My buddy hit me up to fish after work tonight. Local reservoir that can only be fished from shore and it gets hit HARD. I was fishing from probably the most popular spot too. Felt some weight and saw the line move. Set the hook and started reeling. Realized when it was just my handle turning and not the spool it was a good fish. Then the whoosh noises definitely let me know it was a good one. Made a small jump close to shore and then I landed her. My buddy said that's probably a 5lbr. I told him it's over 6 for sure. I never usually fish wacky but I'm sure glad I did. My Pb thus far is 6.5. That was until tonight.

About 20-30 minutes ago. Was about 80 all day. It's now 70 with hardly any breeze.

Yeah just E*** I haven't ordered since the beginning of the year but I'd assume the price is still the same. The ones that I got, I like a lot. They're pretty soft and seem durable so far. I realized I messed up on the amount also. I got 48 worms for $14 shipped. Three packs of 16 worms of my color choice. There was a mixup on one batch of worms so I was sent a replacement pack at no charge. That's where I got 64 from.

I won't but actual senkos anymore. I can get 64 stick worms for $14 shipped in any color/flake combination that I choose.

I try to keep things simple. Out of all the fluoros I've tried over the years I've settled on Sniper. To me it offers the best performance vs cost. Power pro = braid Sniper = fluorocarbon Yozuri = copolymer

They clearanced them out last year. How much depends on your store but there's quite a few people who picked them up for $20-25. I've bought 3 for that price.

You can use #6 as long as your drag is set properly and you play the fish right. People catch 6lb trout on #4 line. Guys have caught big catfish on light line. 6lb fluoro is very common on spinning reels and plenty of big fish have been caught on those setups.

You can have a 10 bearing reel and 4 of them are in the handle knobs. 2 of them in the level wind and that leaves 4 in the actual reel. Yes, bearings in the knobs are a nice feature but not necessary. Same with the level wind. I don't notice any of my reels being much smoother that I've done this too. ^^^ he's faster at typing than me.

^^^ I bought a bunch on clearance at Walmart. Replaced a lot of baits with them. Those things don't come out.

Cutting the braid down to the mono could be why you didn't have troubles. Less line on the spool results in making it harder to backlash.

You work the bait with the rod and you also set the hook with the rod. I'd rather be using the rod with my dominant hand. For me that's the right. The more you use the lh reel the better you'll get at it.

At the top of this page is a sticky on how to setup a baitcaster. I'd take a look at it.

That's the important part. I have a 9" ms slammer. It's one of the cheapest hand made swimbaits you can get. At $50 I still think it's not cheap but compared to an Xl nezuma rat it's like a fisher price toy. Joining SU and seeing those people collections just blows my mind.

That's not exactly of the small crankbait size. It's also about 4x the weight.

Normally a mh/xf is not what you would want to throw topwaters or jerkbaits on. That would make a great worm/jig rod. There's also no set rules for what has to be thrown on what. If it works for you then by all means go for it but there are better rods for that technique.

It sounds like he should send it off to DVT for a professional deep cleaning first. Something's up with it from the way you explain it.

Feels no cheaper than the curado 50 series drag star. I adjust my drag once for the line that's on the reel and then it basically never gets touched again.

Try adding a drop of oil and see if it stops. That will let you know if it's the bearing. Might just be dry. Shimano should send you the bearing for free but Cabelas will exchange it also. Basically up to you on what route you wanna take.
