this med/mod falcon I had around. Spooled it up with some Yo Zuri #6 and threw in some boca os7's I had extra. Can't wait to try it out.

I like my Daiwa stuff and Lews also. I've owned both. I'd give a slight edge to the Tp but not by much. The edge is due to the weight of the Tp and it's easier to palm for most. As for the regular tatula vs the type r. There's no noticeable difference. Type r has a lighter spool by like .3 grams and it has 2 crbb. Different paint scheme and red accents. Also a Zion drag star but like I said you can't tell when fishing them.

I love the Palomar for braided line. On thin braid I do a double Palomar. Fluoro I've been using the uni knot. Amounts of wraps depends on line diameter. I like the bit of cushion it provides for the weight hitting it.

I looked at it but honestly It doesn't grab my attention. Yes,I read the reviews. There's always going to be a few negatives about any product. They are mostly about the gen 1 too. The recon looks better to me and I like the 1/2oz rating. I'll be throwing 3/8 tops but you don't want to be maxed out all the time. That'll put a hurting on a rod. My season is about finished anyhow. Probably just wait for a good sale or to find one used. Maybe even go custom. I'm unsure still.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm still stuck on deciding what to buy. The Klx is a ml and rated to 3/8 and the recon is a ml and rated to 1/2.Edit - I just went to pull the trigger on a recon but TW won't allow you to split payment between two credit cards. Dang!

I'm really digging the recon 2. I just like the looks of it over St. croix. Black and carbon would like killer with the px68 color combo.

Max drag is just a number really. Unless you are using heavy 65-80lb braid and punching some really thick stuff,there won't be any need to set it tight. 1/3 of the line you are using. #20 would get 6-7lbs of drag.

Is it breaking in the line or at the knot? Since it happened with fluoro and mono,I'm going to venture a guess and say it might be the knot. Also checking your line after catching a few fish and retying is great practice. Helps breaking off and possibly loosing a double digit bass. Run a q tip around your guides and make sure it doesn't get hung up. With those guide it'll be tough but figure out a way to do it. Setting your drag to about 1/3 of lines test is also the proper procedure. #12 = 4lbs of drag.

If you are hitting your connecting knot then you either have too much backing or your low on your good line. My guess is #1 because you shouldn't be seeing your knot on a cast.

It's a very dense material. So it transmits vibration better. Just like fluoro is more dense than mono. Fluoro and tungsten is a great combination. As said 10x already. It's also smaller,so it comes through cover easier. It's nowhere as cheap as lead but there are places online where you can get smaller sizes for about $1-1.50ea. I use the heck out of 3/16 and 1/4 so I buy a lot of those.

I'm new to the whole swimbait thing but I'll second what Tom just said about the Okuma. My baits are in the 1.5-4oz range and it handles them well. I was able to put together a swimbait combo for a very reasonable price when I pulled the trigger. Well the problem is I really don't know. I actually dislike finesse fishing but I know it works so I'm going to try to implement it into my routine more. Honestly my only planned bait will be 4 and 5" wacky rigged senkos. Maybe a trick work with 1/8 oz weight. Weightless and 1/8oz tubes. Drop shot and shakey head.

Okay so I just picked up a px68. I' not sure why bc I don't throw finesse stuff but maybe I'll start. Anyways now I need a rod for it. It seems that med/light is what's being recommended. I have no experience with a rod that light. $200 budget new or used.

All this pixy talk made me feel like I should have one. What's a good price on a used PX68L?

I'm prepared to lose $10-20 each time I go out. Sometimes you lose nothing and sometimes you lose a good bit. It's nothing to lose a few tungsten weights and hooks plus go through a 1/2 to full pack of rage craws in one outing. That's $10-12 easy. It's all part of the game.

I like spending money on things that put a smile on my face. Good beer,outlaw women,fishing equipment,car parts,ect Catching fish is fun but I enjoy it more using nice gear. I've blown about $600 on a swimbait setup and some different baits in the past month. Still haven't caught a fish on it but when I do it'll be that much sweeter. You can't take your money with you, so you might as well have fun with it.

Don't justify it. Just buy it and be happy. They print more money everyday and you can't take it with you when you're gone.

The speed spool can be found online for about $80-90. The tatula around 90-100. I'm a daiwa guy so that's my vote but I've owned a bunch of Lews and you can't go wrong with the speed spool. It definitely palms better for most.
